This White Egret flew in and landed right in front of this Canadian Goose. At first the goose honked and acted like he was upset for such a close landing,
And then the two geese just tucked their heads into their feathers and continued their naps...Never saw that happen before...
Talking about something I've never seen before:
From a distance it took me a minute to figure out that it was one cat, walking along the shore, with a very distinct reflection in the pond...If I'd been that cat and looked in the pond and saw that cat looking back at me, it would have scared at least one of my nine lives away...
If I'd known my picture was going to be taken, I would have at least picked out an apron that didn't clash with my top...or vice versa... What was I doing, you ask? Making ham salad with the remainder of our Easter Ham before it went bad. It was good. What did our old grandmothers say? "Waste not, want not." Good advice from this old grandma.
Not so unusual, but this is the Memorial Garden Don Juan Rose blooming. It was in the bright sun and looks a little strange, but it was and is beautiful. This is the rose bush I brought with us when we moved, that came from the Memorial Garden at our last house.
Oh, do you know what this is? These are paw-paws growing on the paw-paw bush over where we take our walks. I've never seen them turn brown before. At our other house they were always green, but these still seem to be okay. Must be a different variety...but still wild and growing in the woods. Click HERE for a picture of them from our previous home and woods.
And speaking of roses...This shadow lady is holding a bouquet of "knock out roses", and she appears to be either wearing one in her hair or in her teeth...Isn't she lovely? I kind of like her camouflaged pants too.
Talk about unusual sightings: My eyes look a bit droopy here, but I guess because I was looking down at the camera...this is me wearing a mask...which our lovely quilting ladies from our church made! I love the little swans and roses design on this one. Now I don't have an excuse to stay home. Thank you, Quilting Ladies!
Now for something more sensible...this is the Psalm we read this morning in our devotions:
4. The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, Than the mighty waves of the sea.
ReplyDeleteThat one is my favorite! I enjoy your posts so much! Love & hugs!
Thank you, Terri. Yes, I love that verse also! Our God is mightier than the mighty waves of the sea! And so much more...
DeleteLove watching the geese. Your apron is adorable. I was wearing one the other day too. I suppose being at home with no place to rush out has brought out even more the domestic side of me. I will say we are eating better with the going out to eat gone. I for one am enjoying that. I eat too much when we go out.
ReplyDeleteI also love that fabric on the mask. I have a basket made up for giving away to friends and neighbors.
Thank you, Sandy. I like to wear aprons...I tend to be a very sloppy cook and I need aprons to protect my clothes, although most of the time when I am not entertaining I am wearing old clothes that are already pretty well spotted or stained, so it doesn't matter...but I still like an apron. Yes, I have been doing more baking than usual since we are home all the time too. Not sure that is good for me, however...'cause then I eat too much here at home!! Can't win! Take care and God bless.
DeleteSo enjoyed your unusual and not to unusual photos, Pamela! The cat with its reflection in the pond is awesome, and the mask you are wearing is simply too cute. The verses from Psalm 93 buoyed my heart, reminding me that even in these times, God is large and in charge, so why worry?
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Exactly...why should we worry when we know that God is "large and in charge". There is no one any greater than our God!!! He has got us covered in every way. So sit back and relax and leave the driving to Him!
DeleteNothing unusual, Pamela...I always enjoy your posts, smiles. Have a beautiful day in warm, sunny Florida. Do you want to know, its 18* wind chill and snowing here this morning, yep on April 22.
ReplyDeleteI hope your snow is melting by now. I am sorry it is so cold there. We are rather warm here tonight, and expecting a storm later on. Praying it won't be severe. But God is with us and we will not fear!!! I like the saying that is going around, "Faith over Fear"....that is what we are living...
DeleteYour rose is so pretty, looks like it made the move just fine. I love the shadow lady, it made me smile. Always enjoy your nature photos and the reflection of the cat was great!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary. Yes, I am quite pleased and thankful that the rose bush is doing well. I still have it in a pot and I am a little afraid to plant it for fear it might not do as well in the ground. I don't want to ruin in. But, then again, it has made it this far, and I should trust God to keep it going...right? Hmm, now, where to plant it? Glad you enjoyed the pictures of the cat, etc. They made me chuckle.
