Tuesday 4 ~ Happy Autumn

 Happy Autumn

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4... are you ready for Autumn?

Sunday September 22 is the Autumnal Equinox, the first day of the Autumn season. Let's talk about it okay?

1. Are there pumpkins or chrysanthemums on your porch or are you planning on putting some out?
Not any pumpkins or mums yet, but there will be eventually. It's still so hot that I'm afraid a pumpkin this early would rot too soon, so I may wait a week or two.  Same with the mums, it is so dry right now, they wouldn't do well. However, we are expecting a possible hurricane this Thursday or Friday, so it's best not to put anything outside until that is over with. Praying it won't be anything too serious this time.

This picture is from October of 2020.  Those mums are all long gone away, so I need to see where I can find some nice ones again.

2. What seasonal changes are you noticing in your part of the world? What would you add or take away?
I shared some pictures on Saturday HERE that showed a few leaves that have changed already. Seasonal changes are very slow to appear here in north central Florida.  I am noticing that the maple trees are starting to change, but we don't have the real showy ones here like you do up north.  Also the holly berries are getting a brighter red each day.  Our temperatures are a little cooler each morning, but it's still getting too hot in the afternoon to be very pleasant.  Although I must say we've been having some nice breezes and lower humidity lately.  Once this hurricane gets past us things should start getting better.

3. Is pumpkin pie on the menu for you this fall? How about pumpkin spice or pumpkin latte coffee flavors? Are you a fan? Spiced teas? What do you like?

Now that you mention it, I do have some Pumpkin Spice tea sitting here in my kitchen right now!  I haven't had a cup lately because I've been too hot to drink it, but I will be trying it soon.  And yes, I do intend to make pumpkin pies during the fall season, and also probably will make an apple pie sometime too when I get some fresh good apples.

Oh, our new little church has a pumpkin patch ready for the kiddos!! 'Tis the Season!

4. If there was a free week long tour of New England, complete with peak colors and a trip to Plimouth, Massachusetts (the colony site with historical players), would you come along? If that doesn't suit, where would you like to go for your Autumn trip?
I would love that, especially if I could go on up into New Hampshire and Maine while in the area.  There are so many beautiful places in New England to see in the fall, but none as beautiful as seeing my grandson again and being able to maybe go with him to the Fryeburg Fair in Fryeburg, Maine, like we used to always do for his birthday in October when he was a little boy.  HERE is a link to a post about some of my favorite Fall memories.

But since we aren't able to do that this year (because our grandson said he was planning a trip during that time with his mother to go out west), we are going to be going to the north Georgia mountains for a few days in late October with our kids and also my brother in law and his wife. We are going to rent a cabin that has three levels with master suites so we each have our own private bedroom and bath, but we will be able to share the beautiful cabin style house and do some sight seeing and hopefully get some fresh apples.   So we are really looking forward to that!  Hopefully the weather will be cool enough for a fire in the firepit and also to make some s'mores. That will make me happy!!

So that's my thoughts on this first week of autumn!  Now let's go see what others are posting over at  Tuesday 4!  Thank you, Annie, for being our hostess each week!

To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created.”

  2. No changes here at all, we are going to 96 instead of 98 ha ha. Love what you did with your precious little new church gift.. and the plates look fantastic. No decor here, but there never has been. the truth of it all is I am cheap to the bone and can't make my self by seasonal things. the Christmas stuff I fhave is really old except I did buy a tree about 3 years ago, it is 18 inches tall ha ha
I love to see homes decorated and enjoy it but not if I have to pay and do the decorating.
I will get my autumen decor from all my blogger friends who never cease to amaze me with their seasons.

  6. I know you are looking forward to your trip up to North Georgia later in October, Pamela. It's so gorgeous there in the fall! Stay safe as the hurricane approaches. God bless!

  7. Your trip up north sounds wonderful and fits right into the Fall season with the colorful fall colors and crispness in the air. That alone, would kickstart that Autumn feeling in my heart. We like to take a drive through Yosemite in October. I don’t know if this year we’ll find the time with both of our commitments. I am not “feeling” Fall yet with our hot temperatures. I also won’t buy pumpkins because they will rot. It’s all about timing. Usually for me, Sept I concentrate on apples and pears - October is for pumpkins!
I’m looking forward to pumpkin pie!
    God bless

  8. I really like how you created a pumpkin patch around your new little church. It's so sweet. I do love most pumpking flavored things anytime of year. But not coffee. Yuck! I'm definitely not a coffee drinker.
Your trip sounds like lots of fun although I understand your disappointment in not seeing Noah. These grandkids sure have our hearts and they don't even know it. :-) I don't know what signs of fall are at home. We're driving across S. Dakota right now through a LOT of construction. All I see is dirt! lol We did see aspen trees changing throughout the Black Hills though. I miss having a porch to decorate for the seasons but I will definitely change my door hanger to an autumn one and also for Mom's apartment. I have a few pumpkins to put out too just to bring a bit of fall inside, although it's supposed to be quite warm yet outside.
I'm praying for you and everyone elses safety through the hurricane. Take care my dear friend.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  9. How exciting about your trip! I hope you have a marvelous time. Here's hoping the hurricane does no damage and only brings some nice rain to the area. Here near the beach we have no rain for over a month or more now. They get it inland but the coastal winds blow it way off shore and northward for us. Everything is dried if you don't water it. My grass is golden now from lack of water. Hope you find your Chrysanthemums. I love the football mums. in high school we sold them to raise funds for school at Thanksgiving time. They are my birthday flower too so I have a soft spot for them., Hugs.

  10. Well, from my last blog post, you saw what my decorations have been. October will be wreath on the door time and maybe a few knick knacks around the house.
Oh, a free trip to the East Coast would be fabulous. I want to see those brilliant colors and feel that crisp air.
Today its suppose to get up to 100F...so much for crisp cool days...
Ummm yumm for pumpkin pie and muffins..not so much on pumpkin lattes or tea.
Love your new church and how you turned it to fall.
Its always a treat to visit your blog.

  11. Sometime before we moved out of Colorado (I don't remember the year), my husband and I took a Globus Leaf Peeping Tour that began and ended in Boston, with travel through 4 states over 8 days. It was absolutely beautiful. But your plans for a trip to north Georgia should be very satisfying, too, and I'm glad you've got plans to do that. (Globus is the name of the bus line)
