It's Friday, and this week we have had so much rain that we really haven't been out much, at least not out enough to see much that is interesting. However, last evening after the rain, as the sun was going down over Still Waters Pond, everything was golden for a little while.
The day had been mostly dark and gloomy and very stormy, but by evening the rains had stopped and the sun was sending out its last fleeting shining moments before darkness took over for the night.
And then this morning, when we arose from our beds and looked out over the pond, this is what we saw:
That glorious full moon, in its last reflective moments before slipping down behind the trees and giving way to the morning sun.
And now we have the morning sun rising in the eastern sky...
It is looking a bit overcast at best, as we have more rain on the way according to the forecast.
This kind of feels like a "Genesis" moment:
"Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good;
and God divided the light from the darkness.
God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.
So the evening and the morning were the first day."
Genesis 1:3-5
So, if this were the first day of the rest of your life, which it is, by the way... what would you do differently? Would you make any changes in how you live...what you do and say, what you eat...the places you go, the things you think about or dream about...
Something to think about. But then I read this in my little devotional book, "Choose Grace":
Ah! Good thoughts for this day...let us live fully in the present, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), trusting Him to guide us through each step of this day and beyond. If today were the only day I had left in this life, I would want to live it with joy and thanksgiving for this very moment, fully immersed in His grace, knowing that I am His beloved child. There could be nothing better than that...
Have a blessed and beautiful day today, my friends, whatever you do, wherever you are...be blessed.
Amen.
On another note, Please join me in prayer for those families and people who have been affected by the terrible building collapse in Miami. My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones, and for those who are still awaiting news of those who are still missing. Such a horrific tragedy.

These are such beautiful photographs. I can’t ever imagine getting tired of looking at Still Waters Pond. It’s so beautiful in all the different lights. Also, thank you for the reminder to enjoy today and each day that we are currently living. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy. That is exactly how I feel, even when there are times that the road noise on the other side of the trees is quite deafening from trucks and motorcycles and sirens...hard to believe there is such a thin line between our beautiful peaceful scene and the hard reality of life on a highway...We are thankful for our little haven of rest. Hope you also have a blessed weekend.
DeleteWonderful photos. Y'all live in a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteBlessings. xx
Thank you, Sparky. We are very grateful for what the Lord has given us.
DeletePam: Thank you for these beautiful photos. Yes, we should thank the LORD for each day that He gives us. My best friend and I are praying for the families and the first responders in Miami. That is such a tragedy. Peace and blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cecelia. Yes, every day is a gift from God. There, but for the grace of God, go us, in that horrific tragedy. May God be merciful to those who may still be waiting for rescue, and also to their families.
DeleteBeautiful photos Pamela! That high-rise collapse is so horrible and what a slow painstaking process the search and rescue is. I'm still afraid the rest of the building could come down, it has to be completely unstable at this point!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha. Yes, it is a horrible thing, and I agree, the rest could still come down. I do hope those people are all evacuated from that section. I am praying for the rescuers that they will be safe. Just a tragic reminder about the fragility of this life. Have a blessed weekend my friend.
DeleteWe are keeping the people in our prayers that are suffering from the disaster. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos of the pond and the scriptures! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Diane. Things like this really make us stop and count our blessings..."there but for the grace of God go I." I do hope you have a blessed and beautiful weekend as well. If you are getting as much rain as we are, I doubt you are able to do much hiking. But we needed the rain!
DeleteI enjoyed your pictures Pam! I just read Genesis 1 to my grands. John 1 and John 8:12. Then we Bible journaled afterwards. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteWonderful choices of Scriptures to share with your grandchildren. It is so important for them to know the truth of God's Creation and His Word, The Son of God. What a wonderful blessing to be a part of their growth in understanding God's Word. Enjoy your weekend as well!
DeleteTruly gorgeous photos, Pamela! Yes, I will join you in pray for all the victims in the Miami tragedy - it's simply horrendous, and something that should never have happened. Also, as I mention in my comment to you on my blog, I'm following you via Blogger, so I'll never miss an episode!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Thank you, Martha. I am glad we are able to keep up with each other this way. Our friendship has been really special. God bless you...and I pray your mother is settling into her new "home" for now.
DeleteThese are so lovely I can only imagine how you feel, seeing the moon over Still Water Pond in person! Living in the 'now' has always been a struggle, but after what we all experienced last year, it's becoming easier. Every day is a gift.
ReplyDeleteStill praying for those in Miami!
Thank you, Myra. The pictures can never do the moon justice. My cameras just don't know how to capture really good moon shots, but I think you got the idea. We are blessed to have this place to enjoy God's handiwork! And yes, every day IS a gift, not to be taken for granted, as the poor folks in that condo in Miami have learned so sadly this week. Continuing in prayer for them all.
DeleteYes, prayers for those folks in Miami. Horrible news. Pam, your photos are beautiful and you always choose the perfect scripture to go with the photos! Happy weekend, dear friend! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri. I am happy you popped in for a visit. I give God the credit for helping with the pictures and the scriptures...I was kind of at a loss this morning and then when I saw the moon...well, He put it all together! So thankful! I hope you had a good day. I know you had a lot going on.
DeleteI feel so bad for the people missing, their loved ones, and the pets. I ask, how could it just fall like that? Horrible, horrible. So sad. We have been praying the rosary for the victims and those trying to rescue them, the responders, the scent dogs, all.
ReplyDeleteYou have captured that lovely evening light so well. it has to be one of my favourite moments of the day.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos, they are beautiful. Enjoy your weekend.
