Some Wonderful Blessings

Thankful Thursday and Friday Fotos...I seem to combine these two days a lot! I guess I don't have enough blog fodder to write as often as many others seem to be able to do...but tonight I am feeling thankful and happy, and I have a few pictures to share.  So here we go!

I'll start with some praises!  I first told you about this story HERE about six weeks ago.  Our son and his sweet wife Rose have a business called "Ben & Rose's Country Woodshop", where they build furniture and also refurbish vintage furniture to sell either online or in a couple different local locations.  Amazingly, their business has almost tripled in sales during this pandemic time. I guess people have been shopping from home and perhaps have spent more time fixing up their homes since they spend so much time there.  Well, for whatever reason, we know that it is God who is blessing their business and it is such a wonderful answer to prayer.

Anyway, in the previous mention post they were tearing down an old shed to make way for a new shed that would be a more efficient workspace for their business.  The new shed was ordered about six weeks ago, with the "promise" that it would be delivered in about three weeks. Well, three weeks turned into four, and then five, and finally today the new shed was delivered.  The shed company also has had a big increase in business and got behind in their orders.  It's wonderful to know that people are being blessed even during these difficult days.   So when the "kids" called to tell us the new shed had arrived, we dropped what we were doing (nothing much), and hurried right over to take some pictures.

Here is the shed sliding off the flatbed onto the ground...
It is fascinating to watch how these people move these sheds around with little wheels and a lift thingy. I don't know what it is called, but it is amazing to me to see how they can steer them into place...

I was a bit nervous watching it being moved between this tree and another tree on the other side. It was a very tight squeeze.

But once he got it past the trees he had to maneuver it between the house and the fence...
Again it was a tight squeeze...
Once he got it past the house and the fence he had to wiggle it around to the location where it was going to sit.
Our grandpuppies Sugar and Spice were watching from their little play yard, and barking at this strange big building moving into their territory...I imagine it was kind of frightening to such little doggies.
He finally got it moved into place, and got it settled down. However, we had to leave before he was finished as I had a hair appointment to get my hair cut! So we will go back over tomorrow and see the finished product.  But it was a very exciting day!!

The day started out with this pretty black and white cat laying down in the grass beside the pond, just enjoying lounging in the cool damp grass. This is a neighborhood cat, not sure who it belongs to, but it likes to come around and watch our birds...I don't think he is just watching for entertainment, however.
As you can see, he is in close proximity to the bird feeder, so I am sure he is hoping some bird will get careless and stay on the ground too long.  But when the kitty saw me, he knew his time was up and off he went in search of other prey.

Speaking of birds, we headed over to our church this morning so that I could practice some music for Sunday. I call these "Big Birds", but they are the neighborhood Sand Hill Cranes who like to hang around the church yard digging up grubs or worms or something from the ground.
Aren't they handsome?

Speaking of music, here I am practicing for a solo. We aren't able to have our choir or any congregational music at this time due to the CDC guidelines, but we can have some special music as long as the musicians are at least 12 feet away from the front of the audience and 6 feet away from anyone standing or sitting nearby.  I have not sung a solo in a long while, and I have a lot of old accompaniment cassette tapes from way back when I used to do a lot of singing. That should tell you how long it has been. Since we are now meeting in our fellowship hall instead of our sanctuary (because we can arrange seating better for 'social distancing'), we don't have our fancy sound system to use, and so my "boom box" with a tape player will actually work just fine in this room. We do have some microphones also, which is a good thing, as my voice is not strong enough to sing over the music. Hopefully it will work out okay on Sunday. Oh, the other perk is, I can take my mask off while singing, (as long as I am following the social distancing guidelines).  So that will give me a few minutes of fresh air to breathe.

