Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!
What Do You See Outside YOUR Open Window Today?
Remember: "When God closes a door, He always opens a window!" You never know what might be out there waiting for you!

Wednesday Treasures
I didn't have anything new to share until I looked out the window this evening!
It was so beautiful...I broke out in song...
1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation!
Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near,
join me in glad adoration.
2 Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning;
sheltering you under his wings, and so gently sustaining!
This flock of ducks flew over while I was out there watching the sunset!
Have you not seen all that is needful has been
sent by his gracious ordaining?
3 Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you;
surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you.
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
if with his love he befriends you.
4 Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him.
Let the Amen sound from his people again;
gladly forever adore him.
And then the moon starting peeking out from the clouds...
And as the sun disappeared in the west, this is how the moon appeared:
And one last look at the sun setting behind the trees...
Those are the lights of the gas station/convenience store on the other side of the highway beyond the pond. We can only see it at night and especially in winter when there aren't as many leaves on the trees, but I love to see the lights across the pond.
Oops! I blurred that a little bit, but I like it, don't you?
This is how it looked early this morning!
I hope you enjoyed these "treasures" from this evening's sunset. It was truly majestic.
Amen!
Okay, so, I would like to end this post on a totally positive note. I wish I could, but you need to know that my life is full of frustrations and issues just like yours. It's not all lovely sunsets and sunrises and birds and flowers and trees... Thankfully, right now my frustration is not something terrible or life threatening, thank the Lord. But it is frustrating, none the less. You've seen this washing machine before HERE, about 1 year and 3 months ago, to be exact.
If you re-read the previous post that I linked above, you will know that this washing machine started out on a rather shaky note. When it was first delivered, within 24 hours I was calling for them to come pick it back up because it wasn't working properly. They replaced it with another, that has worked perfectly until NOW, three months after the one year warranty expired. Of course. And no, I didn't purchase the extended warranty. Yes, I should have. Lesson learned. It would be worth it to do so, and if I had it to do over again, I would certainly have done so, and I highly recommend it if you are buying any new appliance today. They are NOT built to last more than a couple of years. Trust me! I should know better. And it is too expensive to have them repaired, IF you can find someone who knows how to repair these electronic gizmos. SO, NOW we are trying to figure out the next step. Should we pay for someone (if we can find someone) to come and fix it...or should we replace it? I wish I could find a good used washer that is about 10 or 20 years old and still working. That would be worth buying. The older the better. So we are going to sleep on it and pray about it and try to figure out the next step tomorrow. I really DON'T want another one of these NEW washing machines. They are built to fail. My One Word "Wisdom" is getting a work out.
Oh, this is the verse that is on a devotional reading for today's date:
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV
"16 Rejoice always,
17 pray without ceasing,
18 in everything give thanks;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
So, on THAT note, I will rejoice, and pray, and give thanks. This is God's will, and therefore I believe He will provide and show us what to do about this situation.
Stay tuned.
Good Night my friends. Let's go back up and look at that sunset again and sing that song once more, shall we? That's a much better way to end our evening, rejoicing in what God has ordained!
I love that hymn, Pam! We sing it in church at least once a month. Your photo illustrations of the lyrics are beautiful. Good luck with your washing machine dilemma. Keep us posted. xo
That old hymn is just perfect with those beautiful photos! I'm so sorry about the washing machine. It's so frustrating that appliances don't last. I actually have that verse pulled up on my computer right now. It's such a good one!
What is wrong with the washer? Can you google the symptoms? Maybe YouTube has a fix it video. Paul keeps our appliances alive, orders parts and operates on them. It doesn't always work though, but a 15 month old washing machine, that's rough! I hope you can figure out how to fix it! The pictures are lovely...God is amazing.
The only extended warranty we have is on our car and our roof. I’m one who likes to just wing it when it comes to appliances, TV’s etc. I’ve also never had to use a warranty either. I just pay for the repair.
That first photo should be a painting! And I sand that song right along with you as I looked at the photos. What a sad thing though for your washer. They absolutely do not make them to last anymore. I'm so sorry. I'll pray tonight that you and John will wake up and know exactly what to do. I saw the endriconogist, (I'm sure I spelled that wrong), and she wants to do further tests. Of course. So I had to take a pill at 11:00 tonight. Just one. And I have to have blood drawn at exactly 8:00 am. tomorrow morning. And of course we have freezing rain tonight. I'm glad Dennis will be home to drive me as I do not like driving on ice. Snow, I'm okay with, but not ice. I still don't think it's anything but I'll do their tests. I think it will just amount to a blood draw for now. I hope John is much, much better now too. Blessings and love, Betsy
in my opinion, there is art more beautiful than God's Art made from his very own Crayon Box. I am thinking how blessed you are to have all of his art available to lift your spirits when frustrating thing happen. it doesn't repair the washer but does heal your heartstrings.. that first shot is STUNNING... I do absoluely despise the new, better washers. and there is nothing new that is like what we had,.. maybe order a tub and a washboard and go back to the old style. wait, no roller wringer to smash your fingers. Praying now that God will speak and let you know what to do. I have several times put out a call on Fb for my local friends to suggest a trusted repair person and always, 3 separate times got a good one. our beloved AC repair guy of 8 years now came from a friend on FB.. did you search Google for used washers nearby? I say ask your FB friends and see what happens.
The pictures are so pretty. God's creation is amazing. Oh the washers. You are so right...they are not made to last. There is a place in our town that sells used washers. You might look around for something like that. The older the better in my book.
The photos of the sunset took my breath away, Pamela. Amazing! God's paintbrush was working overtime, wasn't it? As for those pesky appliances, we are waiting, waiting, waiting to have our oven fixed. Yes, the burners are fine, but we can't bake a thing right now. Of course, we are out of warranty. Our stove had one for five years, and has truly been a "lemon." I just might have to blog about it later. I do hope you can get the issue with your washer resolved sooner than later. Blessings!
God's masterpieces in the sky. Thank you for capturing it for us to join in singing as we look at it. I do love that old hymn too and thanks for the words to all the verses. Wonderful. Don't get me started on the new fangled appliances..hope you can fix it. Sue
Hi Pamela. Wow, you have some absolutely stunning photographs in this post. They are just beautiful! So sorry you are having some frustration with your washing machine. Ugh. I hope that you can get it fixed or find a good used one to replace it. Let us know what you decided. Have a good Friday!
What a revolting development on your washer! That's a good idea, looking for someone's 'senior' appliance. We follow EstateSales.net -- that profiles such sales within our preferred radius (25 mi.) and oftentimes see large appliances in those homes. I told Tom -- not if, but when one of ours goes belly up that's the route I'd like to go. As ever, your photographs are exquisite!
Thank you for visiting here today. I would love for you to sign my guestbook and let me know you stopped by. I always enjoy reading your comments and words of encouragement! May you be blessed as you go on your way. Please come back and visit again soon.

So lovely. Thank you for sharing the sunset with us.
ReplyDeleteAs for the washer, my suggestion is to fix it. Maybe even yourselves. Do you have the manual? You can find parts online.
