Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!
What Do You See Outside YOUR Open Window Today?

Good Sunday Morning!
Good Sunday Morning! Welcome to our worship service today. Won't you join us as we praise the Lord and study from God's Word?
I hope you enjoy our Praise Team starting out the service singing "I'll Fly Away".
Please join in and sing along:
Some glad morning when this life is o'er,
I'll fly away;
To a home on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
Chorus
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
2.
When the shadows of this life have gone,
I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison bars has flown,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away)
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
3.
Just a few more weary days and then,
I'll fly away;
To a land where joy shall never end,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away)
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away (I'll fly away).
I enjoyed watching our Praise Team singing this today, and yes, I am the one in the middle singing alto. However, I am not really there today singing at our church. We pre-record these ahead of time for this online service, and then yes, we do sing again in person on Sunday mornings, but I am not there today.
I seem to have caught a cold or am having a seasonal allergy sinusitis, so I stayed home from church. No, I don't have a fever, and I don't have Covid 19. This is my typical seasonal change sinusitis, and I just need to rest, drink lots of fluids, take lots of Vitamin C and stay home. I made some jello, and I may just have some chicken noodle soup for lunch. I like the Campbell's chicken noodle soup for a quick lunch when I don't feel good. Yes, I am sure homemade soup would be much better, but when you don't feel good, who wants to mess with cooking a chicken, peeling carrots and cutting celery and onions and boiling noodles for homemade soup? Hmmm, it does sound good, doesn't it? But if I felt well enough to do all that work, I probably am well enough to go to church. So Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup will have to do for today. At least I made jello. LOL.
Here's a little "Chicken Soup for the Soul" from God's Word today:
Psalm 103:1-5
1. "Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2. Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all His benefits;
3. Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4. Who redeems your life from destruction,
who crowns you will lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5. Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."

ReplyDeletethank you, Sandi. Hope you are having a beautiful day.
DeleteI hope you feel better real soon. Those birds sure have the "I'll Fly Away" thing figured out!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Barbara. I'm sure I'll be fine...this seems to be an annual event. Yes, the birds know just how to "fly away". I look forward to the day that we can "fly away" into glory some day! But until then we will keep on keeping on, doing what we can for Jesus and His children. Have a blessed day.
DeleteSo sorry to hear that you are under the weather, Pamela, and do hope you get to feeling better quickly! "I'll Fly Away" has always been a favorite of mine, and the photos you chose to go with the lyrics are perfect. Thank you for brightening my Sunday!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Thank you, Martha. I am sure I'll be fine soon. Just a seasonal event for me. And until the Lord comes to call us all to "fly away", we will just keep on doing what we are supposed to do here. I hope you are having a blessed and beautiful Sunday.
DeleteI am sorry you are under the weather right now, Pam. Hope tomorrow finds you feeling better! Whenever there is a weather change, my head lets me know. I often say my head is a barometer and my sinuses always let me know. I love that song and did hum along!! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri. I was hoping this was just an allergy, but it feels like a good old fashioned cold today. Trying to stay quiet and drinking lots of fluids today. I'm glad you hummed along with the song. Right now I think I would love to "fly away". LOL. Have a blessed and beautiful Sunday and week.
DeleteSorry you had to miss church today and hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm trying. I do not like colds. Hopefully this one will "fly away" soon. Have a wonderful day my friend. Did you get lots of this rain?
DeleteHope you feel better soon! I grew up singing "I'll Fly Away". Always makes me think of my dad who led the singing at church when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love these old songs? I sure do, and we have fun singing them. Our people enjoy them too. One of the reasons we fell in love with this little church...they love to sing the old songs and do it with joy. Thank you for your kind words.
DeleteLove this song ... and seeing you perform! I made a HUGE bowl of raspberry-and-lemon jello just yesterday. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, raspberry-lemon sounds good. I actually made orange with pineapple, using the juice of the pineapple for the cold water. It was good and refreshing. Thank you for your kind words. Have a blessed day.
DeleteI hope you feel better soon Pamela. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Penny. I hope this will go away soon. Colds are NO fun!
DeleteHi, Sorry to hear you are under the weather. I always keep heat and eat soup handy for days I don't feel well. Fall is usually my worst time of the year for allergies and I must have sneezed 100 times yesterday. I pray you will feel better soon. I always enjoy the music from your Praise Team. This is a favorite old hymn. xo
ReplyDeleteThank you for popping and and enjoying the music with me. I love the old songs we sing. That is one of the reasons we fell in love with this church. I am sorry you are sneezing so much. Yes, allergy season is upon us, and I don't know for sure if this is a cold or allergy, but it feels more like a cold. I just hope it goes away quickly. I hope your allergies will subside soon too. Take care and God bless.
