Just a Closer Walk With Thee

 Good Sunday Morning everyone! I know, it's afternoon by now...I'm a little late getting here, but I've been to church and "brunch" with our church friends, and have had my little nap, and now am ready to visit with you for a spell.  Does anyone else take a Sunday afternoon nap? Just wondering...of course for some of us it's just par for the course for the whole week...I would have done real well living in the Latin American countries where an afternoon "siesta" is a normal part of every day.  LOL.

If you've enjoyed listening to our Sunday morning worship services, here is the link for today's message, preceded by the Praise Team singing "Just A Closer Walk With Thee".  Won't you join in and sing along?

1 I am weak but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I'll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Refrain:
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

2 Thro' this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
[Refrain]
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

3 When my feeble life is o'er,
Time for me will be no more;

Guide me gently, safely o'er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

[Refrain]
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

During these difficult days I find that it is really important to walk closely with the Lord. We start our day out with a daily devotional reading and reading from the Scriptures. We pray before each meal and again at bedtime, not to mention quick little prayers throughout the day as we see needs to pray for friends, loved ones, and even people that we don't know that we hear about who need prayer. We often talk about our relationship with the Lord here and on Facebook, or even in personal conversations with friends or family.  When I see the turmoil and daily crises that people are enduring in the world, I wonder how they can survive without a close walk with the Lord. I know when we've gone through difficult times in life, it was our relationship with Jesus Christ that carried us through and gave us strength to keep going.

Here is one of my most favorite passages in the Bible, which has been a constant source of encouragement especially when feeling weary:

Isaiah 40:28-31 NKJV

28 "Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
31 But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint."

I hope you are enjoying a beautiful "SONday", and that you are taking that "closer walk with Thee" every day.  It will make your walk through this life ever so much better.

    1. Thank you, Mildred. I'm glad you enjoyed the song as well as the scripture. We are having a pleasant evening...we had thunderstorms and it cooled it down a little bit. Hope you have a wonderful week.

  2. Pam, I long for a closer walk with the Lord--in times like this (and all times!), we really need the Lord.

    As for the Sunday afternoon nap? Yes, those do happen from time to time--and sometimes on other days too. There's something that's truly helpful in taking a short nap to recharge our batteries.

    Love and blessings!

    1. Yes, "In times like these, (we) need a Savior"...and yes, in ALL times we need the Lord. Where would we be without Him? And those naps...well, my batteries need recharging regularly. They aren't quite like the "Everyready Bunny" anymore. LOL.

  4. Beautiful pictures. Thanks for reminding me of the old hymn Just A Closer Walk. Great song. Yes, if I didn’t have the assurance that Christ is with me every step of the way, I couldn’t go on. He is my Strength and my constant Guide.

    1. Thank you, Mevely! I am so glad you are a "nap buddy"! When we lay our heads down for an afternoon nap, we can relax knowing that our friends are napping too, so we shouldn't miss anything for a little while! LOL. And yes, that old hymn is one of my favorites too...so glad you know to walk with Jesus!!!

  7. Pamela, true confessions here, and I would so appreciate your prayers. For the last few weeks, I've felt under attack by the enemy as I seek to have that closer walk with Jesus. I know He is in my corner, come what may, but I really feel the need of friends to rally with me. Will you be one of them? Know my prayers for you and for John are daily callings for me.
    Blessings!

    1. Oh my dear Martha, of course I will "rally with you" in prayer as you seek to draw the closer to the Lord. We are all feeling these attacks these days, because so much seems to be at stake in our country, and it affects our personal safety and confidence. We need so much to walk closely with the Lord, so that we can fight off these attacks of the enemy of our soul. Keep your "armor" on...you know the armor of the Lord...and stay in God's Word daily. He will carry you through, but yes, I will be praying for you and Danny too. That is what this fellowship here is all about...caring for our dear friends in Christ. Amen!

    1. Oh, I would love to see your stitching of the eagle and verse...I know it must be amazing! One of my favorite verses too. I have a little stained glass picture of an eagle with that verse too, hanging in my kitchen window. And oh, to walk more closely with our Savior...we sure need it these days, right? Have a blessed day and week my friend.

  12. Yes, we take Sunday afternoon naps around here (and often on the other 6 days of the week, too!).
    The music from your church was lovely. The snapshot of the dragonfly is so close up and detailed. Our Creator God is big on beautiful details!

    1. Thank you, Barbara. We enjoy singing for the Lord. We aren't professional or fancy, and we tape them at our "practice" so we don't really look like Sunday morning very much, but it's the message that counts. Yes, I love those dragonflies. They are very uniquely designed by the Master Designer!
