I'll start this post out with some different pictures from Still Waters Pond:
Yes, I know I am way behind! It's been a busy week...But a good week. Every day has had something going on and I've been trying to keep up, but, well...I hope you understand how it is...between church and family activities, physical therapy, etc. But I do have many things for which to be thankful...so here we go:
- We did finally get our septic tank pumped out on Monday morning after a long weekend without the full functioning of the "facilities"... We sure were happy to see those people early Monday morning! Come to find out that there is a "filter" between the tank and the drain field, and apparently it is supposed to be cleaned every year...(who knew that???). And yes, we could do it ourselves if we want to...just a matter of lifting a very heavy concrete 18" diameter lid and pulling out the metal filter and hosing it down...Okay...any volunteers? LOL. As long as we have strong young people around to help, we can manage it, but eventually that will be one of those things that we'll have to just remember to call someone to take care of...
- Speaking of having strong young people around...This week our grandson decided to start helping Grandpa clean out the shed. It is a job that has needed doing ever since we moved here actually...we have just never really ever gotten around to getting it organized like it should be.
So he worked diligently in sorting out things that needed to be kept and things that really needed to be pitched. - And today our son came over with his pick up truck and they loaded up the stuff that needed to go to the dump
It may not look it, but this is actually a great improvement! And yes, this is still a work in progress!
- Next item of thankfulness: Hubby and I both had eye appointments today. I thought for sure that I would need new lenses in my glasses, but apparently my eyes have not changed enough for that. I do have the very tiny beginning of a cataract, but the Dr. said it will be a while before it is ready for surgery.
- I am thankful for our family and all the blessings of having them with us (and/or nearby). We've been having great times together and just enjoying being "family".
- I am thankful for the Ladies' Bible Study that I attend each week. We've been studying the book of Acts this year. It is more than just straight "study time". We share burdens and joys and concerns with one another and pray for each other as well. Sometimes God answers little prayers (and big ones) as we read and study God's Word together...we see things we maybe had never noticed before, or get a new or clearer perspective on what the Scriptures are saying. This week as we focused on Acts chapter 8 and the story of Philip being led by the Holy Spirit to go and talk with the Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8:26-40), we saw how "we can share the message (of Christ as our Messiah) with one person at a time, and leave the results to the Lord." That was a huge comfort to me...especially the part about leaving the results with the Lord. We are not responsible for how or when a person responds to God's truth found in His Word. We are only responsible for being faithful to share God's Word as we are led by the Holy Spirit, and to live our lives in such a way that others will see Jesus living in us...and leave the rest to Him. That is a big relief! It's God's business, and He will take care of the rest!
- I am thankful for all of God's beautiful creation surrounding us each day. We just need to be present...open our eyes and see and appreciate what He has done for us. And with that I will share a few more pictures from around Still Waters Pond this week.
Finally the whole family made it across the pond and are headed around the shore to work their way back around the pond and to their resting place on the other side for the night.
How nice that you had so much help in cleaning out the shed. It's a bit of a pain how hard things get for us to do the older we get isn't it? Eventually it will all look great in there!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing photos of the birds around your place. The bluebird family is so dedicated to each other and their family to be. The sandhill crane family is the same. I can't believe how big the colts are already.
I get my eyes checked next month. I fear that I'm going to need new glasses It's been awhile since I had new ones. We'll have to find out.
I hope your Wednesday is a wonderful one.
Blessings,
Betsy
Lovely birds, good family, great help all make for a good week. Happy to hear the facilities are up to snuff too. There is so much to do in a home. I just had the exterminator out for mice and tomorrow the lawn man comes to give me an estimate on cleaning the yard and mowing for me. So much I can't do anymore. Have a spectacular Friday my friend.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading and catching up with your days. I always love your nature photos. I didn’t get such a good report at the eye doctor. Pooh! I have to have that cataract surgery. I am going to do it over summer. All I could think was I am way too young for this.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of Blue Birds here now. They are so pretty. Love your photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful that I apparently I've had the bulk of my surgeries before Obamacare and this current Marxist Admin that's ruining healthcare even further. The stories I could share about what's happenin' to many of my friends waiting for care ... it's disgusting. I'm thankful we have Jesus Christ and won't have to put up with the veil of tears much longer. To God be the glory. Amen!?
I'm thankful to be a part of a Church that's trying to reach others for Christ. Please pray for us as we start a mailing campaign to encourage the neighborhood to attend Church and live for Him. Thanks.
I'm thankful for friends like y'all that pray for all of us. This world needs a lot of prayer.
Love to you all. xx
Gosh, Pam, those first few pictures look like a Monet painting! Congratulations on the great eye exam; that's something I never used to appreciate. If your 'kids' grow bored cleaning and sorting, would you please send them our direction (lol). Seriously, such a blessing to have willing hearts and hands. I love what you said about the sharing that takes place in your Bible study -- ours feels the same way. A safe place to lay our burdens or concerns. Blessed!
ReplyDeleteSo many things for which to be thankful, Pamela! I love that you now have multiple family members close by - such a blessings as we get older to have younger, stronger hands to help us with the hard chores. Just looking at the photos has me sensing the love and closeness all of you share. And of course, the wildlife pictures always make me smile.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Hi Pamela, I enjoyed your post today. I like that last verse post! Our church studied the book of Acts not to long ago. We covered Lydia in my Bible journaling group. I plan to introduce Hagar and Rahab in May. I also have cataracts and will need surgery in the next couple of years Glad you are getting help with your shed.
ReplyDeletePam: It is a blessing that you have strong men in your family. God has been good to you in that way. I love the pictures of the birds on the pond. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel good to start cleaning out a place, like your garage? I find that sort of thing energizes me to do more.
ReplyDeleteThanks for catching us up on your news, Pam! I love the photos of your pond and all the activity that goes on continually there. That bluebird is so handsome!! It is so great that the grandkids are there and are helping you with projects! I'm right there with you and John and the cataracts. I will be getting my first one later this summer. New glasses will be ready in another week that I hope will get me through a few more months. Have a beautiful weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the many smiles...so sorry to hear about the cataracts...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE blue herons! And blue birds. Your photos made me smile. I am hoping that this coming week we can get our bird feeder and hummingbird feeder up and functioning. Looking forward to watching all the birds (just don't have a pond...)
ReplyDeleteLooks like y’all have been getting a lot accomplished! Love the little baby birds! Nature is amazing and you have a fabulous view of it form your yard!
