Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

Wednesday's Wisdom
We've all heard the saying, "The early bird catches the worm", right?
Well, this Cardinal is proving that true, in a sense...
We observed him sitting on top of our car early yesterday morning,
which is parked right under the sycamore tree.
Hanging down from the tree was a spider web with some kind of insect attached.
This innovative and intelligent Cardinal discovered that by sitting on top of the car he could actually dine on this captured feast without having to strain his wings at all!
Not too sure that the spider was very happy about this confiscation of his "goods",
but, like the old proverb says,
"The early bird catches the worm!"
Another good proverb, from the
Book of Proverbs 20:13 says:
"Do not love sleep,
lest you come to poverty;
Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with bread."
(or worms..or bugs caught in spider webs?)
I hope you enjoyed this bit of wisdom taught to us today by Mr. Cardinal...
with a little help from King Solomon!
Have a blessed day!!

A gem of wisdom, indeed, Pamela! That cardinal is one smart bird, isn't he?
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Yes he is! Must be one of the "Old Ones"! :)
DeleteThat was a great capture! Smart bird! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! Yeah, my hubby noticed this bird and I tried to take the picture looking through the window, between the blinds, and we have a tint on the window to help filter the sunlight, so it was a miracle it turned out at all! And, that the bird sat there long enough for all that to happen!! Now that you are ALMOST retired... (1 & 1/2 days to go), soon you will be taking all kinds of silly pictures like this too, just because you can!! :)
DeleteGreat photo of the bird.
ReplyDeleteIts hard to watch animals and not be shown up. They are so busy all the time.
"The early bird catches the worm"
ReplyDeleteYeah, but then what do you have? A worm.
;)
Pam: Beautiful sentiment. Hubby saw a monarch butterfly as we were getting out of our car down at our son's. We haven't seen many where we live.
