Saturday Review-Finally a Post!

I bet some of you thought I'd dropped off the planet this week! Although I've tried to stay in touch with as many as I can through your blogs, I haven't had much going on to write about here all week.  Goodness gracious! I didn't even have a Friday Foto Friends post yesterday! What's up with that?  Well...it's been raining all week long, and we've been busy at Dixie Cottage and other stuff and I guess I just haven't taken time to take pictures or come up with anything intelligent to share with you.  (Although some may wonder if I ever DO have anything intelligent to share...LOL.)

So here it is Saturday, and a mighty rainy one at that!  But it's been a lovely lovely day. Why? Because our dear friend Terri D'Orsaneo, of "Your Friend From Florida" fame...traveled all the way up here to see us today!  She lives about 3 hours away, but had another stop to make on the way to visit another of our blogging friends, Barbara from "Sweet Tea and Sandals" fame...and then since she was so close to us she wanted to come on up and see us and also visit Dixie Cottage.  So we met at our church because we were having a potluck luncheon today and that made for a fun and interesting way to "do lunch"...(Terri will have more photos to share on her blog when she gets back home, so be sure to check them out later).

Here we are doing a "selfie" in front of the church...

And somehow in the midst of taking our picture I managed to accidentally snap a picture of the skies above us...you can see they were building up for a big rain...and yes, they surely did open up and pour...

But we managed to get down the street to Dixie Cottage and had our picture taken by my son Benton. (I think Terri has a picture of him to share)

Next we headed to our house, and the heavens opened up and really dumped a ton of rain on us just as we were trying to get inside the house (hence the wet hair on my head). In the craziness of the moment I dropped my big round Pyrex casserole dish that I had taken to the potluck dinner with macaroni and cheese in it, and the lid broke into a million pieces on our steps, along with the leftover macaroni. So that's why I got especially wet, trying to pick up the pieces as best I could. Finally just had to leave it because it was raining so hard, and John and I cleaned it all up later after Terri left for home. Now I need to be on the lookout for a spare large round Pyrex casserole lid. to replace it.  Maybe some thrift store will have one.
Here we are standing on our back porch, overlooking Still Waters Pond. It was raining so hard on the tin roof that we could barely hear each other talking.
After a wonderful visit (back inside where it was dry) Terri decided she'd better get back on the road and hopefully dodge the bad storms on her way back home. I've been praying for her all the way and hope she will let me know when she arrives safely.

Oh, I almost forgot! Terri brought us this delicious Pumpkin Spice bread:
The bag was so cute, but it also got caught in the rain and smeared the writing a bit! LOL. Thankfully the bread wasn't hurt as it was well wrapped.

It would have been nice to have a piece of this with Terri before she left with a cup of tea or coffee, but we were still too full from the potluck luncheon.  So I guess Lily Grace and Bailey and I will have to have our own little tea party later!

Okay, that's all for now folks!
Please say a prayer for Terri as she is still on the road.

Giving thanks to the Lord for the good friends I've met here in "blogland". Which reminds me...
Yesterday at Dixie Cottage another lovely friend who reads our blogs but doesn't have her own blog stopped by to pick up a piece of furniture that she and her husband had ordered from our son.  Her name is Betty Barber, and she may comment on your posts now and then as well.  This is the second time we've met, and the second time I've forgotten to have our picture taken together.  She just moved not too far up the road in the next town from us, so hopefully we will get together again soon and definitely get our picture taken! It's a tradition!!  Thank you, Betty, if you are reading this, for your visit. You are a delightful person and I hope we get to meet again soon.

Here is a prayer of blessing for our friends Terri and Betty today...and for each of you as well, whether we've met in person or not...you are ALL very special to me...

Amen

    1. Thank you, Linda. Yes, it was wonderful to see Terri (again). We've met several times now, and we are always happy to do so. The rain has finally stopped for now and Terri did get home safely. Praise God! I'm sure I'll find another lid for the dish somewhere. It was just such a mess!

  3. Pam, it was a lovely visit but much too short!! I enjoyed visiting with you and John and also had a great time at the potluck. So many sweet people there! Dixie Cottage is precious!! I loved seeing it in person (and meeting Benton) and will enjoy the soaps I bought! Thanks for your hospitality and the prayers. I got home safely, even with the heavy rains through Ocala on the way back. Praise God.

