Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!
What Do You See Outside YOUR Open Window Today?
Remember: "When God closes a door, He always opens a window!" You never know what might be out there waiting for you!

Thursday Thankfulness
First of all, let me say thank you to so many of you who took the time to read my "Life Story" on the Tuesday 4 Meme this week. I have appreciated your comments, and will try to get around to responding and also visiting with you more as the days go by. Yesterday was a very busy day for me, so I kind of got behind.
Why was it so busy, you may ask? Well, first of all it was my sweet hubby's birthday! And we celebrated last night by inviting some friends and our kids over for dinner and birthday cake.
And actually it was also one of our friends' birthday too! It was her big 7-0, and so she shared the birthday cake with my hubby...
Anyway, "Auntie Pamela" is a "snow-bird", spending her winters here in our fair land, so she doesn't have any of her own family nearby to celebrate with her, and since her big day is the same day as my hubby's, it just seemed right to celebrate both together. Our Pastor's wife also came, but our Pastor had sadly developed a cold and could not come. Our kids were all here, but for some reason they did not make it into these pictures, except for Benton. Rose was helping me in the kitchen and our son Scott, after grilling our chicken and hamburgers and enjoying dinner with us, had another engagement and had to leave before the birthday cake...but I assure you he got a piece of cake later! LOL.
Anyway we are singing Happy birthday to them, and I love how happy Pamela looks in these pictures. My hubby was happy too...and then came the big "blow out"...
Ha Ha, they each had their own "number of years" candles to blow out at the same time.
And there you have it!
We had lots of fun and laughter. Oh, and fresh strawberries and whipped cream on the side of the Red Velvet cake topped with my very own homemade buttercream /cream cheese frosting. Actually, my sweet dil Rose taught me how to make that frosting...and it is SO good!! Easy too!
As you can tell, a great time was had by all!
But I have to say, the highlight of the evening was when our grandson Noah sent us a text message with these pictures:
This is Noah with his "girlfriend" Dawn.
However, THIS is Noah with his Fiance' Dawn!!!
He wanted to share their joy with us. He said he proposed to Dawn on Valentine's Day, and she said YES!!
Now that was the best birthday present ever! And then he called to wish his Grandpa a happy birthday! A double blessing indeed!!!
The happy couple do not have any immediate wedding plans as they are on an adventure to find new prospects for a place to settle and jobs, etc....a long journey across country from Maine to Texas, working as they go/camping with another couple...kind of like the pioneers of old traveling by wagon train. They are young and full of the spirit of hope and adventure.
We pray that God will guide them and show them His plans for their lives.
We may not always understand the why's and wherefore's of life, or the "order" of things...but we commit our dear ones to Christ and let HIM do the leading.
The next thing I am thankful for was I had my six month check up yesterday at the Dr., and he said everything was great...lab work, EKG, etc., etc. I am very thankful for this, although I did have some questions about why I still feel so fatigued, etc. Probably a combination of things...aftermath of surgery, frozen shoulder, Covid, etc., etc., and perhaps some vitamin deficiencies. So we will be working through all of that, but the overall picture is great, and I am truly thankful to God.
We still have another birthday party to celebrate...again for my hubby and another friend who also has a February birthday...we will meet up with more family and friends on Saturday at a restaurant about an hour + south of us, which will be a good meeting place for all of us. I will definitely try to take more pictures to share of that.
Now it is time to go take our morning walk and enjoy this beautiful day that the Lord has made! We WILL rejoice and be glad in it!!! Here are some happy children singing this song, based on Psalm 118:24. Sing along and enjoy!!
The birthday celebrations look so nice. I like making big deals about birthdays, especially my own. I'm such a photo hog. *lol* Dawn is my middle name. I don't hear that name used much anymore. It's nice to hear it again. Love & Blessings. xx
Oh, Pamela Dawn? I didn't know that! I like that combination! Maybe they could name their first daughter Pamela Dawn, after me, of course! and after Dawn, and you could be her "God-Mother"! I will have to tell them about you (when the time comes. First things first...let's get them married first, before we plan all their children's names. LOL.) I just pray they will seek God's direction for their lives most of all.
