Thursday Blessings And Friday Fotos

 It is Thursday afternoon, and I am just feeling so blessed! Look what I saw outside my window on the porch railing yesterday afternoon:

This just blessed my heart so much...that God would send that beautiful butterfly right here for me to enjoy from my "room with a view"...one of His special winged messengers of love and peace...

This picture doesn't do it justice, but those maple trees on the other side of Still Waters Pond are getting more and more colorful every day.  Another of God's special blessings.

As I looked from our front porch I could see the tall magnolia tree standing across the street, and I noticed something red on it. So of course I had to go have a closer look!
These are the magnolia seeds that develop on the "cones" after the tree is finished blooming for the summer. Another of God's autumn beauties!

Oh, back across Still Waters Pond I noticed these two Sand Hill Cranes walking around one evening. I do hope they will come back and stay...and perhaps decide to build their nest here on our pond this year.

In our own yard these Holly trees are so full of berries this year...I wonder if that is a sign of a cold winter? I don't remember having so many holly berries on these trees last year.

These are getting redder every day.

People keep remarking about our cornstalks growing under the bird feeder!
This one in particular is getting taller every day.
Upon closer inspection, I noticed that it is actually growing an ear of corn in the middle of the stalk! Wow! We may have our own corn crop yet, thanks to our bird seed!

Ever since we put the roof over our back deck I've been wanting to hang out this windchime that was a gift in memory of our son Matthew. I've kept it here inside beside my desk because there was no good place to hang it outside until now.

Now I can see it from my "open window" in my "room with a view", and possibly even hear it chime  when the wind blows. I'm not sure how well I will hear it with the windows closed, but it will be a delight when we are sitting out on the porch this fall.

Yesterday we went grocery shopping at Publix, and I saw this mug for sale. Since this is my birthday week I justified my buying it for myself. Hubby was there with me and said to go ahead and add it to my birthday gifts. I love these mugs that have something positive to say.

This one says:
"The whole world is a series of miracles,
but we're so used to them we call them
ordinary things."
Hans Christian Anderson

I am grateful for the "ordinary things" that truly are God's miracles sent to bless us each day.

Like breakfast on the porch overlooking Still Waters Pond with my hubby.

And grateful for the miracle of beautiful skies, created by the Master Designer, God Himself, with such amazing strokes of His paintbrush...

This was the scene in the skies last evening when we were headed for our walk...

I wish you could have seen the actual rainbow of colors around that sun shining through the clouds.

But then, not to be outdone, this morning's sunrise was also another beauty to behold:

Photos taken from our front porch as the sun was peeking up above the trees.

And then this glorious swirl of pinks and blues in the skies overhead before the clouds moved in and covered it back up.  You had to be quick to see this masterpiece this morning! I'm so glad the Lord nudged me to take a look out the front door before it was too late! In another minute I would have missed this blessing!

Yes, like the quote on the mug said,

"The whole world is a series of miracles,
but we're so used to them we call them
ordinary things."

Hans Christian Anderson

Psalm 150
1.  Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
2 Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!

  2. Magnolia seeds?! I'm going to look more closely while at Village Green tomorrow. That's my favorite of all God's trees. Love your coffee mugs! I've had to curb my addiction to collecting 'mugs with meaning', but still need one for Tuesday mornings.

    1. You have to be quick to see the red seeds on the magnolias. The squirrels and probably some birds love them, and they seem to fall off quick too. I was happy to see so many still attached! Yes, I have too many mugs, but I enjoy the ones that have something meaningful to say, so I couldn't resist, especially since this is my birthday week. Have a blessed day!

  4. Praise The Lord! He is so worthy of our praises. I totally agree that we need to be aware of the beauty God is creating all around us. I love that new cup,it is pretty and has such a meaningful verse on it.

    1. Thank you, Ruth. You and I seem to both have an eye for God's beauty around us. It's so wonderful to see what God is going to show us each day, isn't it? Yes, that cup just jumped out at me at the store. It's what I often think. God's miracles are all around us and we tend to take them for granted. I try not to do that.

  5. Fall on your porch looks so inviting. It's wonderful that you have a room with a view, the view from my room is a wood fence. lol That's okay, I have nice views in other areas. I love seeing all of God's beauty in each season, but Fall is the best. I don't remember seeing that red on the magnolia trees around here. How did I miss that? Our neighbors have one and I'm going to watch it carefully for that touch of red. I often think of the Sand Crane family from your previous home, I enjoyed their adventure. I hope your corn stalk produces one more ear, you need enough for two! :)

    1. There is another smaller stalk coming up that might get an ear too! Wouldn't that be funny? From Bird seed? The magnolia seeds fall out pretty quick, or the squirrels get them...so you may not see them in time. You have a lovely porch and I love to see your pictures of wherever you may be!! Always special!

  6. Oh, my word, Pamela, what amazing photos you have linked to the miracles of God that are all around us! I so adored the quote from Hans Christian Anderson, because it is so true. Miracles are all around us, and we cannot afford to become complacent to the glory that is God's. Thank you for sharing how you meet the miraculous in the mundane, my friend.
    Blessings!

    1. Oh, my dear friend Martha, thank you so much! I love that thought..."meeting the miraculous in the mundane"...yes...there is so much joy and beauty surrounding us, placed here by God's loving hands in His creation...even in the mundane, if we just open our eyes and let Him show us His handiwork! He created all this loveliness for us to enjoy. We are so blessed to be His children!! Have a marvelous day and weekend, my dear friend. Praying for you.

    1. Oh, Thank you sweet friend! (What is your real name, Beach Gypsy?) You are the very first to sing Happy Birthday to me this morning! I see you were up at 3:51 am to do it too! Wowza! (to quote you!) Thank you! A great way to start my special day. And yes, I agree, God HAS been extra generous with the clouds and pretty skies this year. Maybe that is His gift to us since we are so "homebound"...He gave us something beautiful to look at in the heavens...if we would just look UP toward Him instead of around at our circumstances!! Thank you again for your sweet words. Our big celebration will actually be tomorrow with family and friends, but today there will also be some special times together. God is so good, He's so good to me. Thank you!

    1. Thank you, Annie. We do have some fall color starting to show here and there. Florida isn't all palm trees and sand! Where we live, in the north central part of the state, gets pretty in fall...just not as pretty up north. Thank you for the birthday wishes. I am celebrating all weekend long! :)

  11. Such beautiful photos, Pam!! I love your birthday mug! A great quote! I had to do some research on Maple Trees because I didn't think they would grow in Florida. The maple tree that I grew up with in our backyard in Ohio would not grown here but there are four types of maple trees that will grow in Florida. Interesting!! The weekend is here!!

    1. Thank you, Terri! I'm glad to know there are four types of Maple trees here in Florida. Up in this part of the state there are quite a few, especially in wetter areas alongside rivers and ponds! They like to be near water apparently. They aren't as colorful as our northern maples, but they definitely do add some lovely color to our otherwise drab autumn! If you drive up highway 19 from Umatilla to Palatka, which runs along the Ocklawaha River in places and near the St. John's River in other places, you will see a lot of maples the further north you get. It is getting really pretty just about now and in the next month. So come see us and enjoy a beautiful ride!