    1. Thank you so much, Terri. It was big trip for you today. I am just so thankful you made it home safely. Yes, it was too short of a visit! Next time pack your bag and make sure someone will feed the kitties! LOL. God bless you dear "friend from Florida!"

  4. How wonderful that you had a visit from a blogger friend. It sure sounds like Dixie Cottage is bringing around some other blogger friends for you to meet as well. Sadly I live very far from blogger friends so I haven't met too many though interestingly the ones I have met lived quite far from me. Another one I will hopefully meet next month when she visits Vancouver from Hong Kong. She is a textile artist and her work is magnificent. Thanks for visiting my blog today. I'm still a bit quiet on line but I am posting more regularly; at least for now. Enjoy your weekend and the refreshing that rain can bring to the soil.

    1. Thank you, Penny. Oh, your upcoming visit with your blogging friend from Hong Kong sounds very interesting indeed! That's pretty amazing! Yes, I was glad to see you are posting some again. I know I have been getting a bit behind, but I don't want to lose contact with all of you so I keep persevering! It's well worth the effort to maintain our friendships that we make here. God bless you...and have a wonderful week.

  5. I'm so glad you and Terri enjoyed your time together! Wow, that sky shot looks ominous. What a shame about the broken lid! I'm just happy you weren't cut. Perhaps you could find a replacement at Goodwill? Maybe our friend Linda would know where to look for deals.

    1. Thank you, Myra. Oh, I just remembered you were going to get to meet Terri and then it got changed...I am sorry for you both, but maybe it will happen again soon. Yes, I am sorry about the lid too, but thankful neither of us got cut. It was such a mess in the rain right on the steps! We have a lot of thrift stores in this area so I will start checking them out to see if I can find one. You just never know!

  6. Seeing the photos of you and Terri together infused my heart with joy, Pamela! I'd been praying for safe travels for Terri, too, and what a happy ending this all had. I do hope that one day Danny and I will make it down to your neck of the woods, and that we can all get together. As close as I feel to all of you, it will be more like a reunion instead of a first meeting. God is so good that way!
    Blessings!

    1. Oh Martha! How I would love it if you could come down for a visit sometime. I am sure we could gather a few friends to join in the fun/reunion! That would be a wonderful experience for each of us I am certain. Keep that thought in mind...maybe a fall or winter trip to Florida might be a good goal to look forward to!! We would all love to meet you finally face to face! Meanwhile, take care and enjoy the early days of fall coming your way. I am looking forward to some cooler weather sometime in the next month...please, Lord? Ha Ha. Take care my friend.

    1. Thank you, Betsy! I am a blessed woman indeed! So very thankful for the friendships made here in "blogland". Each one is unique and so very special. And yes, I am sorry about the lid as well. thankfully there is Glad Wrap and/or Aluminum foil if I can't find a real lid to replace it. But I have a feeling there will be a lid out there somewhere! It will be like a treasure hunt to look for one! LOL. Have a blessed day and week.

  9. Hi Pamela, Blogging friends are the best friendships, it's wonderful that you met some, and got to spend time with them, Love all your photos, I can certainly relate to breaking a dish , last week I dropped my favorite coffee mug that matched my dear husbands, I was so disappointed.
I have been so busy with catch`up on work and trying to get my energy back, that I haven't spent to much time in blogland. I alway enjoy reading your thoughts and seeing your photos. Thank you for sharing the Irish Blessing
    Blessings,
    Sue

  10. Hi Pamela! That is so nice that you could get together with Terri. Blogging friends are such nice people and good friends! We would gladly take some of your rain here in Utah. We are in a major drought, but are hoping for some rain next week. At least our temperatures have cooled and we are only in the 90s. Sorry about your broken lid. That is frustrating. I hope you can find another one at a thrift store. I hope you have a good week. See you again soon!

  13. Good afternoon, I pray this is a great week for you, I will not be visiting too much as I have started a new focus on my blog whereby I am encouraging women daily to focus more on God through various means that hopefully will bless them while they demonstrate Jesus to others in their world! I just feel that I have been a bystander Christian and if others are, too, then Im trying to make it easy for them to live more intentionally. There will be good stuff daily and I am hoping folks will stop in. Blessings!
