Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

Friday Foto Friends: Room With A View
Yes, it's September...we've been discussing that for several days now.
Since it's Friday Foto Friends day, I might as well share a few more things from September!
Like this September teacup!
(and that lovely tea towel that was a gift from one of our blogging friends who visited here in person last year...she knows who she is!)
Sadly, I don't remember for sure who gave me this tea cup. It was probably a birthday gift one year...and I enjoy using it all month long!
(if you happen to be reading this post and you know that you gave me this cup, please refresh my memory! I'm getting forgetful in my old age).
Time to change the calendars...and this one is my TeaTimes Calendar.
Yes, that is a quail tea set. Very unusual!
And this is my other calendar by the artist John Sloane. I love his artwork. Wouldn't you love to be sitting there under that weeping willow tree with that lovely view and having a picnic with someone you love? Love that red car too! There is so much to love in this picture...the collie dog...the red barn...
You can see that it hangs on the wall next to my desk and window to the back porch...
My "Room with a View"
(another gift from that dear friend who visited last year!)
Since we put the roof over the deck I can now open the blinds on this window and enjoy the view all day long. I used to have to close them most of the day because the sun was too bright and hot.
Hopefully I will be able to see more views like these from my open window in my
"room with a view"
This Great Blue Heron who was fishing for his supper out in Still Waters Pond
Now I can sit here at my desk as I write to you and give you an update on the weather moment by moment. Earlier it was bright and sunny and hot. 93 degrees at 6:30 pm! (And we still went and took a walk...the heat index was 106! Not my idea of a pleasant walk) (This was written Thursday evening)
Now it is pouring down rain and the wind is very fierce. There have also been bright flashes of lightning and extremely loud thunder:
And ten minutes later the sky is all golden:
(And the temperature has dropped down to 81 degrees!)
This is how the skies looked last night:
And this is how they looked early this morning when we first woke up! There was a full moon shining on the pond! It was extremely muggy and warm this morning...the air was heavy and thick with humidity, but that September moon made me smile.
All these views from my open window in my "room with a view" remind me of these verses and the song that came from them:
Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV
22. "Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23. They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness."
Won't you sing along with me?
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
"Great is Thy faithfulness, " O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
"Great is Thy faithfulness!" "Great is Thy faithfulness!"
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
"Great is Thy faithfulness, " Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
"Great is Thy faithfulness!" "Great is Thy faithfulness!"
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
"Great is Thy faithfulness, " Lord, unto me!
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
"Great is Thy faithfulness!" "Great is Thy faithfulness!"
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
"Great is Thy faithfulness, " Lord, unto me!
Amen.
Have a blessed and beautiful September day!

The windows are all dripping this morning! It is SO humid! I'm trying to decide whether to walk this morning. I'll be happy when it cools just a bit. Love your beautiful view and that big Heron! Happy day!
ReplyDeleteWe took our usual early morning walk, but it was so humid and not a breeze to be felt. We decided not to go this evening. We did some shopping in town today in air conditioning to get more walking done. Yes, I am looking forward to the weather cooling down. I hope it is soon!! Thank you for visiting! It's always more fun with friends!
DeleteI think someone is going to enjoy looking out that window now. I hope you share more of what goes on out of it.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, I am enjoying it right now as I write. I washed the window too, which helped a lot! LOL. I hope when it cools down a bit the geese and ducks will be back again. That will make for some real entertainment. Have a blessed weekend.
DeleteI love your pretty treasure and your beautiful views. You are on such a nice piece of property! Have a great weekend Pamela :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. We are very thankful to have found this place. It isn't perfect, but it is pretty close to it. We are enjoying it so much more now that we don't have to close the blinds all day long! I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day weekend too.
DeleteBeautiful photos...I hope you have a lovely Friday, Pamela. smiles
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. It has been a nice day. We went to town and stopped at Home Depot, Lowes, bought some mums, found a little farm stand and bought some fresh tomatoes and green pepper and a watermelon. So now I am ready for the weekend. Oh, and stopped at the grocery store and bought some ribeyes! They were on sale! So our son will grill those for us tomorrow night! Yay! Happy Labor Day weekend to you all too.
DeleteI enjoyed all your lovely photos as always, Pamela! And the weather in Florida does seem to be fickle, doesn't it? Hoping the temperatures will begin cooling off so you can better enjoy your daily walks.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Yes, fickle is a good way to put our weather. But one thing we can be assured of...it is always going to be HOT in the summer, especially this August and now Sept. have been very hot and humid. Praying for a break in that weather soon! We had to go to town and walk in AC stores today to get our exercise! Have a blessed weekend!
DeleteLove that hymn and the view from your desk. I probably wouldn't get much done if I sat there. I'd be too "busy" watching out the window. Thanks for sharing your view. Blessings on your day!
ReplyDeleteYou are right...I am sitting here now looking out the window and my fingers keep hitting the wrong keys as I type because I am not paying attention to what I am writing very well. LOL. It's too hot to sit on the porch, so I am glad I can sit inside where it is cool and still see the view. I hope you can enjoy your pool this weekend. If I had a pool, I'd probably be living in it these days! Have a wonderful labor day weekend.

ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope you are doing well and that you will have a blessed weekend.
DeleteLove your view and so happy for you that now you can leave the window open all day. Happy for us too because that means more great photographs.
ReplyDeleteYes, thank you. It is too hot to sit on the porch, but I can sit inside in the AC and pretend I am still on the porch as I look out the window. Nothing too exciting going on out there now, but it is peaceful and calming. Hope you have a blessed and beautiful Labor Day weekend! I hope that means you get Monday off?! Enjoy.
DeleteGorgeous teacup!I also love the other beautiful pictures.Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love this little September teacup. I wish I knew who gave it to me...I'd call them up and thank them again! I have an idea, but not certain. Anyway, thank you for visiting today. Please come again!
DeleteI so enjoyed listening to that hymn and sharing your view! I've no place for a calendar like yours, but may look for a screen saver akin to that sweet scene! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI think you can get these calendars as screen savers, but I don't know what you'd have to pay for it. Thank you for visiting and singing along with me! Have a blessed weekend.
DeleteFun to see your pretty calendars and your September tea cup. How nice that you can now enjoy the view from your window all day. I see a dinner bell similar to mine. I love late afternoon rain when it cools off the day! Wishing you and yours a blessed holiday weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mildred. So wonderful to hear from you. Yes I am enjoying the view from inside the house with the air conditioning. It is too hot and humid to porch sit right now. Is it still pretty hot where you live? I know September can be very hot there as well. But fall is coming...I pray soon! Have a blessed and happy holiday weekend.
DeletePam, what great photos...so relaxing to think about sitting with a cup of tea and basking in nature--even if it's through a window. Oh...where would we be without God's faithfulness.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy September and all the changes it brings!
Love and blessings!
Thank you, Kim. Yes, sometimes we just need to take a little break and enjoy God's beautiful creation while we relax with a cup of tea or iced tea or whatever we enjoy, and give Him praise for the beauty He has provided. Without God's faithfulness...? I don't want to even think about it. We are so blessed because of His faithfulness. Praise God.
DeleteBeautiful views from your window. What a blessing to be able to enjoy God's creative display from the comfort of your home. Yes, Great is Thy Faithfulness .
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ruth. When the weather is as hot and sultry as it has been here lately, I am very thankful to be able to enjoy the view from inside the Air Conditioned house! Yes, God is faithful and we are so blessed to be His children!
DeleteGreat hymn! Amen! I always enjoy seeing your treasures an your beautiful views!! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Terri. So happy you could pop in for a visit! I hope you have a blessed and wonderful weekend with your family. Happy Birthday to Joe!! Drive safely and have a great time.

ReplyDeleteCatching up on the week’s blog reading here with my comments on your recent posts all at one place.
I like your phrase, “a little less hot.” That’s a good way to describe September since “cooler” is still not accurate here in Florida.
Sadly, I had to dispose of my original Barbie doll when we left Colorado. She had been exposed to so many climate changes over the years with my family’s many move to different climates. Her plastic complexion had become a sticky mess. Mine was like yours except she had the blonde ponytail.
Autograph books! I have not thought of them in a very long time. Mine are long gone. They were fun.
I am very happy for you that the roof on your back deck is installed and serving you well. Like you, I love being able to look outside the windows without being blinded. The Lord knew you would be very grateful for this blessing.
I enjoyed the pictures of your girlhood friends. They are very cheery looking people! We definitely grew up in the same generation. I wish I had known you back in those days.
Thank you, Barbara, for your sweet words as always. I'm frustrated that I can't comment on your last blog post, so I will say that I loved it here. That Mrs. Bell lady is quite the treasure, and I am happy you included her in your story! She serves a very important role in your little staff!! I do wish she would smile, however! LOL. I love that you and I both enjoy playing with our "toys" still, dolls and other clever "people". It is because we grew up in the same generation, and we learned to use our imaginations and play "pretend" a lot. Remember saying, "Let's pretend we are...." whatever the situation may be? I think that is what is missing in today's children's lives. They don't get to pretend enough. So sad. Have a blessed Sunday today!
DeleteHi there Pam, another lovely post......love seeing the pretty things, like the tea cups! Loved that picture of the heron stalking is food and all the scenes of your window view, so nice! Wow, the moon sure HAS BEEN pretty hasn't it? I love to look at it. I love love loved the previous post......oh my goodness girlfriend YES I REMEMBER the lil autograph books, I had one too and I loved it so much. Not sure what ever happened to it.......guess maybe it got thrown out or lost in a move or something. Seeing yours sure brought back some precious memories. I'm so glad you shared that and all the cute little sayings we used to write in the books!!---I remember those and so many others like the "roses are red violets are blue" ones and RMA (remember me always) and LYLAS (love ya like a sister) and just so many more. What a fun time we had growing up. I'm so sad for the youth and children of today--their generation is so so different and I feel they are missing out on so much. Their safety for sure and just the innocence we had that they don't. And playing OUTSIDE. Neighborhood friends. I see your "Tansy" doll in the picture.......actually your Barbie doll! ha ha LOL. Mine turned 60 a couple years ago, she's the 1959 model. My mom gave her to me so many years ago and I treasure her, well I always DID....BUT more so now that my Mom is gone. I love the b/day pictures of us back in that era at b/day parties.........we all dressed our best to attend parties....pretty dresses, lacey socks and mary jane shoes. A b/day party was a special occasion and we dressed accordingly.Such a different era....nobody slobbed around in pj's etc. Hope y'all are having a nice holiday weekend, stay safe and stay cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting here and there on my last post as well! Yes, we did grow up in the right time...we knew how to use our imaginations and play "let's pretend" all kinds of fun things. It makes our lives today that much richer because we still have that same creative spirit that helps us to see the joy and fun in our world around us. You should bring your "Tansy" over to play with my Barbie some day! They could talk about the olden days too! LOL. Such fun. Have a blessed and beautiful Sunday today!
