Saturday Wanderings

Good Saturday morning! I hope this day finds you happily enjoying a fall weekend in mid-October! We are still waiting for some real fall weather here in Florida. It may still be a while, but still we can get in the mood for it by getting outside and enjoying the less-humid days and bight sunshine and nice breezes, even if it is still in the low to mid 80's. It's still an improvement over summer, so I'm not complaining.

So I thought I'd take you along on a little walk with me to see what we can see. And wouldn't you know there would be this strange owl sitting there in the woods as we walked by....

Or maybe it is a cat watching for birds?  Well, it sure got my attention, whatever it was...

But then we saw this mysterious long arm reaching up into the trees,  making a loud whirring sound...and, oh no! It had a whirling saw blade for a hand!  Yikes! We'd better get out of here! The aliens have landed and they are cutting down everything in their path!!

He better watch out for that power line right above him...that could be disastrous!

Oh, look, there's a cab of some kind, with a human being inside...well, what do you know? It's the tree service people trimming back the tree limbs from the power lines! Whew! That was a close one!

And now I know what our mysterious owl/cat is....a trimmed tree trunk!

Did you already figure that out? Well, maybe I had you going there for a minute or two.  LOL.
Now that the excitement is over, let's continue our walk, okay?

Oh, watch out!!! If you don't watch where you are going, you may run into one of these!

Looks like something already did try to fly through it!!
Glad I saw it before I got this tangled up in my hair!!

When you're walking in the woods on a dewy morning, everything just takes on an ethereal, fairy like appearance.  I love walking through what I call "God's Garden"...the wildflowers He has planted alongside our roads and in the woods...they didn't need any man's help to grow and be beautiful...God provided all they needed, and we are just supposed to enjoy!

When I stepped into the woods and saw this carpet of yellow wild daisies (not their real name, but you know what I mean) scattered out before me...I was in awe.

The little light greenish spongy stuff is called "deer moss".  It is a type of lichen that grows all over our sandy forest floors, and I assume the deer must like it, or why else was it called deer moss? Maybe someone knows...God knows...but anyway...this just looks to me like God scattered His flower seeds randomly all over the forest, just for us to enjoy!!

Oh, but be careful!  Sometimes there may be thorns among the beauty...keep your eyes open at all times!

A brush against one of these lovely cactus plants could bring you to your knees in pain!
But you should see how lovely the cactus flower is in the spring. I'll save that for spring. This is fall.
Stick to the script, Pam.

I wanted to just gather up this lovely bouquet and take it home with me, but I decided to leave it here for the deer, squirrels, raccoon, bugs, bees, and birds to enjoy. After all, this is their woods, their garden, and just maybe God planted all these flowers for them to enjoy too!

So I will leave the woods for a while and move on to something else.... But I hope you enjoyed this walk in the woods with me this morning.

Let's see, what else is going on in "my neck of the woods"?

Oh hello!  This is Scott, our #3 son, who lives here at home, but who also works almost every single day at a job 50 miles away.  Yes, as you can see by his t-shirt, he's Mom's favorite.  But our other son who lives nearby also has a t-shirt like that  and so does Lily Grace, so no worries...we really don't play favorites here. We just have a lot of fun pretending.

Anyway, when he's not commuting to and from work and when he has some spare time, he spends most of it working on this car, his "baby", his 1983  1991 Camaro Z28. (I stand corrected by the expert! He USED to have 1983 or 84, but it looked a lot like this so what do I know? LOL)  This is probably his 4th or 5th Camaro that he has had in his life, I'm not sure. I lost count, but he could sure tell you every detail. He tried Mustangs for a little while, but came back to Camaro...his pride and joy.  Anyway, he spends a lot of time outside working on this car. Yes, it does run, and yes, he sometimes drives it to work, but he also has that Chevy truck back there that he drives in case the Camaro needs more work... (this is why he's not married and still living at home, btw. LOL. He can't afford a wife and a Camaro project car...)

Anyway, he was getting tired of always working in the hot sun and also not having his car sheltered from the elements. So he ordered this canopy carport and it arrived yesterday.  I should have taken pictures of him (and his Dad and I) trying to put this thing up. But I will leave that scenario to your imagination.  It wasn't easy.  No matter what these advertisements tell you, it wasn't easy. Trust me.

But it is up. There are sides, but for now he left them off. He was out there working on this thing till after dark.  But he got it done, and now he's happy, and I'm relieved. No fingers, arms, or heads were broken in the construction of this carport. And thankfully it is behind the shed so it doesn't show up from the street. And actually it doesn't look all that bad anyway.  And now he has a shady place to work. So all's well that ends well.  (I just pray a hurricane doesn't come along to blow it away.)

Well, I've finished my cup of tea

Put the flag out on the front porch and checked to see if there was a sunrise...well, it's rising!
Praise God!

Took a look at my potted mums on the front porch to see if they need watering again...

And now I will close this post with a picture of the sunset from last night on Still Waters Pond:

I hope you are having a pleasant start to your Saturday morning.
I'm off to go have devotions with my hubby, then eat something for breakfast, and then we will decide what's next for the day! No special plans.
What about you?

We will rejoice and be glad in it"