DeleteIts pollen and leaf time and the damp of weather takes a toll on health as well. Hope you feel better soon. I enjoyed the photos today.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Annie. Yes, I think it is a combination of things. I've just been resting and drinking hot tea, hot soup, jello and water today. Hopefully tomorrow I will feel like a human being again.
DeleteHope you get that out of your system quickly. jello and chicken noodle soup sound like a good start. Those are the things I want when I don’t feel well.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ruth. I am feeling some better today. Not blowing and sneezing so much. The chicken soup and jello must have helped! LOL!
DeleteI knew that was you!!!! That is one of my favorite songs. And I love soup and Jello. I have some leftover homemade Beef Veg. and if we lived closer, I would of gladly bought it over. smiles
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon, smiles.
Oh, that homemade beef vegetable soup sounds so good. Do you use real stew beef or ground beef? I've been craving some old fashioned beef vegetable with the stew beef. My MIL used to make that a lot (a huge pot and then eat it all week, which became a little "questionable" when we didn't know for sure HOW OLD it was...)but it was good and I miss it. I am too cheap to buy the stew beef, but I think I need to break down and do it. Hope your job stuff went well today. Praying this will be a great job for you. Such good news.
DeleteSimply beautiful, Pam! The praise music is wonderful!! I'm sorry to hear that you're under the weather. Colds/allergies aren't fun but do cause us to rest!
ReplyDeleteLove and blessings!
Thank you, Kim. I'm glad you enjoyed the music. We enjoy singing for the Lord. I am feeling a little better today...not sneezing and blowing so much. I've been resting a lot too. Very thankful it isn't worse. Have a blessed week.
DeletePamela it occured to me after reading that you might want to make some homemade chicken soup and freeze it in portions for just this kind of thing. I know I am going to do that now that I thought of it. I am always out of it when I get sick.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great idea. My only issue is freezer space. We really don't have much spare space in our freezer. (Don't have an extra freezer). But I will think about doing that next time I make some soup, because it seems like we always have leftovers and I hate to throw away good soup. Thank you for this good suggestion.
DeleteI do hope you are feeling better by now and I will tell you that Campbell’s Chechen noodle soup is my go to meal ... even during chemo... I like the home style with the smaller noodles the best. Orange jello always hits the spot too! Loved your singing!
ReplyDeleteOh Debby, I feel so honored to have you visit and comment. I think about you so often, and pray things are going well for you. I've been wondering about your house too, and how is it coming along? Praying for you every day. I'm glad you agree with my chicken soup/jello plan! God bless you dear friend.
DeleteHi Debby! So happy to see you out and about. ☺️
DeleteI enjoyed that very much! A whole lot of us are thinking more and more about "flying away" one way or another. Is that Debby up there?! Yay!
ReplyDeleteYes, that was our "Debby" up there. So happy to see her smiling face. And happy to see yours too! I enjoyed your Labor Day pictures so much. Reminded me of happy days with family around. And yes, I think we are all about ready to "fly away" these days. I know I'll be ready when the Lord calls us up and out! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteOh I hope that you are feeling better. I have allergies this time of season too. Started on allegra and sudafed last week. I had a can of tomato soup today for lunch. It was yummy too. I love that hymn, "I'll fly away". And I am like Vee....some of us are ready to fly away somewhere. LOL! I spent three days with Marty bow hunting and I told him with all the crazy going on that it would be nice to just stay in the woods, away from it all for a little while. He said yep, til we get hungry! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI am feeling much better today. I started on Claritin and that has helped a whole lot. I was taking Dayquil, thinking it was a cold, and that made it worse. The claritin stopped the constant sneezing and blowing and I am feeling a lot better. Hey, if you are out there bow hunting, you can just hunt for your food...and not have to come back! That's how I'd look at it! LOL. Hugs and blessings to you too.
DeleteCampbell's Chicken Noodle is my go to soup when I'm sick too! I love that song and your pictures are absolutely beautiful, as always. I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy. I am feeling much better today. So thankful. And where would we be without good old Campbell's soups when we really need them? Of course I still prefer homemade, but when you don't feel good it's good to let Campbell's do the work for you! Have a wonderful day.
