Monday Monday from Still Waters Pond

Good Morning! It's Monday again! June is slipping through our fingers much too quickly. I really haven't had time to even think about what we are going to do this month.  No big plans that I know of. This Wednesday our women's group at church will have their monthly meeting, and I am on the refreshment committee for this month.  I will be preparing a large bowl of fresh fruit, (melons, berries, pineapple, whatever looks good) and also bringing the paper goods and some chips. The other lady is taking care of the chicken salad and dessert.  We normally used to discontinue meeting through the summer, but we decided that we need to continue to have fellowship during these months since we have stopped our Bible Study for the summer.  We enjoy being together and we look forward to sharing this time each month. So that's what's on tap for this week.  I'll try to remember to take some pictures.

So, since I don't have anything too exciting to talk about right now, how about a few pictures from "Pamela's Wild Kingdom", a.k.a. wildlife on Still Waters Pond.  There's always something going on there. So here's the latest pictures from the past couple of days:

Mr. and Mrs. Bluebird have been busy keeping the new brood of babies well fed. Mama sticks her head out the window and says "Hurry up with that grasshopper, Papa!  These kids are eating me out of house and home in here!"

"What's the big hold up? Can't you see I'm dying in here in this heat?"

He says, "I'm  waiting on that lady up there with the camera to quit taking my picture. You know I have to pose for her and keep up a good appearance so she has something to share with all her friends out there in blogland."

"Well, either you get in here and feed these babies or I'm leaving! It's much too hot for me to stay inside all day while you are out there showing off your great catch of grasshoppers for the world to see! It's my turn to go out and fly around and cool off for a spell!"
And with that she left the house and Papa delivered the food to the babies and then flew off to find some more.  They go through this routine all day long. Such fun to watch.

Meanwhile, out on the pond this morning we were blessed with another kind of family visit:

Three male Wood Ducks!  Not sure where the female is, so I don't know if these are all brothers or father and sons, or just cousins out for a summer swim in the pond...

It's a rare treat to see them close enough to get a picture. They normally stay way on the other side of the pond and I can't get a good picture. If I step outside when they are out there they will fly away immediately. They are very timid and the least little activity on my part will make them fly away. So I stayed inside and did the best I could to get these pictures this morning while they were swimming around.

I know this is a lot of pictures. Sorry. But it was such a rare occasion, I had to take advantage of it while it lasted.

Aren't they beautiful?  I don'[t know why they are called something so ordinary as a "wood duck". They are very majestic in their appearance if you ask me.
I often think of them as being the Spanish Armada ships come sailing in...

Not sure where I got that image in my mind...
Just something about the way they sail around and hold their heads up...I know, I have strange ideas.

Sorry if this is too much for one post. I hope you are enjoying the spirit in which I have shared these. To me it is an adventure...something very special to be able to witness this beauty of God's creation.

Do you see what I mean?

Just relax and enjoy the beauty of ducks swimming on Still Waters Pond early in the morning...

I hope this was a peaceful interlude to your day...

Oh, speaking of other interesting sights, here come "The Three Kings"...what I call the three Sand Hill Cranes sauntering past on their camels...

If you could watch the way they kind of lope along like a camel, you might understand what I mean.

Okay, that's enough wild imagery for one day. I hope you enjoyed this little morning adventure with me.

Here's a Psalm for today to ponder while you think about all that God has created for us to enjoy:

Psalm 24
"1 The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.
2 For He has founded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the waters.

3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek Your face. Selah

7 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah"

Amen.

Have a blessed and beautiful rest of your day.

  5. your photos always brighten my day, thank you so much for sharing, I can't believe how big colt is getting. Wood ducks are so majestic and your right about them resembling a ship. I love the stories you put with your photos. Thank you for the kindness on my page lately. I will most likely miss the women's get together this month, as my shoulder replacement is June 30, I believe our meeting is the 27th if it is sooner than that I will go. I posted some nature photos yesterday (I believe you will enjoy) Have a SUPER BLESSED day.

  6. Too much? Not at all; I'm loving each and every one!
Sometimes I have to pinch myself to realize the joy I get from Bible study. (I'd never participated in anything like that before and was reluctant at first.) We meet year 'round, save a break for brunch in between studies.
Tom's daughter is coming back (from Phoenix) for Father's Day, but other than medical stuff our summer's wide open. Just this morning our study leader reminded us, "Want to hear God laugh? Tell Him your plans."
