Watching For God's Presence In Our Midst

What a surprise to see this male Wood Duck  paddling around right in front of our house yesterday!
Normally the Wood Duck couple stays on the opposite side of the pond, pretty much out of my good viewing distance.  But yesterday this fellow stayed up close, nibbling on the fresh grasses and vegetation around the edge of the pond all by himself for a long time.

The fact that there was no sign of his mate nearby makes me wonder if they are nesting at this time.
Isn't he the most beautiful duck you've ever seen?  I know I think he's absolutely gorgeous!

I had to watch him from a distance, actually from inside the house, because I knew if I dared to open that door he would fly away.

So I patiently stood by the glass door and watched and enjoyed this special treat!

I love how God sends us special little gifts to bless our day, don't you?

The key is, we have to be watching and aware of the gift when it happens.
Because if we don't pay attention to the special "Presence" of God in our lives, that moment may slip away from us and we will miss out on the beauty and the glory of what He was wanting to share with us in that moment.

Here are a few Bible verses that lead us into the Presence of the Lord:

"You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."
Psalm 16:11

"And He said, My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."
Exodus 33:14

"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."
Jeremiah 29:13

"Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God."
Matthew 5:8

"When You said, 'Seek My face,',
my heart said to You, 'Your face, Lord, I will seek."
Psalm 27:8

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,
I will come in to him and dine with him,
and he with Me."
Revelation 3:20

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
Psalm 23:6

  4. That Wood duck is stunning, Pamela! I'm amazed at what great photos you took of him while standing behind glass. Good for you! And yes, God has daily miracles to show us, but we must be present and expectant in the moment. May your day be filled with God's grace!

    1. Thank you, Martha. Yes...God always has something wonderful out there, or near by...just for our benefit and joy. We do need to pay attention and be expectant to see/hear His Presence. Sometimes it is in the "still small voice"... Be blessed my friend.

  6. The wood duck is truly magnificent. So thankful you were able to enjoy watching him and sharing the pics with us. At the home we shared with my mom, there was a creek down the hill from us. One afternoon, I glimpsed a fawn and her doe playing in the creek (taking their noses and throwing water at each other). It was the most beautiful sight and I felt like the Lord shared that with me. It was very shady at the creek, except that a ray of sun shone just on the deer!

  7. Pam: The wood duck is quite colorful. I have not seen any with so much color. You did well with your staying inside and watching through the door. I love your selected scriptures. Not much going on in my life. Had a very sleepless night. Didn't go to prayer group today. Peace and blessings.

  8. The wood duck is quite beautiful and would have made me stop to watch. I love the verse from Psalms 16:11. I needed that this morning. The last few days have been just plain hard, but I know I am walking through these days with many others or they have already walked through them. Thanks for the uplifting post.
