A PERFECT HEART
Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

Friday Foto Friends
Hello and Happy Friday Foto Friends!
I woke up this morning and bemoaned the fact that I did not have any new pictures to share with you today. It was still dark, and I figured I'd just have to go around the house and look for something to take some pictures of, but then I got distracted with other usual morning routines and pretty soon the sun was coming up and so I went outside to put out the flag, and this is what I saw:
As I watched the sun attempting to break through the billowy, turbulent yet majestic clouds, this song came to mind. If you wish, you can listen to it while you scroll through the rest of the pictures that I took both in the eastern skies as well as over Still Waters Pond...
A PERFECT HEART
Lyrics Words and Music by Reba Rambo and Dony McGuire Arranged by Tom Fettke
"Morning sun, light of creation;
Grassy fields, a velvet floor;
Silver clouds, a shimmering curtain, He’s designed a perfect world.
I’m amazed at His talents,
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me bless His holy name."
I hope you enjoyed that song and the pictures of the morning skies. By noon those clouds turned into a beautiful rainstorm. I took a video of the rain pounding on the tin roof of our porch and shared it on Facebook. It's too long to share here, so if you want to see it, go to my Facebook page for today. But this is how it looked...along with quite a bit of thunder to accompany it. It was delightful. We needed the rain!! I hope it cooled things down a bit. Our mornings have been lovely, but the afternoons have still be quite steamy and hot.
But Fall is making her way into our region a little at a time...as well as making her way into our home a little at a time....I picked up this new fall garden flag this morning at our Ollie's store. I am waiting for the rain to go away before I attempt to put it outside:
Although we still haven't been able to bring in all the fall decor tubs from the shed, I've been bringing little things out here and there to change things over from summer to fall inside the house:
I baked a banana nut bread the other day with some overripe bananas, and decided these "Grateful" dessert plates would be appropriate to start using for breakfast and/or snacks.
It was time to change the summer teapot and cups for something with more of an Autumn flare as well.
I did manage to find the Fall wreath for the front door:
(I think it might be upside down...what do you think?)
And that's as far as I've gotten!
Well friends, it's now Friday afternoon and it's time to start thinking about what we are doing for supper. It will either be leftovers or pizza. Hubby kind of wants pizza. I kind of want to use up the leftovers. Maybe we'll compromise and do both. LOL.
What do you usually do for supper on Friday nights? Is it a casual supper kind of night...or do you go out to eat...or do you go all out and fix a big meal? Since it's just the two of us, we tend to do whatever seems simplest and be done with it.
And so with that, I will say have a pleasant and wonderful evening, no matter what you do!
Happy Friday!

We've been having the same debate here for supper too. Time will tell. Loved that song and your pictures are beautiful! Love the new flag. Hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI think Friday nights are always a quandary. When I was still working we often went out to eat at a little family restaurant near where we lived. It was my reward for making it through another week of work. LOL. But now that I'm retired, we can go out any time so Friday night isn't as special as before. We tend to keep it simple. Glad you popped in for a visit. have a blessed weekend.
DeleteDo you really want to know what we usually do for supper on Friday night? Popcorn! We have "Gary's World-Famous Popcorn", which he prepares himself in a pot that's nearly as old as we are, on a burner on the stove. Perfect every time! I watch him and just marvel at his success week after week. That's what we have for supper on Friday nights (keeping in mind that we eat a substantial amount of food for lunch, the big meal of our days).
ReplyDeleteLOVED the music today that you shared and reading the lyrics with the pictures as the music played. Have loved that song for many years. Thanks for such a beautiful presentation of it!