Is this my Marsha? so happy to hear from you! yes, Noah is 6'4". Not sure how tall Dawn is, but definitely much more petite than he is! I don't know yet if they will actually stay in Texas. They are searching for a new place to settle, depending on jobs, etc. They are on an adventure of a lifetime. Yes, it is a long way from home, but they wanted to get out of the "cold". (But didn't want to come to Florida!) We just pray for them to find the answers they are seeking, and that they will be safe along the way. God is watching over them, and Matthew probably has his eye on them too. Maybe he can put in a good word to God on their behalf. Oh to be young again!!
Pam; Tell your hubby I said "Happy Birthday". I enjoyed looking at the pictures of your celebration. I am thankful that all your tests came back fine. I am glad that your grandson sent you those nice pictures and that announcement. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
Thank you, Cecelia. I will tell him. We had a nice evening...and plan to have another celebration on Saturday with more family. We like to use birthdays as a good reason to get together every so often and stay connected. Yes, we are very excited for Noah and Dawn. We pray God will watch over them and help them to make wise choices and stay on the right path.
Thank you, Ruth. It was a very delightful evening, and yes, the fresh strawberries actually sent good with the red velvet cake and whipped cream and buttercream frosting. I've never eaten much red velvet cake before, and I was very pleased at how moist it was, and not overly strong chocolate flavor. Just the right amount. It was good!
John and Pamela #2's birthday dinner looks like such fun! In photos #2 and #3, I can almost hear the laughter! Wow, how Noah's grown since the last photo you shared. And what wonderful news (that) he's discovered his one-and-only; that he wanted to share his news with y'all! Oh, to have that optimism and sense of adventure once more!
I'm so glad to hear all those 'tests' came back good. (I started to write 'positive', but I forgot, in med-speak that's a no-no!) When Tom asked his doctor last week why he's so fatigued she just said, "I'm not surprised, and you shouldn't be either. Your body's been through a lot." I'm guessing you're in the same boat?
Happy birthday to your hubby! Beautiful family/friends photos. what an awesome Valentines day, Loved your Tuesday 4 blog fantastic. I am trying to get caught up on my blogs, since I am down with my shoulder again, it got away from me. Still can't get in to see the dr till in March :( I am on a cancellation list. Hugs and prayers.
Hi Pamela, Happy Birthday to your husband and congratulations on the engagement of your grandson! I hope you feel better soon. I hear lots of people complaining of fatigue after Covid. I like that song. We sang it at Sunday School. Oh, your cake looks so yummy too!
What a happy, joy-filled post today! Happy Birthday to John, Pamela, and Happy Engagement to grandson Noah! I'm so glad your medical report is good, too. Maybe you just need more time to have more energy (while respecting your age at the same time .... smile).
Happy Birthday, John and Pamela!!! I so loved your photos here, Pam, and the awesome news about Noah and his brand new fiance - joy upon joy upon joy - just what this weary world needs right about now. May God go with all of you always, dear friend. Thanks for the cheer you brought into my day. Blessings!
The birthday parties look like so much fun and you have me hooked with fresh Florida strawberries! I sure do miss strawberry season down there. The berries up here are never any good unless you can find a pick your own place and those are really few and far between these days. Congratulations to Noah and Dawn! What a blessing that was on your birthday! Have a wonderful weekend, Pamela!
Lots of wonderful things to celebrate! And beautiful weather too. How great to get a good doctor's report too...I'm happy for you. I hope you have a good week!
Thank you for visiting here today. I would love for you to sign my guestbook and let me know you stopped by. I always enjoy reading your comments and words of encouragement! May you be blessed as you go on your way. Please come back and visit again soon.
