Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

"I Was In His Mind"
I was thinking about this song from back in the 70's or 80's, anyway, a long time ago. I remember singing it as a solo in church way back when:
"I was in His mind before the worlds were made,
I was in His mind before earth's frame was laid,
because He knew me, because He loved me!
I was in His thoughts the night He prayed for me,
I was in His thoughts before Gethsemane,
because He saw me,
because He loved me!
I was in His heart when Calv'ry's hill He climbed,
I was in His heart when he died for all mankind,
because He sought me, because He loved me!
I am in His mind, and soon He'll come for me,
I am in His mind with Him in heav'n to be,
because He wants me, because He loves me,
because He loves me!"
(written by Jane LaRowe, copyright 1970)
Did you ever think about God knowing you way back before the worlds were made, even before earth's frame was laid? Wow! Can that be? And then to think that I was in His thoughts when He was praying in the garden of Gethsemane...and in His heart when He died on Calvary...but it gets even better yet...I am still in His mind, and one day He is coming back to take me to be with Him forever in heaven! And not just me...but you too, and everyone who believes in Jesus as Savior and Lord!
Psalm 139 says:
"1 O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
2 You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
3 You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
5 You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it.
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,”
Even the night shall be light about me;
12 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,
But the night shines as the day;
The darkness and the light are both alike to You.
13 For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.
19 Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God!
Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men.
20 For they speak against You wickedly;
Your enemies take Your name in vain.
21 Do I not hate them, O Lord, who hate You?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred;
I count them my enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting."
I find this very comforting during these days of Lent and preparing our hearts for the celebration of Easter once again, which will be here before we know it. Jesus knew me when He went to Calvary to die for me and for you. He knew you, and He loved us enough to die for us.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8
"Such knowledge is too wonderful for me! It is high, I cannot attain it!"
This week we have had several examples of God's love displayed for us. I can't go into the details, but I can only say that we are very very thankful for His provision and also for His protection in regards to members of our family. I can only say, "Our God is an awesome God!" and we are most grateful.

Yes, this is all so comforting. Beautifully penned, Pam. xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri. And I know God has YOU on His mind, especially this week. Praying for you and for your family...and especially Joey and Darlene. (((hugs))) and love to you today dear friend.
DeleteAmen. Beautiful, comforting verses.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Holly. I found them comforting too, and wanted to share them with you all.
DeleteI love that Psalm. What a comfort to know that god cares for me and leads me every step of the way.
ReplyDeleteYes, He definitely cares for you and He is always there, loving, guiding, protecting and comforting. Have a blessed day.
DeleteBeautiful song and scripture. I do often thing about how the Lord knew before we were even formed in our mother's womb. So amazing. The moment I read your title another song came to mind that I love. "He knew me, yet he loved me, He whose glory makes the heaven's shine, so unworthy of such mercy, when He was on the cross, I was on his mind" (He Knew Me by J. Crabb). Another awesome thought on which I often meditate.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that song too...yes isn't it wonderful to know that our Lord knows each one of us personally, and He knows exactly what we need at every moment...and He loved us so much that He willingly died for each and every one of us. We are blessed to be His children. Yes, that is an awesome thought. Have a blessed day.
DeleteAmen! Thank you for a wonderful word.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandi, for visiting. I've missed your posts! Have you given up your blog or just taking a break? You always have such interesting things to share. Thank you for stopping here. We always love to hear from you.
DeleteThanks, Pamela. I'm just taking a break.
DeleteWhat a God-incidence that my post today quotes from Psalm 139, too, Pamela. How I love it, and love knowing that God died for us when we were yet sinners. His love is simply unfathomable, and indeed, He knows us inside and out.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I noticed that! Must be a message that God wants to be shared, so the Holy Spirit laid it on both our hearts. Someone out there needed to know this. God bless you dear friend. You are such a blessing to me.
DeleteYes, how blessed we are. He's an "all-time high"! That wooden cross is lovely; did Benton and Rose craft it for you?
ReplyDeleteI've not heard that song before, but would have loved hearing your solo. (BTW, I'm an alto, too.)
Thank you, Myra. Yes, Benton built that last year for Easter. I need to put it back outside now as we are getting closer. It is a simple song to sing, but with a powerful message. Another alto!! We could sure use your voice here in our choir!
