A Golden October Day

The day started out with a golden glow in the trees as we took our morning walk.

The light was golden all around

I think you can see it better here...

And in the happy faces of these golden wild coreopsis that are growing all through the woods right now, everywhere we looked.

Even this huge spider web took on a golden glow in the early morning sun

The woods are full of God's glory

Not to be outdone, this lovely bright orange Gulf Fritillary butterfly spent some time sipping the nectar of the Penta flowers on my front porch this morning. I just happened to look out the window and saw him there, and he stayed around for quite awhile, having quite a lovely time...and so did I, watching him.

These pictures were taken through the window, so they probably aren't as clear as they could be, but they are still so pretty. I was enchanted.

Hello, lovely lady with your gorgeous autumn dress!

As if that wasn't wonderful enough, this evening we had a nice little rain shower while the sun was still shining...so immediately I once again ran to the front window to see if there might be a rainbow...and sure enough there it was!  I stood outside in the rain and took these pictures...

Yes, it was a double rainbow!

We had one last night too! Amazing!
It seems like God is displaying all His beautiful colors for us during this Autumn season, when things are actually in the process of dying out before the winter begins.  Makes me wonder about life a bit...as we enter the "autumn" of our lives, which many of us here in "Blogland" seem to be getting closer and closer to that if not already there, I wonder if we are also displaying all of our "beautiful colors" and the golden glow of God's glory shining through us.  That should be our goal in life...the closer we get to our "winter days" on this earth, the more we should glow with the beauty of Christ living in us. There should be a radiance that others can see without us having to even speak it out loud.

"The silver-haired head is a crown of glory,
If it is found in the way of righteousness."
Proverbs 16:31

Some thoughtful advice to women is found in I Peter 3:3-4

3.  "Do not let your adornment be merely outward...arranging the hair, wearing gold,
or putting on fine apparel,
4.  Rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God...."

In other words, may we be more concerned with developing and displaying the true inner beauty that resides within the heart of a woman who puts her trust in God rather than with the outward appearance of having fine clothes, jewelry or having things...not saying those things are bad in themselves, but only that our greater desire ought to be the better things of a gentle and quiet spirit...something for me to ponder when I look in the mirror...

Psalm 34:4-5 says:

4.  " I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
and delivered me from all my fears.
5.  They looked to Him and were radiant,
and their faces were not ashamed."

I hope you have enjoyed this beautiful golden October day.
Now, let us go out and "glow"...

  1. WOWOWOW That spider web is something else! To answer your thought on my blog; I haven't gotten them (the new blouses/shirts) yet...we can wear anything we want, no sweat pants or hoodies though. I wear jeans and usually a t shirt/short sleeve shirt because its so hot in the store and plus, I am always on the run. We also have different colored vests the employees wear according to job. I wear a yellow vest because I mainly work upfront. Cashiers wear the blue or gray vest and management green or yellow.

    1. Sounds like you stay very busy on the job. I am trying to imagine what you do "up front" if not a cashier? But anyway, I am glad you are having a little respite this week from the LONG hours back to back. That can be very exhausting. I am still praying that other position will open up for you, if that is God' will for you, of course. He knows what is best. Just keep smiling and let God take care of the rest! Have a blessed day.

  3. Wow! That golden glow that you captured is simply amazing, Pamela! Just looking at those photos made me feel God's presence. And yes, let us glow from within with God's love and grace as we age. We can't do better than that!
    Blessings!

    1. Thank you, Martha. Yes, the more I am in God's beautiful world of nature, the closer I draw to Him. There is so much beauty to enjoy, placed here by God for us to behold. And yes, as we grow closer to the Lord the more His light should shine out from within us. It is something to consider as we go about our lives...what kind of "glow" do I give out for others to see. I pray it is the light of Jesus living in me.

  4. I enjoyed your photographs as always, but your thoughts made me stop and think... and will some more. I think it has been on my mind since Sunday's message at church just how important it is for me to embrace the new stage of life I am in with serving my mom and my kids. AND the thought of just embracing the stage of life we are in physically. I looked at the picture that was made of me on Saturday at my Tucker's birthday party. I hardly recognized me ---somehow my hair is not even silver anymore, but straight up snow white. How did that happen? And those jeans were not in the least bit flattering. In fact, it sent me to the closet yesterday when I had some time to pull out some clothes and think -wow, the body doesn't look like it once did. I made a stack to donate:) I still have plenty, but anyway, your words have reminded me to not look on aging as a bad thing, but to make the best of it. I will ponder ways to do that more, because I am a thinker:)

    1. Yes, Sandy, you are in that in between stage where I was not too long ago...especially as I helped care for first, my parents, and then my mother in law, and also tried to juggle work and family at home and then a terminally ill son in a far away state. It was a struggle emotionally as well as physically. But the Lord brought me through and now I am just kind of in a state of 'being'. My prayer is that I can "Be Still and Know that I am God" in this current state, and that He will help me realize what my true purpose is for these autumn turning into winter days of my life. We kind of have to redefine ourselves and realize that life isn't anywhere near over, but just different and we want to shine with the inner glow of the peace of God in our hearts and lives for the days to come. Yes, I need to clean out my closet too...the body is changing as well as the way we live. Oh, and your hair is beautiful! That is that "crown of glory" spoken of earlier. Enjoy! You are lovely inside and out!

  5. Great photos (always) and you can find the smallest thing that shows God's amazing beauty. The small yellow flowers, the spider web... Thank you for your extraordinary eye and knowledge of scripture, bringing them together for us as you always do. Such a blessing!

    1. Thank you, Terri. I love it when God brings these things together for us all to enjoy! Sometimes I am just as surprised as you are by the way it all comes together. It truly is a "God thing". I am glad that you enjoyed this. Thank you so much for being a very special friend here in Florida!

    1. I know you know how wonderful that feels when God brings all these elements together to create a thing of beauty! As you well know, it is not something we do by ourselves...we need the Lord to put the pieces together and we are simply witnesses to His glory. Thank you for visiting and understanding that with me.

    1. Thank you, Anni. I am so glad you came along for the "ride". It was a certainly a blessing to me as well. Yes, I enjoyed that butterfly for the longest time. Because I was behind the glass, he didn't know I was there, so I could watch to my heart's content! Quite a treat!

  8. All your photos are top-notch, Pam, but the spider web is what held my attention the most. So intriguing!

As for your quote from Proverbs 16:31 regarding the silver-haired crown of glory, I'm definitely working on that! I'm counting on that verse to be true because to color my hair is more effort than I want to do anymore! LOL!

    1. Thank you, Barbara! I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. I am glad also that I saw the spider web before it got me!! That would have been a mess to get off of me! LOL. Yes, the silver hair is a crown of glory, so stop trying to cover it up!! We've earned every one of those silver threads!!

  10. The forest is such a beautiful place, and never ceases to fill my heart with great peace and contentment. It seems everything grows there unattended, without worry or care, and yet so much beauty. How lovely to watch the butterfly in her lovely autumn-colored apparel dining on sweet nectar, such a beautiful sight to see! I loved the verses you shared as well... many blessings to you today!

  11. Pam, thank you for sharing these beautiful photos. There's such beauty in the whole of God's creation--this is absolutely nothing compared to Heaven. Just think of the beauty of the world before the fall of man, before the flood...

And yes, a person's inner beauty--his or her character--is what is really important. What we see on the outside of person isn't the best indicator of who they really are deep down inside.

    Love and blessings!
