Tuesday 4
Coffee & TeaHello! Glad you are back for more of Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.. If you knew Toni you would know that coffee was one of her great pleasures in life. So friends, let's talk about those two popular drinks tea and coffee. Okay? Let's go....
1. What is/are your favorite coffee? (brand or flavor) If you are a tea lover, which tea is the best for you?
If you have known me long you know that I am a "tea-totaller"...I never have acquired a taste for coffee in any form. I do make a pot of coffee every day for my hubby and son, however, and they say it's pretty good, but they aren't hard to please. No fancy stuff for them...just good old regular Maxwell House or Folger's coffee will do. But for me, well, my every day tea is Lipton's black tea (orange pekoe). I brew a pot of tea every morning and have my morning cup of hot tea and then save the rest of the pot to make a pitcher of iced tea.
2. How do you take your coffee or tea? Sugar, cream , flavoring?
I put a scant teaspoon of sugar in my hot tea, but I prefer my iced tea unsweetened with lemon, please! And please don't ruin my hot tea with milk or cream. No thank you! Now, I do like some different flavored teas when I am having a little tea party or just for a change of pace.
I like English Breakfast Tea, Earl Grey, Lady Grey, Darjeeling, Constant Comment, and a variety of spiced teas or herbal teas. But I always come back to my plain old Lipton tea when I just need a cup of tea.
3. Do you go out for coffee/tea with friends? Ever enjoy a real tea room or a tea party? I have been to a real tea room on occasion, but it has been a long time now since I was able to do that. I would love to go again, especially to one where everyone dresses up and wears a hat. We just don't have any such places near us here and I honestly don't have too many friends close by who enjoy that kind of thing, which is disappointing.
I have given a few tea parties, but most of my little tea parties are with "me, myself, and I", or my little friend Lily Grace.
4. If you could design a coffee shop or even a coffee/tea station in your home, what would it be like?
Well, the lighting is bad right now while I am trying to finish this post, so this is the best I can do. This is our current coffee/tea station in the kitchen. Nothing especially fancy...just the basic essentials:
I have an electric tea kettle since I am prone to burning up the old fashioned tea kettles. We have a basic coffee maker with a timer on it so it can be set to come on early in the morning for our son who leaves home around 4:30 a.m.
We have plenty of mugs to choose from, which I prefer to use for every day tea or coffee. I save the fancy tea cups for real tea parties.
As I said earlier, the guys drink regular ordinary coffee here. However, if you are coming for a visit and you enjoy a particular kind of coffee, please let me know in advance and I will do my best to provide it for you...or we may just have to go find a little coffee shop somewhere and have some coffee and tea there! I do aim to please my guests if at all possible.
Romans 12:10-13
"10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love,
in honor giving preference to one another;
11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;
13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality."
I am posting this early because I will be gone most of the day tomorrow (Tuesday). So I will try to catch up with you all later as soon as I can! Have a blessed and wonderful day.
I hate that regular tea, like Lipton, upsets my stomach. I think it's the tannins that go to town on me! So, I never drink iced tea, and when I do want a cup of tea to take the chill off, I go herbal. I find that to be so soothing.
ReplyDeleteIf I ever come to visit, I'll take the coffee. :)
Blessings, Pamela!
I will be so thrilled to make a pot of coffee for you! If you want anything in particular in your coffee, let me know before hand! I do want to make it special for my special friend!!! That would be a wonderful blessing!!!
DeleteI love pretty tea cups and saucers and all that goes with them. I don't drink much hot tea but I love different teas with ice! Enjoy your day tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think I enjoy the tea cups and tea pots probably more than the tea itself! LOL. Here in Florida iced tea is much more popular than hot tea! I have a Dr. appt. in St. Augustine today and then other errands after that, so that is where I'll be. Gotta leave the house by 8:30 a.m. so I can't dilly dally here for long... Thank you!!
DeleteWhat an inviting cupboard, Pam! I may not be a tea drinker, but sure like those painted tins -- and tea kettles, too! Now I've come to know you better, I catch myself looking for cute kettles at estate sales and the like. Hats? I'm soooo there. And yes, you look great in that big floppy hat. Good times!
ReplyDeleteI love that you throw tea parties in your home. I might make a pot of tea and visit with a friend or two, but I've never gone all out. My friend, Fran, and I are hoping to have an actual tea party for friends one of these days. I've been collecting thrift store cups and saucers that the ladies can keep. I learned to love tea from my Nana. She always had a cup in her hand or nearby. I loved sitting on the porch with her in mornings sipping tea or sitting at the dining room table on a winter afternoon watching the multitude and wide variety of birds come and go at her feeders (she lived in the country, but also across the road from a swamp that is a national wildlife sanctuary).
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful space you have set up for your teas! I love it. Gosh, I would love to come to your tea parties! Looks fantastic! Loved your answers! Have a nice week.

