I forgot to get pictures of Scott grilling the steaks, but a picture of the results is even better...
(this one is mine...)Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

Wednesday Treasures~Special Gifts and Blessings
Do you ever get up in time to go watch the sunrise? While our sunrise is still a little later in the morning, (around 7:25 a.m.), we have a great opportunity to look outside the door and watch what God is doing to usher in the morning light.
But you need to pay attention, because it changes almost every couple of minutes...
And if you dilly-dally, you will miss it altogether. This may not have been the most outstanding sunrise ever, but it still has its own kind of beauty...look at the clouds and the way the sun eventually displaces the clouds...or not...depending upon whether or not it is going to be a cloudy day or sunny. Anyway, This was our sunrise this morning. I enjoyed it. I hope you did too.
Remember a couple of weeks ago when our kids got us a "new to us" BBQ grill?
Well, we promised the "kids" some good rib-eye steaks as soon as the price of steaks came back down enough for us to buy enough for the whole family. Thankfully the price did come down, and we were able to add to the ones we already had in the freezer so we had enough for everyone...
So here's "The Kids" having their steak dinner thanks for a wonderful gift.
We all agreed the new grill did a great job...and so did the grill cook!!
When the kids arrived for their steak dinner, they came bearing gifts: (again!...they remind me a lot of God, you just can't outgive Him!)
Not only did they bring me four more pots of fall mums, but they also brought this beautiful teal water pitcher. It was something that they had in their store, "Dixie Cottage", and I know I had admired it and told them one time that if they didn't sell it I would just love it. Well, guess what! They said this was my belated birthday present! What they didn't know was that it was also a "Hall" pitcher, made by " Hall Superior Quality Kitchenware", Made in the USA.
And that I have collected Hall teapots and other items for a number of years. Mostly they have been gifts or I have "inherited" them from family members. Here are a few pictures of my current collection.
With the exception of the one small burgundy colored teapot that has this marking:
I originally told you about this particular teapot a few years ago HERE.
I just re-read what I wrote in that post in 2017, and updated in 2018...and I realized that I still haven't followed through with the ideas expressed in that original post. Jeepers...why do I keep coming back to this every few years? Maybe God is still trying to tell me something?
Now this has me thinking. That's a dangerous thing. LOL.
This morning I printed this photograph that I took and sent it to our niece in a "get well card"
Thank you all for your continued prayers for Shannon. She is home, but is in a lot of pain and it is going to be very challenging for her as she heals over these next few weeks. Your continued prayers are very welcome.
I hope the picture will be a comfort and inspiration to her, but now I think it is a message to me as well.
Here we go again.
But first things first.
I have to get past the surgery on October 25th before I can even think about anything else.
Okay...
That's it for today folks.
Have a blessed and wonderful Wednesday!

That's a beautiful sunrise, I think. Love all the swirls in the clouds in the first picture. Beautiful mums and those steaks, yummy!! I have a teapot very similar to the one in the last picture. It belonged to my paternal grandmother, if I remember correctly.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy. Yes, I think the clouds were the real picture this morning. I love to see the faces and things in the clouds. Never the same way twice. Oh, how neat that you have a similar teapot. You should check it out and see what kind it is. Would love to see a picture of it. You can wait until you are retired to look it up...you'll have more time then. Have a blessed rest of your week.
DeleteSuch a beautiful sunrise. Usually, the sun is coming up when I am heading into work or parking the car. I just love your collections and keeping Shannon and you in prayer, sweet friend. smiles
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. Oh, how nice to be able to drive to work in the sunrise! I used to do that back in the day...and then come home in the sunset! (in the winter time). Thank you for the prayers. That means a lot. Have a good rest of your week.
DeleteLove the teapots!
ReplyDeleteI will be praying for you on the 25th. You are on my calendar.
Thank you, Sandi!! You are so kind. (((hugs)))
DeleteI am glad Shannon is home and starting to heal. Prayers continue for her complete healing! I enjoyed your photos! The steaks look delicious and your collection is beautiful! How nice the the kids brought you a new pitcher. Beautiful! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri. The prayers are greatly appreciated. It's going to be a long haul for her I think. My kids are so sweet and thoughtful. And yes, the steaks were delicious. We don't get them very often, so it was a "rare" treat. LOL.
DeleteI have never heard of Hall pottery. How could that be? My maiden name is Hall. I do love that turquoise color. The steaks look delicious but family around the table can be anything:) Love the sunrise pics.
ReplyDeleteHang in there - the 25th will be here soon and I will continue to lift you up and your niece in prayer.
