Psalm 25
1. "To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
2. O my God, I trust in You;
Let me not be ashamed;
Let not my enemies triumph over me.
3. Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed;
Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.
4. Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
5. Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
for You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day."
Amen.
These were the words of the Psalm from our morning devotions, and again they seem to be right on target for all we are going through during these days of unrest and chaos in our land.

The pictures are from our walk in the rain, except for the pictures of the Buzzard, who was sitting atop our tall dead pine tree in our yard early this morning when I stood outside on the deck to see how the rain was helping the water to refill our "Still Waters Pond".
Believe it or not, this is much better than it was a week or two ago! Little by little it is getting better with each day of rain! We're getting quite a bit today it seems! That's okay with us. Praise God!
Back to our walk in the rain this morning, I mentioned
HERE a week or so ago about someone cutting up trees and leaving them in the woods where we walk. Well, they are still at it, but apparently they are cutting down trees right there in the woods and leaving them like this. I am not sure why. They are not trees that were in anyone's way or in danger of falling on anyone that I can tell. These are vacant wooded lots that no one seems to care about, but someone has been selectively cutting down a tree here and there...maybe they plan to come back and cut them up for firewood later after they dry out. I don't know, but I thought these pieces of wood were very interesting with the rain bringing out their grain and texture. Made for some interesting designs that I enjoyed seeing. I also happen to love the smell of fresh cut wood, and these were still fresh enough to be very fragrant.
For some reason I am drawn to this place, even as the rain was coming down and we needed to get back to the car before we got totally drenched. But I couldn't resist another look at this cool, peaceful sanctuary. Perhaps we just need that right now in our lives and hearts...a place to retreat from the world and find some peace and quiet...
Lots of fresh sawdust if you want to come gather it up.
I love the designs on these cut logs.
This one looks like the eye of the tree is looking at me, maybe he's weeping because he's been cut down and left to die there alone in the woods.
Maybe it's weeping for the state of our country right now.
Well, maybe that's a bit too much for us to think about, but I love this picture. Actually reminds me of a horse's eye. I think I like that thought better. They say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
Back to our Psalm of the day:
Psalm 25:8-11, 20-22
"8. Good and upright is the Lord;
Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
9. The humble He guides in justice,
and the humble He teaches His way.
10. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth,
to such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.
11. For Your name's sake, O Lord,
Pardon my iniquity, for it is great."
20. "Keep my soul, and deliver me;
Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You.
21. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me,
For I wait for You."
Verse 22 says:
"Redeem Israel, O God, Out of all their troubles!"
I would like to add to that prayer:
"Redeem America, O God, Out of all OUR troubles."
Amen.
Hmm...on the tree cutting. Does anyone own that land? Just wondering. What a cute photo of you and your husband, Pamela.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your peaceful words (and yep, the news is off).
Have a beautiful day friend.
The area where we take our walks is a planned development of lots, and they all belong to different individuals, but they have sat this way for many years and there are only a couple of houses in this neighborhood. The rest is all woods, and it makes for a lovely, quiet place to walk away from the hustle bustle of the town. Whoever is cutting those trees probably lives in one of those houses in the area and they will probably come back later and cut them into firewood. That's the only thing I can figure. The trees that they have cut were dead, and it is only one tree here and there...but enough to make me curious. (That doesn't take much for me. I love a mystery). To explain, a lot of the land here was sold years ago at a premium price to people from all over the country and world...most likely with the promise that this area would develop and their lots would be valuable someday. Well, the opposite has happened and the lots are not currently worth what these people paid for them so they just sit there vacant. The won't sell them because they can't get what they want for them. Maybe someday this town will grow, but frankly I hope it doesn't in my life time. I like it just fine the way it is.
Delete"... won't sell them because they can't get what they want for them."
Delete😊 that makes it a very peaceful place, I bet!
Yes, it does! Just us and the birds and the squirrels and an occasional deer or two. We are glad we discovered this best kept secret place to walk. Now I hope no one else will find it! LOL.
DeletePam, I always love the photos you choose to illustrate whatever verse you share each day. Just lovely, always. xoxox
ReplyDeleteThank you Terri. Even though we got kind of wet this morning, it was worth it to enjoy the beauty of the woods. It was fun.
DeleteI find the pattern of the cut ends of the logs interesting. We have had some rain up here but not like they predicted, not yet anyway. The humidity is very high for the temperature (72*) I have get out tomorrow and pick up a prescription and do some shopping at CVS. Peace and blessings.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you can see the interest in the patterns on the wood. That's what I saw too. I hope your humidity turns into rain if you need it. We needed it and we are very glad to get it. I hope you can get out and do your shopping tomorrow without getting wet. We have stayed in the rest of the day since our romp in the rain this morning. I love a rainy day when I don't have to go anywhere!
DeleteThe log patterns are gorgeous, Pamela, I agree. We all need to take a deep breath and enjoy the calm and peace we can find in God's creation. And yes, may God redeem this country and quickly!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Yes, praying in agreement with you. And yes, I believe we all need a lot more of God's beauty around us to help soothe our frazzled nerves. Just staying away from the news today as much as possible. I think we've all had enough. Praying is the only answer.
DeleteWe have a little over 4 acres with many big oak trees-I love walking out there and listening to the songbirds. So peaceful! Continuing to pray for our country and our government-we've been keeping our news time to a minimum.
ReplyDeleteYes, having a place to walk among the trees and the birds is so satisfying and restorative. I look forward to our walks each day. It is some time away from the news and the other duties calling out to me. Helps keep me sane! Thank you for your visit!
DeleteI enjoyed the verses you have shared and the lovely photos from your walk. I read your response to Linda's comment. I am thankful you two have a peaceful place to walk. The logs make for very interesting pictures!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mildred. It seemed even more peaceful today walking in the rain. The sounds were muted to just the sounds of the rain in the trees, and I found it so relaxing. Yes, I thought the logs were certainly picture worthy today. I'm glad you enjoyed them too.
DeleteRedeem America, Lord...amen.
ReplyDeleteThis was a refreshing post, Pamela. Thanks for sharing it. I am drawn to the whispering of nature too. The tree designs are beautiful. Do they occur naturally? One looks like a dragonfly. I counted the rings on the first one...28? The double one is intriguing! Was it two trees that grew together? Maybe that is prophetic.
Yes, praying for America with almost every breath these days. Thank you for visiting here today. The tree designs do occur naturally, but the saw blades help to 'set them free" from their hiding places. I like the double one...I see a baby in utero, like in an ultrasound. I think it may have been where two branches were joined to the trunk. To me it was the heartbeat of the tree. I hear and see God's messages everywhere these days. We just need to pay attention...He has much to say to us. God bless you for being you!
DeleteI smile as i see how you observe all the details in nature around you. That is so much Like what I would do. The patterns in those cut logs is amazing.I was thinking that God even creates the inside of trees to have beauty, and most of the time no one sees it.
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes it takes the cutting of the saw blade to set the real beauty of the tree free from its hiding place. That is why I just had to take these pictures today. I know, weird, but there was a sense of peace there in that wooded place, and I guess I really needed that to calm my spirit today. I am thankful to the Lord for the ways He ministers to us. He's always there!!!
DeleteYou've put such appropriate words to the pictures, Pam (as you are so gifted to do). I think it's interesting that the Vulture knew to perch himself atop a dead tree. He's just looking for the dark side of nature, isn't he?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and words to go along with them, Pam. The Scriptures state that the whole of creation grieves, groans--so a "crying tree" is certainly possible.
ReplyDeleteLove and blessings!