I love your tea and coffee center. I must have my morning coffee or else I am not going to feel well. I like a cup of tea in the afternoon...strong, black tea. No sweetener, but some lightening is required. Never have visited a tea room with a floppy hat, but I have a floppy hat if I ever get the opportunity. 🫖
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, I enjoyed all your pictures! I used to host a lot of tables when our church had yearly teas. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI love your dedicated tea spot! I have an electric tea kettle and it heats so quickly! If or when it ever dies, I'll probably just go back to a tea kettle for the stove. I used to use Lipton but when I discovered Twinings, I was sold!
ReplyDeleteI love those tea tins very pretty. I have a few tins of my own (another post another day) your tea cupboard is beautiful. I also like the earl gray teas esp when it is cold outside or I am not feeing well, like it with sugar and milk/cream but love sweet tea. I have never been to a tea room but think it would be so fun...
ReplyDeleteMy dad drank at least 2 cups of Lipton tea everyday and lived until he was 96. I love that you brew a pot for yourself. Yes, iced tea with lemon would be my choice. Fun tea party photo and of course your collections are so awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteLove all these fun and pretty pictures, Pam! Lily Grace sure looks adorable perched up there on the tea party table amongst all the tea party "pretties"! Yes, I love BOTH coffee and tea. I love ice cold sweet tea with lemon (or a big splash of lemonade) all day long. I drink coffee in the morning, hot in the winter and iced coffee in the summertime. I recently tried a glass bottle of flavored coffee sold in the cold coffee section case, it's vanilla flavor and it's a concentrate you mix with water, and I didn't think I'd much like it......but I do!---it's good. A bottle lasts a long time because it's concentrate. I DO LOVE my sweet tea very very very SWEET, LOL.....put way too much sugar in, I'm sure. I do put cream and sugar in my coffee, hot or cold. Other than that, I'm not into really drinking or buying fancy or flavored coffees, or going to starbucks or anything like that. Not really my "thing", ha ha LOL. (those coffees are so expensive!--our daughter loves them for sure) Love the tea party picture with y'all wearing your pretty ladylike hats too. I have been to an old fashioned tea room or two in my time, fancy little sandwiches I remember, and lots of little cakes and the like. They also had big shelves full of pretty hats to use, in case you forgot your own. When that one little tea room went our of business, they sold LOTS OF STUFF, pretty much everything in there, I got pretty teacups and daughter has one, we used to both love going there, so she treasures the teacup, she was young when we went there but remembers it very well.Hope you're having a real nice day my friend! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI drink iced tea all the time and sweeten my Luzianne Decaf tea with stevia. Your mugs look great in that cupboard and I love that you have done some great tea parties!! Fun!!
ReplyDeletePam: I drink herb tea, any flavor. I love iced tea. We use Louisianne Decaf tea. Coffee tends to bother my stomach and caffiene keeps me awake at night.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the tea party looks so inviting!
ReplyDeleteI do not drink my coffee or tea out of anything but regular cups or mugs. Maybe I should start treating myself occasionally since I do have several sets of china.
I enjoyed your post and loved the pictures. Have a great day.
ReplyDeletePS!!-- Those wood ducks from a post or two back--- YES THEY DO remind me of those ships!! Lol lol lol-- we see things the same way so often!
ReplyDeleteOh I for sure a lover of coffee and a pot is brewed daily. Actually, I am not very likeable until after a cup of coffee. LOL! We love the Folders Black Silk. I do enjoy a cup of hot tea some times right after lunch and occasionally in the afternoons. I love all sorts of teas but I gravitate towards the Chai Teas. Since I make all sorts of cold teas now, I try to have at least one boost tea daily. I love that tea party picture of you all. I haven't had a tea party at my home in a long time. The little grandgirls and I will have a little party occasionally. I was thinking recently that I would love to host a small tea for some friends but now...I am like....when do I have the time! LOL! Retired life sure can keep one busy. Hugs and blessings to you dear Pam. Cindy
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I drank tea since I was a very little girl but quite a few years ago I found myself falling asleep in church every single week. It became a terrible problem and in a car I was asleep in minutes! I began drinking coffee then found out I had fibromyalgia which causes great fatigue. I had care of my mother at the time for 10 years and she was completely bed ridden.. a very hard time. So that was my opening of the coffee years. Mainly I like the powdered coffee mate and add a little coffee to it!! I love your little tea party. Gee, I wish I lived closer to come see you. That would just be so lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes it would be lovely to have you close by. I am sorry that you have Fibromyalgia. I understand that can be very debilitating. Do you still suffer from it so much or has it gotten better with time? My 22 year old grandson has it, but he has been on an extended trip through the southwest this past winter and that helped him a lot. He normally lives in Maine, and it was terrible for him there, esp. in winter. I know we can't always help where we live, but apparently cold, wet climates are not good for Fibromyalgia, much like arthritis sufferers who do better in the drier climates. Thank you again for doing this each week. This one was fun and seemed to have a lot of participation! Great job!
DeleteThe anonymous comment above about the ducks and the ships-- that was me Pam-- debbi!! LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting me know! I kind of thought it sounded like you, but I wasn't sure!! Not sure why you come through as anonymous or unknown sometimes? Maybe when you are on your cell phone? Either way, I am always happy to hear from you.
DeleteI love all your answers and your photos. The tea party one is so fun! I don't usually drink tea, but i don't HATE it so if it's offered I will have some.
