DreamsThis meme was begun by Toni Taddeo and kept going in her memory.
This week is another old one from Toni....
My Dreams ~ Try Using Photos!
1. My dream house is?
My dream house has evolved over time. I used to want a big farmhouse in the country, with big porches and a big country kitchen and plenty of room for everyone to roam and have a peaceful, happy time together. Now that we are retired, my dream home is more about location than actual house...I love the look and feel of a log cabin or a timber frame house, but more important is the location...it definitely needs to be where I can see the water, preferably a nice private lake that one can canoe/kayak on, enjoy the natural beauty surrounding it...and plenty of room to roam. Porches to sit and enjoy the view and visit with friends. A Firepit and time to gather with family and friends...actually pretty much what I have now, but if I could change anything it would be to move it a little more out into the woods away from the noise of the traffic nearby.

2. My dream car is? A comfortable SUV with seating for at least five. I don't dream about cars, just want something that is affordable and practical for our lifestyle and that is what we have.
3. My dream vacation is?
This pretty much sums it up:
4. My dream life is? Probably ditto the sign above. I would love to live like that all the time, but also have our church family that we enjoy to worship with and have fellowship, Bible Studies, and just enjoying our friends and family as often as we can. I always wanted to own our own retreat/camp where people could come and stay and relax and be restored from the sorrows that have touched their lives...a place where we could minister to people who really need a place to get away...thinking especially of pastors and wives who rarely have any time to themselves and need to just rest and relax without any pressures; also people who are caregivers for loved ones and need some time of respite away from their burdens for a while...
Over the years we have dreamed about this so often, and even tried to start a non-profit group to provide such a place, but it never really materialized. I would love for our home to be this kind of place. Of course we have a guest room that is always ready, but it isn't anything particularly special, and not all that "private"...I would love to have a guest house that can be used specifically for that purpose. I keep dreaming about it and maybe someday it will happen. But until then, my motto has always been:
"Mi Casa es Su Casa", which means in Spanish, "My house is your house". In other words, make yourself at home.
I have written about this before
HERE and ALSO HERE and Again HERE, so at least you can see I am consistent in my dreams!!
A beauty-filled, comfortable life. Who could dream of anything more wonderful? xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kim. It would be perfect if we could escape to such a place forever!!
DeleteI'm a dreamer and love to think about things like this too. I'm happy where I live but it's fun to dream of a cottage on the beach too. I love the woods AND the ocean! Your view is beautiful out back. I'm showing some of those lilypads today. Enjoy your day! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHere in Florida we can pretty much have it all...beaches on both sides of us and woods in between! We are blessed to live in a place where people are just dying to come here for vacations and to escape winter!! I need to go see your lilypads!
DeleteLove your dreams, especially the vacation one. I would just change it to the beach instead of a lake. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind a beach vacation as well, but I like lakes and country better...not as much sand and salt and sunburns. LOL. I live an hour from the ocean and we haven't been in ages. I would love to go and just walk on the beach again at sunrise.
DeleteLooks like y'all are livin' the dream just like me and my husband are. Neither of us would live anywhere else, especially right now. We can shoot or grow our own food, as necessary. That's worth more than money in the bank.
ReplyDeletePlease pray Acts 4:31 concerning January 20th. God can shift the atmosphere to His bidding and His will for His glory just like He did for the Apostle Paul & Silas. May it please our loving LORD to save us.
Sending Love & Prayers xx
Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Wow! What a prayer and what a vision! Yes, if He could do it for Paul and Silas He can do it for our people today. Would truly love to see a Holy Ghost revival in our land. Yes, I agree, may it please our loving Lord to save us! As for being able to "shoot or grow our own food as necessary", we are a little too close to the highway/people to "shoot" our own food, but we can fish in our pond. And I told my hubby just last night we need to plant a garden. Yes, let us pray, let us pray...
