I have decided to join in with the "Tuesday 4" meme this week, in memory and honor of our dear blogging friend Toni Taddeo, who started this weekly challenge. Now our friend
Annie at Cottage By The Sea has taken on this meme so that we can continue Toni's wonderful ideas. So here goes:
Hobby Girls..
Tuesday 4 #3
Welcome once again to Tuesday 4 where we are interested in helping to make new friends in the blogging community and get to know one another as well as supply you with some blog material!
Here are this week's questions for you to ponder and share with others on the subject of Hobbies and interests. If you don't have a hobby, there are things that interest you from collecting to politics, everyone has something they especially find interesting.

Holly Hobby seems to enjoy quilting with friends! |
Here we go!......
1. Do you have a hobby or a special interest? Do you quilt, crochet, cook, sew, collect things, sing, play an instrument, love dolls , politics, learning, reading, biking, hiking, camping, swimming, flower arranging, watching TV? Do you love to entertain, set a beautiful table or just take a walk? Share it with us won't you? Why do you enjoy it? Can you tell us how you became interested or what particularly interests
you about your hobby.
Would you share some photos or pictures of your hobbies or interests or lovely things you've seen along the way?
1. My hobbies are pretty simple. I don't do any kind of sewing, quilting, or other crafts. I do, however, love to take pictures of God's beautiful creation all around us, wherever we go. You can usually see me with my camera around my neck anytime I am outdoors. Or lately I have been using my cell phone camera quite a bit except for long distance photos. Here is an example of one of my favorite subjects right now, the Canadian Geese on our lovely pond, "Still Waters Pond".
I do also love to sing, and am currently in our church choir. We recently did our Christmas Cantata, and now soon will begin working on our Easter Cantata.
Reading is also a favorite pasttime for me. I recently joined our local library here in our new community and am exploring the interesting options they have available. I enjoy mysteries, mostly Christian fiction and non-fiction, old fashioned romances and adventure stories from the turn of the last century. Here is a sample of some of the old books that I have and love in my collection:
I did recently read a new book that is a best-seller, Where the Crawdads Sing, by Delia Owens. I enjoyed it very much. It was a bit different from the books I usually read, but very fascinating.

2. Gardening is a hobby for some.
Do you garden or grow house plants?
What do you like about it? What are your favorite plants inside or out? Pictures? We'd love to see photos of you house or garden plants or hear about ideas you have for growing things or creating beauty with plants around the house.
2. Gardening: Since moving to our new home recently I have not really been able to get started on gardening. We left behind many beautiful plants and flowers at our former home, and I must admit I am missing them now. Spring is coming and I know they will be blooming. One thing I am hoping to do in the near future is reestablish a "Secret Garden" here at our new home. It will be different from the one I had before, but still a special place where I can sit and watch the birds, read and meditate on God's Word, and do some writing in my journal like I used to do.
This is the area in our yard where I love to sit and look at the pond:
Here is a picture of my former "Secret Garden":
3. If you could design a dream garden or park , how would you do it? What would it contain.? Maybe include a picture from the net of one you think closely fits your dream garden.
3. I think my dream garden or park will be very similar to what I have here already. A view of the pond, and also a nice place to sit in the shade. I would love a swing large enough for two...that is something to put on the list. I love flowers blooming at different times of the year, so I would plant a perpetual garden that has something different to bloom in every season.
4. Do you like being outdoors? If so, what attracts you to the great outdoors and if not, what keeps you inside?
Do you walk in the rain? Are there parks near you that you like to visit?
4. Yes, I love the outdoors. I love taking walks and taking pictures of nature, birds, trees, flowers, sky, sunsets and sunrises. If anything keeps me inside, it would be inclement weather and household duties. But if I had my choice, I could stay outside most of the day just sitting and watching the birds on the pond (ducks, geese, herons, etc.), or at the bird feeders.
No, I don't generally like to walk in the rain. I guess I don't visit parks very often. I prefer the more natural state of things...
I hope you enjoyed visiting here today and getting to know a little more about me. Of course, if you have been reading my blog for long, you probably already knew all of this.