Here is the song I will be singing, "There Is A Redeemer" by Keith Green.  I am praying the message will be a blessing to those who hear.  I love the music of Keith Green.  His music was very instrumental in leading my son to the Lord when he was a teenager. That is the son who is in heaven today. So whenever I hear a song by Keith Green, I think of our son Matthew, and I thank the Lord for the powerful testimony of this young man.
There Is a Redeemer

There is a Redeemer
Jesus, God's own Son
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah
Holy One
Jesus my Redeemer
Name above all names
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah
Oh, for sinners slain
Thank you, oh my Father
For giving us Your Son
And leaving Your Spirit
'Til the work on Earth is done
When I stand in Glory
I will see His face
And there I'll serve my King forever
In that Holy Place
Thank you, oh my Father
For giving us Your Son
And leaving Your Spirit
'Til the work on Earth is done
There is a Redeemer
Jesus, God's own Son
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah
Holy One
Thank you, oh my Father
For giving us Your Son
And leaving Your Spirit
'Til the work on Earth is done
And leaving Your Spirit
'Til the work on Earth is done

One other praise item...today my husband realized that he had misplaced his cell phone at some point in the past 24 hours, but couldn't figure out where or when. He doesn't use it much so hadn't missed it. We tried calling the phone to see if we could hear it ringing in some strange place , but there was no sound anywhere.  We searched the car, and every place in the house we could think of as a possibility, figuring it was probably dead and not able to ring anyway.  We took a ride to where we take our walks to see if it had fallen out of the car there (that did happen once before...)  but no sign of it.  So we came back home and I looked everywhere again, and just prayed, asking the Lord to find it for us.  Then I remembered that we had gone shopping at Publix yesterday morning, which is about 15 miles away.  So I called them to see if anyone had turned in a cell phone, and I described it to her.  She came back in a minute and said she had a phone that met that description with a phone call showing on it from "Pam Steiner". I said, yes, that's the one, and that's me! I've been calling it over and over again! I thanked her and told her we'd be in tomorrow morning to pick it up.  And now I thank the Lord! I love how He takes care of even the "little things" in life like a cell phone.  And if He cares about the "little things" in life, think how much more He cares about the "big things" in our lives!

I will close with these verses from our morning devotions, from Matthew 11:28-30

28.  "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
29.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
30.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

  2. Good Morning, I am so thankful that Ben and Rose's business is doing well and that their new building has finally arrived. It's very nice! John has one, smaller, that he really enjoys. The Keith Green lyrics are beautiful. Thank you for sharing why this song is special to you and your family. So happy that someone was kind enough to turn your phone in and that the Lord led you to it. Have a lovely day and weekend.

  5. What a beautiful shed! Yes, people are ordering so many things online these days that items are slower to arrive. We are still awaiting a treadmill we ordered back in June. So glad John's cell phone was found, too! It is such a pain to have to replace a lost one.
Thanks, Pamela, for the great photos, and happy for you that you can actually sing in church. Such a blessing!

  11. Pam, thank you for your glimpse into your life. How exciting that you get to do a solo. I'm familiar with the song you are singing. It would be nice to hear you sing. Oh...and the blessing of increasing business at Ben and Rose's shop is wonderful!

It deeply pains me that the government is putting all these restrictions on gatherings, especially at CHURCH! So where are the "separation of church and state people"? (By the way, there's no such thing as "separation of church and state" in the constitution.)

    Love and blessings!

    1. thank you, Kim. I'm not too sure my singing will be worthy of recording, but it will be sung from the heart. It's been a while since I sang any solos. The CDC guidelines are being followed strictly by our District Supt., and churches need to comply because we don't want anyone to get sick at our church service. I just don't know how long we will have to continue such strict rules, but with the current spike upward here in Florida, it may be a while. For now, it is a small price to pay for the joy of being together again for worship.

  13. I have tears in my eyes from the song lyrics... so beautiful and powerful. I couldn't help but think that's the joy of the Lord bubbling up inside me. I'm so glad you found the cell phone... yes, PTL! 🙌 My sweet Sage loves to watch the birdies... but out of the window! ☺ Happy SONday, sweet Friend! 💜

  14. Amen! God guided you to find you hubby's cell phone. Last week we had a time where all we could do was pray about an issue that was going on here locally. The situation got straighted out and there was an apology from two of our conference leaders. We prayed and God answered. Peace and blessings.