DeleteYou have nice dreams. I, too, enjoy a lake. Though a farmhouse with a lake view would be perfection. 😊
ReplyDeleteHey Vee, I would take a farmhouse with a lake view too! Like I said, the house isn't as important to me as the location! We currently live in a manufactured home, but it is big enough and adequate for our needs. The only thing we need to fix is access for people who can't climb steps. Saving up for a ramp because we aren't getting any younger! Thanks for visiting. I love to hear from you.
DeletePerfect dreams, Pamela! I used to think we should retire to a cabin in the mountains, but with Danny's medical condition, I'm glad we've stayed put. I love my little house in the big woods - Lol!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Well, you are close enough to the mountains that it wouldn't take much to just go there for little vacations whenever you want and not have the upkeep and expense of owning it! And I love that you have woods around you too. That is a blessing, especially living as close to the big city as you do!!
DeleteI love the idea of your retreat/camp. (Channeling Journey: Don't Stop Believin'!)
ReplyDeleteReading these questions, it occurred to me I'm pretty much living my dream life -- wrinkles, pot-holes and all. Funny how time and perspective changes that which I used to dream about.
Yes, I agree...time and perspective does change our dreams and we get more realistic about it...but we also become more content with what God has done for us. I am VERY thankful to have what we have and praise God for every moment of this life we are given.
DeleteI so very enjoyed reading your answers. It never hurts to dream but the truth is Pam, I truly feel I am living the dream. I have shelter, food, a husband, children, grands, and most of all Jesus Christ as my Lord. Oh girl...my dream house is what I have and it's more than I need. When my husband was 9 years old he was fishing at the fishing pond that is behind my house right now, with his grandpa. One day he said to his grandfather, " I want to build a house here one day". Well, we did. Many years later. Little did he know that the desire of his heart would be granted. Family land and most that is within spitting distance is all family. Though they can't see us and we can't see them. I like it that way too. LOL! I love where we live. About 20 minutes from our small town and at least 40 minutes from the larger towns but that's close enough and far enough for me. My home is surely NOT top of the line but it sure serves our purpose and girl...IT'S PAID FOR so I am good. I drive a a SUV and love a SUV. I have always driven one for the most part of married life. Well, except when we got married and we bought a used Ford Galaxy and went to the bank and borrowed our first loan ever of $500. LOL! I have always said my dream vacation would be to go to Hawaii. It is still something I think about from time to time but honestly, we love the beach in the summers and it doesn't take too long in my location to get to one. We love the Mountains in the winter and especially in North Ga and it doesn't take too long to get there. Now, I ain't giving up totally on Hawaii. LOL! I love to go and do different things but I have learned that there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME and HOME is where ever my family may be. It's crazy Pam, but the older I get the more I am learning to be like Paul...Find content in my life. But if I were to dream BIG......girl, every child that is hungry would be NEVER be hungry again! I would have a huge barn with a loft in a field and I will would host parties, decorate for them, have a reading, coffee, tea nook for the ladies. I would host events for women to enjoy the fellowship of one another and be under the Word. Oh my list can get quite lengthy with this one. Thanks for letting me share and enjoy today. Giving my good eye a work out today! LOL! Hugs and blessings to you dear lady and thank you for praying. Cindy
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree, the older I get I find that I am more content as well, and VERY thankful for all that God has done for us. I love your response above...and who knows, maybe you WILL make it to Hawaii one of these days!! I love your barn and loft and field idea...I would love to do that too...that would be a part of my retreat place. Let's get together and do these things, okay??? Praise God!
DeleteAs I was reading about your dreams, I just kept thinking that it is just about what you already have! My answers would be exactly what I have now. We don't need more than that!! If we had more money, we would just travel more. God is so good! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri. Sometimes I have to stop and pinch myself and realize just how close we have come to our dreams...I would only wish I could have more people come and visit...Maybe next year whenever this virus thing is over (please, Lord?) If we had more money, I doubt we would travel...but maybe we'd get that little guest cottage finally!
DeletePam, I appreciate how you shared about dreams and how your dreams have changed over time. It's truly a gift from God to be able to dream--dream about an uncertain future.
