Monday Morning Musings

I really don't have much to share today, but here it is Monday morning and it seems like that should be noteworthy somehow. We made it through another week and are very very thankful. We finally were able to go back to church yesterday, after missing for three weeks. There had been so many of us sick over the past three weeks that it seemed like a homecoming yesterday to see everyone back again! Praise God! And here is the pre-recorded message from yesterday if you would like to sing along and also enjoy an excellent message from our Pastor from Hebrews 4:12-16, "Let Us Come Boldly".

The choir was singing "In My Heart There Rings a Melody", so perhaps you'd like to sing along:

"I have a song that Jesus gave me, it was sent from heaven above
There never was a sweeter melody, ‘Tis a melody of love

In my heart there rings a melody, there rings a melody with heaven’s harmony
In my heart there rings a melody, there rings a melody of love.

I love the Christ who died on Calv’ry, for he washed my sins away
He put within my heart a melody, and I know it’s there to stay.

In my heart there rings a melody, there rings a melody with heaven’s harmony
In my heart there rings a melody, there rings a melody of love.

‘Twill be my endless theme in glory, with the angels I will sing
‘Twill be a song with glorious harmony, when the courts of heaven ring

In my heart there rings a melody, there rings a melody with heaven’s harmony
In my heart there rings a melody, there rings a melody of love."

After church it was so nice to be able to go out to lunch with our church friends and family and enjoy a time of fellowship and laughter again. After being cooped up at home for the past three weeks it was surely a blessing.

(7:00 a.m.) I don't have any new pictures of anything to share. What's up with that? Maybe I should go back in my archives and see if I can find anything worth sharing.  (Couldn't find anything that suited my mood for today...)

Well...three hours later...I decided I might as well just share some pictures of the way it looks outside on Still Waters Pond today.  It is another rather gray, chilly, "raw" day here in "sunny Florida".  46 degrees at 10:30 a.m., and no sunshine in sight.  But here is what I can see:

If you look really closely in those trees you might see two vultures sitting in the trees. They've been very active around the pond the past few days. Not too sure what they are watching or seeing...I hope it isn't me! LOL. I'm trying to look as lively as I can! LOL.

Here's a close up of one of the big old buzzards:

And there he is again in the background, and there is a lone Mockingbird sitting on a branch on this side of the pond, perhaps he is "mocking" the buzzard. LOL.
Whatever he's doing, he seems quite content to just sit there and watch the world go by. I haven't even heard him singing today.  But you know, you really don't have to sing everyday to be happy.  Sometimes you can just be content to be still and rest and take joy in just being still...

So that's what I'm doing...

"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!"
Psalm 46:10

Psalm 23

1 "The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever."

So that's what I'm doing today...How about you? I hope you are having a peaceful and blessed Monday, whatever you are doing. I know this world is full of woe and stress and serious anxieties right now, but the 23rd Psalm is my prayer and statement to the world...no matter what this old world tries to throw at me or no matter how the news tries to keep me off guard and create anxiety, I will put my trust in the Lord...because He is with me...and He gives me comfort no matter what.  And that last verse above is so true..."Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord FOREVER!"   The world cannot take that away from me...or you! Claim this peace of mind today through Christ Jesus.  It will carry you through any storm that may swirl around you...and there is no need to fear.  Amen!

  1. I love ponds and the wildlife they are homes to. The song lyrics you posted are beautiful, and the message on your cup. Yesterday I had a great day, a visit from my younger son, I attended church online, and then Bible study from my church on Zoom. Plus two walks with my dear Bounce. Have a lovely week.

  3. Oh, how wish I were as disciplined a blogger as you!
    I just returned from our ladies morning Bible study, so yes. It was a respite for my soul. One of the girls brought along a handful of bookmarks to share, and I nearly chose the 23rd Psalm one. That's always been an enormous comfort.

  4. Glad you were able to get out yesterday and worship in person. We were back after 2 weeks out and it was wonderful to be back in church in person. My voice is not 100% yet, but it felt so good to sing His praises with our church family!

  6. I have nothing to blog about today either, LOL. I did send you an email though, lol. Vultures are just scary thing creatures, aren't they? grin

  7. Vultures do like to roost over water. They're God's clean up crew.

  8. I was wimpy and waited until the sun came out to go for a walk. It sure felt wonderful to get out in the sunshine and look in the woods. I saw a couple of 'wild' squirrels! heehee! But it still did me a world of good to get out. I'm glad you are all feeling better. Take care and enjoy the sunshine! Hugs, Diane

  11. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I read Psalm 23 while lying in the hospital, Pam. Oh, what comfort and peace those words imparted!
    Yes, it is always good, holy and healthy to be still and simply allow God's goodness to wash over us, seeing His presence in His matchless creation. Even in the rain and gloom, Still Waters Pond is a place of peace and solace.
    Blessings, my friend!

  15. Good morning and hi there my sweet friend! I am so glad to see that y'all are feeling so much better and are out and about again! Just so so happy to hear you're feeling better and pretty much back to normal! Loved seeing the pretty red bud trees, always a hint that spring is near and arriving soon. I love the azaleas too, you have blooms! So so pretty. I had Mr. Front Porch check outs and we DO HAVE SOME buds, but nothing blooming as yet. I think we tend to run a week or two right behind y'all here. I was happy to see your BLUEBIRDS have come home! and guess what? I had just old hubby about your bluebirds and guess what?---he spotted some here this weekend! I just love them and hope they use the nest boxes this year. Even if they don't....they sure hang around our yard and eat all the goodies we put out for them for sure. I love watching them and making pictures of them. How are you doing after your shot? I think it will really help you! I hope so anyway. Glad you got to go to Cracker Barrel, we haven't been there in ages. Not sure if we have one around here or not. I see they closed quite a few in neighboring towns, also pretty much all the Applebees and Steak and shake. I HATED TO SEE Steak and Shake close. I love that restaurant, always have since I was a child. Many happy memories there with my family! Have you been to Steak and Shake? I love that pretty blue plate your hubby had at Cracker Barrel, that is truly PRETTY. I wonder if they use many of them? I am so glad that glass panel from your display shelves didn't hurt you, Pam!! God was surely watching our for you that day, and protecting you. He is so faithful to watch out for us, to provide for us and to protect us! Hugs my friend, hope your week has started off great and you can take miss Lily Grace and her new puppy out for an adventure soon!