Popcorn for supper??? Really??? Wow! When do we get an invitation? LOL. That sounds like a great supper for Friday night. Do you watch a movie while you eat it? I mean, what's a good bowl full of popcorn without a movie? Or vice versa? LOL. That really sounds like fun to me. Glad you enjoyed the music too. It's been a while since I'd heard that song and it just came to me when I was looking at the sun trying to burst through the clouds this morning. I love it when God blesses us with His beauty all around us!! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteHi Pamela, I enjoyed your pictures. I like that new fall garden flag. I have not been able to decorate for fall yet because of my rib. I think I will look for my flags. I for a fall plate and dish towel for my birthday. I love fall and though we don't get real fall weather here, I can have it in my house with my decor. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI hope your rib is getting better. I know how miserable it is to have anything hurting when you want to be doing things. Just don't push things...this may be your season to just relax and enjoy what's all around you without you having to work so hard! Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
DeletePam: I love the hymn. Lately, we have been very informal with what we do for supper any night. I have half a spaghetti squash in the fridge. Jim is on this "Baloney and cheese sandwich" kick. I will have the spaghetti squash, I also loved the way you presented the lyrics with your pictures. Plans for supper got changed, We are having Manwich. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteOh, your Jim and my John would get along just fine. John normally eats a baloney and cheese sandwich for lunch almost every day. That's his favorite!!! I try to eat a salad for lunch. We both eat some kind of fruit like an apple or grapes or whatever is in season, with our lunch. Oh, Manwich? I actually have never made "Manwich", but I do make sloppy joes from my mother's recipe every so often. That used to be a favorite either Saturday or Sunday night dinner with our kids. Haven't had them in a while. Might have to remember that one again soon. Hope you have a blessed and wonderful weekend.
DeleteWonderful photos. All this rain has been so nice, hasn't it!? Keeps the temps lower than normal and makes the plants very happy. *lol*
ReplyDeleteTonight we had thick cut Rib Eyes purchased from a local meat merchant (all local meat, no vax's), and Broccoli Florets pan fried in butter, bacon grease and spices. OH MY it's so good! We've been panfrying what few veg's we eat. They have so much flavor this way. I'll never boil veg's again. Ruins 'em.
Now I'm streaming a show on Discovery+ about Cleopatra. I do so love history.
Blessings. xx
Oh, we actually had ribeyes last night, as they were on sale at the grocery store. I bet yours were a lot better than ours. We were VERY disappointed as they were not very tender. We've just about had to give up on any kind of beef except ground beef. Comes with getting old, I guess. Teeth must be getting dull. LOL. I've never tried pan frying broccoli. I usually steam it. I do pan fry yellow squash/zucchini, with onions, in butter. I may have to try the broccoli recipe. Sounds good. Hope you have a lovely weekend. And yes, our temps were lower tonight...it was so pleasant after the rain!!! Yay! Fall is creeping up on us!!!
DeleteThe song was perfect with the pictures. I played and looked. Just perfect and He is perfect. I will slowly add fall. I am just not one to rush too much on that sort of thing anymore. As for supper, we have been eating at a hamburger place that is open only at lunch except for Friday. A local place that makes bologna sandwiches among other. Their hamburger is fabulous and I usually eat the whole thing. Homemade fries too.
ReplyDeleteI love small restaurants like that. We have a couple here in town that usually are only open until 2 or 3 pm each day, but one is now open on Friday nights. We haven't gone too often at night, but it's nice to know it's available...and they have good hamburgers too. I don't think they have bologna sandwiches, but hubby has that most every day for lunch anyway. LOL. That's what he wants! So whatever makes him happy. LOL. Have a blessed weekend. I hope you can relax a little!!
DeleteBeautiful song, Pam! ... and now you make me want to start pulling out our Fall decorations. (hmmmm) I promised myself I'd wait until October; we'll see.
ReplyDeleteSupper? Gosh, we're so stuffed from having a big lunch with my son and DIL; when we got home we both just fell asleep in a carb coma.
Like Barbara, our 'big' meal of the day happens around late morning, then each of us does what they want. Last night, for instance, I enjoyed a cup of yogurt and pistachio nuts.
BTW, how is your shoulder?
Thank you for visiting and also asking about my shoulder. So far I am not noticing much difference. They said it can take up to 13 weeks. Not sure why that is the magic number, but we shall see. I would have liked instant results. LOL. We usually have either a salad or a sandwich for lunch. (salad me...sandwich him). But hubby likes a "real meal" for supper somewhere between 4-5 p.m. However on the weekends we are a little less "formal" about it. I try to cook something good early in the week that we can use for leftovers for a couple of days at least, so I don't have to cook so much. I do love a dish of yogurt with fresh fruit and granola for a snack or sometimes for breakfast. Yum. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
DeleteWe were doing pizza there for awhile but that is now for Sat nights. Like I have no idea what I will cook tonight. I better start looking - its 4:17 pm here.