DeleteLove all your pictures dear Pam! You must have had so much fun watching the geese and the egret interact! And I love your darling apron! It feels good to make up and use food that might otherwise go to waste! I enjoy doing the same thing! You look so cute with your apron on, I love it! Darling masks that your friends made you. I've made a lot of masks, and now I hear the local hospital and nursing home say they now have plenty and are passing them on to other places who don't have them. So thankful. Many blessings to you! May you have many opportunities to enjoy the beauty of the Lord around your world :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Marilyn, for your kind thoughts today (yesterday actually..I'm a little behind in responding) Thank you for making masks for the hospitals and nursing homes, etc. That is such a wonderful thing to do. I have not been able to do any sewing just yet for various reasons, so I was thankful to know our church ladies had made some for us to pick up at the church office. So many are doing so much to help in this time of crisis. So thankful for these blessings.
DeleteI really enjoyed your Wednesday wanderings. Seeing you in an apron brought back so many memories . I used to always wear an apron when working in the kitchen. It was what my Mom did, so i just followed her example. beautiful words in the Psalm.
ReplyDeleteAprons tend to bring out memories of days gone by. My mother used to wear an apron a lot, and she made me several of the ones that I own. I enjoy wearing aprons, and tend to need them as I am a messy cook! Glad you enjoyed this, and thank you for visiting. God bless you. Hope you are having a good evening...
DeleteI'd fear for that cat along still waters pond -- afraid some reptile would find him/her appealing.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I wear an apron when I cook (always!). Saves the clothes so they last so much longer!
The ham salad idea -- I used to do that when I had a meat grinder just like yours.
Ha ha..so far no signs of bad reptiles in this pond, and I pray it stays that way! Aren't aprons fun? they bring back fond memories of days gone by. My meat grinder belonged to my mother and is quite old, but still works well. I only use it to grind ham for either ham loaf or ham salad. Both are favorites here when we have leftover ham to use up! Hope you are doing well these days...
DeleteI loved the photos of you in your cute apron! My sweet mom always wore one and I have also started a collection of my own (oh how I wish I had of hers). I have vowed that I will start wearing them when we get in the farmhouse. And the meat grinder...oh how that brings back memories of my mom too...she used to make bologna salad as well as so many other things....love these things of days gone by! Loved this post!
ReplyDeleteMy mother also made bologna salad! This is my mother's meat grinder. She used it when we lived on the farm in PA back in the late 40's-50's. She gave it to me so I could use it to make ham loaf and ham salad...and an occasional bologna salad, but bologna is now too expensive to do that! LOL. My mother made several of my aprons, but this particular one I'm not sure where it came from, but I love it. I have some of my husband's grandmother's old aprons, but they are falling apart so I don't use them. Some were made from feed sack material I am sure. I do hope you will use aprons again when you get into your farmhouse. I know you are going to love it.
DeleteAprons have been a thing of the past. However, I believe they will be making a comeback. A young woman who went to our former church used them. They had a bib top and were longer than what I remember my mother and grandmother had. They were cute. Your mask is adorable. I enjoyed seeing the cat at the water's edge. That cactus is interesting; I never thought of the prickly pear cactus being in the shape of oa hand before. Good observation. Peace and blessings.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy wearing aprons as I tend to be a messy cook, and they save my clothes from getting messier than they already are. LOL. I am glad you enjoyed the pictures of my "unusual sightings". Sometimes things just hit me funny and have to be shared. We need more laughter and happy thoughts these days. Peace and blessings to you as well.
DeleteBeautiful roses! And that verse! The Lord reigns! Even during pandemics, he still reigns!
ReplyDeleteAmen! Our God Reigns!! We are blessed to be His children! Thank you for visiting. Praying for you and your family.
