But here it is time for Friday Foto Friends again, and I need to scroll back through the week and see if there are any pictures you haven't seen yet...if you have seen them already, please excuse me...I told you I was confused!
So this Mama caught up to two of her brood...
Two of them scamper along behind the mama right away, and there is always that one who lags behind a bit...
Actually, there are two mamas, and two obedient fawns...not sure who's who...but I'm sure they can sort them out...
She doesn't seem to know what to do. I am not really standing that close to them, but she can see me, and the others have already crossed over the dirt road to the other side and have disappeared from her view.
Not sure if they were wanting to try out the nectar, or just wanting to see who could shinny up a greased pole. Yes, it is greased a bit...I put vaseline on it to keep the ants from getting up and into the hummingbird feeder. So far, so good. They haven't been a problem this year. But the lizards must think it is a new event at the summer fair...
Have you ever seen a greased pole contest before? I have...my Daddy actually made it all the way to the top when no one else could, and he won the $5.00 bill that was attached to the top! It was a tall pole like a telephone pole! I was so proud that he was my daddy and he won the $5.00!
(For the local folks, this was at tiny little town called Cassia, Florida, when they used to have their "Cassia Day", with all kinds of fun and games and good BBQ chicken, corn on the cob...happy summer memories from my childhood. The thing I remember most about Cassia is they had the tiniest post office building ever seen!)(Here is a link to the Cassia Community Club Facebook Page, which has pictures of the place where we used to go so many years ago. I think the P.O. building is gone now. But I'm happy to see they still have the same kind of festivals there as in days of old.
This fella found his sweet spot in the shade...
For those of you who remember watching the Sand Hill Crane family nesting on that mud island this past spring, please note that the bright green foliage over beyond the pond lilies is where that "mud island" was. It is now quite overgrown, and almost covered with water.
Aren't these reflections interesting?
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there's pride in every American heart,
And it's time we stand and say:
I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land! God bless the U.S.A.
And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up... next to you and defend her still today.

Loved seeing your beautiful pictures of God's handiwork, as always, and the photos of the lizards reminded me of the trip we took to back to visit Florida when the kids were small. We stayed with my husband's sister in Orlando the first week and did Disney and all the touristy things. The second week we stayed with my aunt over in the panhandle, south of Tallahassee. We were amazed that the kids liked that week better and all we did was go to the beach and watch the kids chase lizards. They loved the lizards better than anything else in Florida. I had to check everything they packed when we loaded the car to be sure they weren't smuggling any home.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your photos. The sweet little fawns are absolutely adorable. What a blessing you get to live where you do. I know I say that all the time but it's so true. The lizards are very interesting. We have lizards here but they don't look like that... they're called blue-tailed lizards. And man are they fast! My favorites are the reflections of the clouds in the pond... And the American flag! Lee Greenwood used to have a local theater near us and that was our daughter's first real job. No it was her second. But we had to go pick her up each night around 10 until she saved to help us get her a car. She was so blessed to get to work with a lady that she's remained friends with to this day and I always felt like that lady watched out for my girl. Hope you have a great weekend... Stay cool! 💜
ReplyDeleteI like looking at reflections in the water. They are amazing I think.
ReplyDeleteNo lizards here and I am not sorry about that ;) but they look fun to watch.
I hope the little fawn's mommy came back for him.
Pam: As always, a delight to visit your blog. I love the pictures of the deer and the fawns.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your pictures this week. Love the baby deer and mamas and the reflections in the pond. Do you have alligators in your pond?
ReplyDeleteI love, love all your photos and your comments, too. Who could get tired of Bambi pics? The lizard is funny and I've never heard of the Vaseline trick.
ReplyDeletePoor little fawn left on her own . . . So hoping she did get reunited with Mama.
ReplyDeleteAnd your reflection photos are absolutely stunning, Pamela! Always look forward to Friday Foto time.
Blessings!
I thoroughly enjoyed your bambi photos. I am a little concerned the adults didn't come back for that one.
ReplyDeleteWonderful and fun photos, Pam! Joe and I saw a momma deer and two little ones run across the lane in front of our car on Thursday, leaving the farm. I stopped to take a picture but they had already fun pretty far away. You can just barely see them in my photo. I'll try to remember to share it on Monday. It is so fun to see them, though, and your little "Bambi" fawns are precious! Have a good weekend, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThe scenery is so lovely and you have lots of beautiful critter photos. I am glad you enjoyed your 4th of July. Have a blessed weekend.
ReplyDeleteI hope she found them again!
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela. Loved the Deer photos and I too hope that "mommy" went back for the baby but they usually don't. I had a pair of fawns visit outside my window every day for a week in my old apartment and "momma" was nowhere in sight. They took off on their own after a week of hanging around. Have a blessed weekend my friend.
ReplyDeletePam, your photos are once again amazing! Thank you for sharing them. I do hope that little fawn was reunited with its mommy.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I enjoyed all your pictues. Hoping the baby fawn got back with the mother and others. The clouds in the pond are especially lovely. Have a blessed Sunday.