ReplyDeleteLove and blessings!
Thank you, Kim. Well, my dreams have been pretty consistent over time, and it's pretty amazing just how close to it we have actually come. I am very thankful for what God has given us. We pray that He will continue to take care of each of us in this uncertain future...one thing is certain, God never changes...He will take care of His children!!!
DeleteYou are the woodsy bear girl! Thanks so much for joining in. I was afraid at first that no one would participate after Toni left us, but I have been so happy with the results. I enjoyed your answers. You know if I could have a home that I would truly love it would have a hundred different styles and rooms in it to house them all!! I love so many different things. I am content to see them online and just live with what I know I have. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteWell, Annie, I saw your big Victorian dream house that you posted, and you certainly could decorate each room in a different style and it could be a great bed and breakfast with each room a different theme. What a fun idea! I agree, we can enjoy the beauty of places anywhere online without having to worry about the maintenance! And it is good to be content with what we have. May God continue to bless us and care for us in the coming days and years. We know He will, because He does not change. Thank you for doing the Tuesday 4. I enjoyed this one!
DeleteHi Pam, I enjoyed your post very much. I never learned to swim, so even though I like looking at lakes and ponds, I would be afraid to get out on the water! Would love a log cabin, even a tiny home log cabin in the mountains! I love picnics, sunsets, fire pits and waterfalls. May I say that your blog is a retreat for me.....I look forward to my visits here and you do provide a respite for me from the stress of the day. I appreciate your friendship and prayers. 💕
ReplyDelete(((hugs))) That really blesses me to know that this blog is actually a "retreat" for you. Maybe that is the retreat that God intended me to do all along...write it for others to feel like they are in a place of rest and respite from the stress of the day, as you have said above. Thank you for that thought. I will hang on to that...it has spoken to my heart. I appreciate YOU as well, dear friend.
DeleteSounds to me like you are pretty close to living your dream. I must say I have most everything I could need.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it takes writing it out to realize just what the Lord has done for us! Yes, we are living "pretty close to our dream". God is good, and we are thankful for what we have, as are you. We truly are blessed!!! Have a blessed and wonderful rest of your week.
DeleteBeautiful and tranquil views!! 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jen. Welcome to my neck of the woods! I just visited your place and left a message! So nice to meet you here!!
DeleteI love where you live! I love when you post pictures of the lake and the wild life.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susan. I am very thankful for what the Lord has done for us and writing about this has helped me to realize that He has pretty well answered my dream prayers. God is good, and we are thankful. Have a wonderful week!!
DeleteYou have such a compassionate heart. You know how to relate to the needs of those who are weary in doing good for others. Even if you are not able to provide a retreat camp for them, your use of words in your blog is a helpful ministry.
ReplyDeleteOh Barbara, that is such a wonderful blessing to me, to know that this blog is being used to help others. Someone else (Laurel Woods) just said above that coming here to my blog was like a retreat for her, so maybe that is what the Lord wanted all along. I probably couldn't physically do all the things required of a real live "retreat camp" anymore, but I can still write...so may the Lord use this for His honor and glory to encourage and help others who need a place of respite from the cares of the world for a little while. Thank you, Barbara. You are such an encouragement and inspiration to me.
Deleteloved your post!!! I love living by the water it is so peaceful and relaxing, we have the perfect place here if only the house was in better shape. Your blog always lifts my spirits I hope you have a great week
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your words of affirmation. I am beyond thrilled and blessed to know that God is using this blog to lift spirits and provide a place of "retreat" for others. If I can't provide a true physical retreat, then may the Lord use this space here to do just that in a spiritual sense. God does work in mysterious ways! Thank you so much.
DeletePam: I love your dreams. The one about that camp sounds perfect for pastors and wives (spouses). I used to dream about going on vacation and sitting by a lake and taking in the quiet. I have to say that it never happened. When we were able to go on vacation we were usually always on the go, except when we went to Florida and sat on the beach. I people watched one time. it was interesting what I saw. Peace and blessings.