You take beautiful photos! The view around your place is stunning, and you capture it beautifully. Oh, my land, your books! The covers are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a fun meme. I will have to jump in one of these Tuesdays.
This was my first time joining in. It promises to be interesting every week, so please do check it out. I am glad you like my books. I have collected these for years and even though they are quite old and some are falling apart, I can't bear to let go of them. They are wonderful old stories! The ones with the ladies on the front are written by Mary J. Holmes. The Graustark series is by George Barr McCutcheon. You can't find these anywhere except in estate sales or maybe on ebay. Oh, and one of those is an "Anne of Avonlea" book (Anne of Green Gables), another of my favorites! Thank you for visiting today!
DeleteI am so thrilled that you joined in!! "Big Grin" I absolutely love that you walk around camera in hand so to speak and I am in love with the desk with the old books!! Its wonderful. Your home looks already for tea parties :)
ReplyDeleteYour new garden there by the pond is perfect for a "secret garden" style set up. Those trees over hanging kind of make it special and cozy.
Thanks so much for joining in :) Toni would be thrilled too.
Thank YOU, Ann, for hosting us, and carrying on Toni's tradition. I am sure she is beaming from heaven. I will try to keep up with you each week as I can. Sometimes I just get lost in my own little world and forget! It is currently 31 degrees here this morning...and I need to put out some more bird seed in the feeders, but for this moment I am staying right here with my cup of tea and enjoying reading from within the cozy confines of my "room with a view". Have a blessed day!!
DeleteI love seeing your photos of God's handiwork!! It is a great hobby and we get to enjoy it too! Good seeing your Tuesday 4!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri. This was fun. I will try to join in more often if I can remember on time! Have a blessed and beautiful day, albeit, a bit of a chilly one! 31 here this morning!
DeleteI like taking pictures of nature also. God does such beautiful things.
ReplyDeleteI love your book collection! I have still not read Where The Crawdad's Sing. I have a friend that said I could borrow it though, I just haven't ran into her yet. I am very excited to read it. I also love to read. Loved your answers! Have a nice week.

Thank you, Lori, for visiting here with me. Do you have a local library? That is where I got the Crawdad book to read. They had a lot of copies of it since it seems to be one that many book clubs are reading right now. It was quite good. I enjoy going to the library where I can read so many books for free!! :) Have a blessed day!
DeleteThose old books are enchanting! I understand why we've all gone digital -- it helps preserve things in better condition, reduces clutter, etc. -- but I think we may have also lost something. There's so much romance in those bound volumes you posted!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning...wow, I see you wrote at 4:39 am! Bless your heart!! You must be up and out the door by now, and I am just getting my first cup of tea! As far as books go, I am not a digital reader. I love to sit down in my comfy chair with a real book in my hands. I love the feel and smell of it. (Although some of those old books of mine don't really smell all that good anymore...and the pages are quite brittle...but I can't bear to get rid of them.) And yes, these old books that I have can't be found anymore in any library or online. Most of mine came from estate sales over the years or from my parents' library. The stories are good enough that I enjoy reading them over again usually about every 3 or 4 years so that I don't totally remember the plot and can enjoy it. Although, now that I am getting "older", I could probably read them again every other week and not remember what it was about! LOL. Thank you for visiting here today. Have a blessed day!

ReplyDeleteYour smile speaks volumes! :) I don't know how to put an emoji on the comments page. How do you do that?
DeleteBeautiful photo. You definitely have hobbies! So the water is at your new place? Enjoyed reading your answers and looking at your photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you Debby. Yes, the pond is at our new home. We have named it "Still Waters Pond", as we sit beside the still waters. (Psalm 23) That has opened up new opportunities for photography of the water birds each in their season as they migrate to and fro. Thank you for visiting with me today. I look forward to getting better acquainted in the future!