Thank you so much Sandy! How interesting that your maiden name is Hall! Now you need some Hall pottery!! LOL. And yes, I agree with you about the steak/family around the table with peanut butter could be just as wonderful!! We are blessed to have them nearby. Thank you for the prayers. They are much appreciated. Have a blessed rest of your week.
Deleteprayers for your up-coming surgery! So glad about sharon, those steaks look yummyliscious! I found a very nice RV that I am going to be moving onto a friends property in OK where I belong. It will be delivered Sat. My goal is being out of here by 1031. They are only going to charge me electric. So my living expenses will be around 300 a month total...electric insurance storage and cell phone I am so excited GOD ANSWERED MY PRAYERS. If you ever would like to talk I would love it ginabean32@gmail.com (googlechat works great)
ReplyDeleteThank you Gina. I am so happy for you to have found a nice RV for your home. I pray that will all work out perfectly for you and that you will be very happy and secure there with friends nearby. Wonderful answer to prayer. Glad you are starting to get better from your surgery as well. So happy for you. God bless you my friend.
DeleteSunrises are one of my enduring favorite things! Not one the same, -- but they all warm my heart and give me hope. Your 'kids' generosity is mighty sweet, and I love the teal pitcher. (Isn't it nice when someone listens and remembers?) Kudos to Grill master Scott -- those steaks are making my mouth water. And the salads look so fresh ... what kind of lettuce do you use?
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with you regarding sunrises and sunsets...never the same...always a beautiful display of God's Creation! And yes, my kids are so sweet and thoughtful. I give my DIL a lot of credit...she's the daughter God knew I needed! And yes, Scott has many years of experience working in restaurants as a grill cook, so he is the best when it comes to steaks and burgers, etc. Oh, the lettuce is just iceberg, with a lot of fresh spinach thrown in to make it more healthy. Have a happy day.
DeleteBeautiful gifts, I collect hall Autumn leaf, glad to see your children healed after covid, prayers will be added for Shannon and your surgery.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Betty. I appreciate your prayers for our family. God was so very gracious to us. And yes, thank you especially for the prayers for Shannon and her family. They are very much appreciated. For physical as well as emotional/spiritual healing. Thank you. I would love to see your Autumn leaf dishes! Please share sometime!
DeleteOh, I do wish we had a good view to the horizon, either east or west..me too many trees! Love your post.
ReplyDeleteOh, but Schotzy, I could never have too many trees! LOL. I love trees, and yes, I love seeing the horizon, but sometimes all this sunshine gets a bit too hot and we have to keep the blinds closed all day until evening...so more trees would always be a blessing...as long as I could still see the sunset and sunrise, of course. I like to have my cake and eat it too! Ha Ha. Have a blessed day.
DeletePam: I understand about not being able to think about anything except your surgery. I spent two weeks in April dealing with medical things. The second week, we had appointments every morning and every afternoon. I love your new pitcher and your tea pots. Prayers going up for you and for Shannon. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cecelia. Yes, right now I am dealing with the fact that the issues with the nerve pain in my arm are getting steadily worse, and although I am not in a LOT of pain, it reminds me every time I move the wrong direction. Plus the epidural I had over 2 months ago has begun to wear off, so that is becoming more apparent too. So I am going to have to pace myself on what I can and can't do, especially here on the computer. I can't stay at it for very long. Hopefully the surgery will correct all of that, and once I recover fully I will be back up and running again like new! Thank you for the prayers for Shannon. She truly needs them, as does her family. This is very challenging for all of them...keeping a very active young lady content to stay at home in a wheelchair when she is used to being free to do as she pleases...literally. So please do keep them all in your prayers. I know God is working and He knows what He's doing.
DeleteThose steaks look so tasty. The fall Mums are always a treat, but this year because of our severe drought, I won’t be getting any. I don’t want to waste water on plants that are purely decorative.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ruth. Yes, the steaks were wonderful! It's a "rare treat" for us! And yes, the mums are beautiful, but they do take some water to keep them going in this still very hot autumn. Although we can plant them in the ground here and they will come back next year if I take care of them. I just need to get someone to dig some holes for me to plant them! Have a blessed day. I pray your drought will be broken soon.
DeleteThose steaks look wonderfulYou made me hungry! I'd go fix myself a snack but I've already brushed my teeth for the night, so I'll just have to chew my tongue! Ha-ha!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha!!I hope you didn't chew TOO hard on your tongue! LOL. Maybe you just need to go get yourself a steak...but then, I think I heard you say you gave your grill to the kids...so maybe next time you visit them they can fix YOU a steak!! That would be only right!! Have a blessed week my dear friend.