ReplyDeleteSometimes we do pizza night with the kids. They pick it up and bring it over. That's always more fun. But I do burn out on it if we do it too often. We ended up eating the leftover spaghetti tonight. It was a few days old, but still good. Although my tummy is burning now....I had to take mylanta. LOL. Pizza would have done the same thing. Oh well...at least I'm full. Have a blessed weekend.
DeleteBeautiful photos, song lyrics and voice. I really enjoyed it all. Fridays around here we fend for ourselves, lol. I am often out late and DH is often at work. This is when I take my time and usually eat something while I'm out and about.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Penny. I am so glad you visited and enjoyed the music/pictures. It's good to have a flex night for meals when schedules are busy. I enjoyed your pictures on facebook you posted yesterday. So lovely!! I hope you are doing well. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
DeleteOne day we will look up in the sky and see Jesus.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a day, glorious day that will be!!! I am always watching!!!
DeleteThanks for your comment on my post. There is a link at the bottom about St. Basil and the post before is about him too.
DeleteI have to admit, I eat my main food during the day...light in the evenings. BP demands that. I also have to admit, I am okay about the pictures. I usually "read" blogs and skip the pictures. Oh, sorry...I am probably in the minority. It is just that your writing is so "from the heart"...
ReplyDeleteWe sometimes eat a bigger lunch, and when we do, we eat light at supper. It's flexible according to schedules, but we are normally pretty routine about times to eat, etc. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures this time. I'm afraid I do more pictures than writing most of the time...but the pictures inspire the writing. God gives me the pictures and then supplies the words...that's how it works for me most of the time. I am so thankful for His guiding Light. I hope you have a lovely weekend. Thank you for visiting!
DeleteLots of bloggers are decorating for fall. I'm not feeling it yet but your photos are a little motivating! Your sunrise sky photos are lovely and you chose a perfect hymn to go with them!! Happy weekend!! xo
ReplyDeleteGood Morning! I hope you are feeling better (eye) each day! I wouldn't be pushing to do anything extra until you really want to! Fall is a long season here...Sept-Oct-Nov., so you have plenty of time! I don't like to put everything out yet either...October I get more stuff out that goes along with the Halloween season (although I don't specifically decorate for Halloween, except a Scarecrow and some pumpkins, etc.), and then in November I add the Pilgrims and Turkeys. I just enjoy the fall colors in the house to give it a warm and homey fall feeling, even though it may not look like fall outside! It just gives everything a golden glow that feels good! Have a blessed weekend.
DeleteI absolutely loved your sunrise photos, Pamela. What a lovely and inspiring show courtesy of our amazing God!
ReplyDeleteWe had tacos on Friday this week. Danny makes the best! Sometimes, our meals are leftovers; pizza that we order is always as a treat so that Danny doesn't have to cook. I love giving him that break when I can.
Enjoy your weekend!
MMM, tacos! I love homemade tacos! I bet they were delish! Does he use ground beef or shredded roast beef? We had a friend make them for us years ago, using shredded beef, and it was amazing. I've never done that as it seems like a LOT of trouble, but they sure were good. But ground beef tacos are wonderful too and what we usually have. So nice that Danny enjoys cooking so much! That is a blessing for sure!!! I hope you have a lovely weekend too!
DeleteThose are beautiful photos of the sky. Thanks for sharing them with me. Hope you are having a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe older we get the less we cook. Last night we had the choice of eating out or finishing the leftovers. Chuck chose Arby's (he picked up and brought it home) so tonight... we'll have the leftovers. :) Love all your fall decor. I'm ready for fall: cooler nights, shorter days.
ReplyDeleteNice cloudy ⛅️ sky. My banana pumpkin bread is in the oven. It smells delicious! I planted my pansies this morning. Phil was able to make lunch since I outside finishing up with my plants. Off the recliner I go and get food prepared for dinner. Breads done ✔️ 🙌. Happy weekend~Becky 😊
ReplyDeleteOh Friday is a tough day to get dinner out somewhere so when my sweet husband has a day off during the week we often have lunch somewhere. Its a crazy night since everyone wants to rush to their favorite hangouts. I ate cereal tonight and Avery made a burrito. The kids were on their own as Noelle joined Rebekah at the Pirate Fest the city hosts. Zach returned from driving the U-haul for his mom to Michigan so now that he is home, he has a head cold, common occurrence after traveling. Nick is under the weather. I pray he still has a job but he was really sick so I hope they understand...prayer for him is welcome too. Hope your weekend is wonderful