DeleteP.S. I'm glad Shannon is home now. Will continue to keep her in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Barbara. Yes, please do keep praying. This is going to be very hard on all the family as she must stay confined for so many weeks while healing. She is used to being free to come and go as she pleases, and this will be very difficult, but I pray that God will use this time to reach into her heart and help her see what is of real value in her life. This is the biggest healing she is needing right now. I know her body will mend. She is young and healthy and strong...but the heart is the place that has the greatest need of the "Master's Touch". Thank you for your prayers for her. That means a lot.
DeleteI like that you respond to comments…sweet…giving others validation…
ReplyDeleteThank you, Brenda. I try to keep up, but sometimes I just can't. I try to get around and comment on others' blogs too, and that takes a lot of time, so sometimes I just have to step back and do the best I can but not wear myself out in the process. I love this little "family" we have here in blogland, and I look forward to hearing from each and every one. I was wondering if you have a blog? I haven't been able to find it if you do. I would love to get better acquainted with you as well. I hope you have a blessed and beautiful day.
DeleteWhat a beautiful collection of Hall pottery! My mother-in-law had that blue one with the gold dots. I don't know who got it. I was given a blue one shaped like a genie lamp...I have no idea whatever became of it. It disappeared in one of the several moves we made before we finally landed here. It was so nice of your "kids" to gift you another piece, even though the Hall part was an accident. Dinner looks yummy! There is nothing that beats a good steak done to perfection on the grill. Blessings on the rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, if all goes as planned I will be joining my church on the 17th.
Oh, I am so happy for you to have finally found a real church "home". I pray you will always be blessed there, and be a blessing as well to those around you, as I know you will be. May God find a place for your "gifts" that will benefit others in the Body of Christ. Even tho we are no longer members of the C&MA, we spent the majority of our lives serving in that denomination, and I will always feel like it is "home" to me. There just aren't any in this area and we love the little church we belong to now. We sing the old hymns and praise and worship like we did back in the "olden days", and that gives us "old folks" a happy spirit. Oh, I am sorry you lost your blue genie lamp teapot. Who knows? It may "reappear like magic" one of these days! Like my blue bird pillow cases that disappeared in our last move, and my son finally found them in a black trash bag in the back of his closet under a bunch of other stuff. It only took about 2 years...LOL. Have a blessed week, and I'll be thinking of you as you join your church.
DeletePraying for you, Pamela, and praying for Shannon! What a beautiful and timely gift the "kids" gave you. Enjoy the physical aspect of it as well as the hearts that gave it out of love.
ReplyDeleteBlessings1
Thank you, Martha. Yes, I am so thankful for our kids. God has truly blessed us with them...they are the GIFT themselves. All the other is just over-abundance of blessings. God is good. Amen!
DeleteI am always up before dawn, but the sun hides behind the mountains and we are in the shadow for a long time each morning! That is God's blessing for us desert folk, to have some respite from the rays. I always open my window, look outside, and give a big SMILE no matter how I am feeling! A smile of thanks! I can imagine your smile when you saw that teal Hall pitcher! Wow! What sweet and generous kids you have! The apples don't fall far from the tree!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am sure shade and shadow are a blessing for you, and yes, I would thank God for that as well if I lived there. Actually, here in the bright sunshine state, I am also thankful for shade and shadows and some cloudy days. We have to close our blinds most of the day because of the bright sun, and I hate to hide the view, but the sunshine can just be too bright and hot. But early mornings and evenings are best. There's always something to enjoy when we look for it! So yes, Praise God for another day of life! Yes, I was so surprised they thought to give that to me...I was totally taken off guard! They are such good kids. We are very very blessed and thankful. Thank you for your sweet words. Hope you are having a wonderful day...although it is still early and you probably aren't even awake yet!!
DeleteI love to get up early and walk in the forest. Your sunrise is beautful. Wow what a nice teal water pitcher!
ReplyDeleteOh, Aritha, I do love early morning walks in the woods too. I will post a few pictures from our walks in the woods probably tomorrow. Thank you for visiting. I always love to hear from you, and I need to come and visit you at your blog too and get caught up!! Hope you are doing well. Blessings to you, my friend across the sea!
DeleteWow, I love. your teapot collection! Love the vintage colors! Laser treatment went well and not painful at all. Thankfully! God bless!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear the treatment went well for you! That is good news. And thank you for liking these teapots. They are fun to collect, and I do use them from time to time. I have other teapots too that aren't Hall. Mostly they've been gifts through the years, or a good deal at a flea market or yard sale I couldn't resist. LOL. Just wish I could have more tea parties to justify having them all! Have a blessed day!
