Tuesday 4
Inquiring Minds Wanna Know...
Hello! You are so welcome here at Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. I hope you are enjoying the questions and the chance to blog about your likes, dislikes and opinions and find out about those of other people. Be sure to visit around. That is part of the fun.
Let's inquire about stuff....
1. What gets your blood to boiling?
Well, to be honest, I'd rather not answer this question, because it will get my blood to boiling just thinking about the things that get my blood to boiling. Mostly the news these days. So we don't watch anymore of it than totally necessary, which is as little as possible. I hear enough to know what's going on, and that gets my blood to boiling, so I have to stay away. And I pray for our country and all the things that are happening. I try to commit these things to the Lord because I know He's able to take care of it and I can't.
2.What does a really good day look like for you? What makes you say, "That was a great day"?
A really good day is a day spent with loved ones, friends, church family, loved ones that I haven't seen in a long while...old friends...or hearing from special people either via phone call or letter or card or a surprise visit or text with pictures from my grandson. Of course, the normal every day days are just fine too...a day watching the rain or the birds or taking walks with my hubby, or yesterday I remember saying it was a good day...we went to Sunday School and church, which was great, and then out to lunch with our kids and friends from church...even some new folks who just moved into our community and came to church for the first time and we invited them to join us for lunch and they did and it was really nice getting to know new people. That was really nice. Then we came home and took a nap. Yeah, that was a good day! LOL.
3. Are you continuing to grow mentally, spiritually, talent wise or are you just marking time?
I believe I am still growing as long as I am living. Spending time in God's Word each day before I start the day helps me to grow spiritually...so does going to Sunday School and church and Bible study. Also reading, having good "intellectual" and spiritual conversations with others helps me to grow. As far as talents go...singing in the church choir helps me to continue using my voice for God's glory...writing my blog and challenging myself to work a little harder at it rather than just going through the motions also helps me to stay on my toes. In the very near future I will be helping our son and daughter in law with their new store, and I believe that will be a great blessing for me as well as it will help them. I enjoy meeting new people and I look forward to welcoming them to the store and helping them any way I can.
4. Have you changed your hair style since high school? Why or why not?
Oh yes. This was me at age 16. In order to get that nice smooth flip hairdo, I had to roll my hair on orange juice cans and even slept on them. No wonder I have neck problems today! LOL. We didn't have hand blow dryers back then, so either you had to walk around all day with your hair in curlers or sit under a big hot dryer for an hour.
Actually, by the time I was in college I had changed my hairdo to a much shorter and easier style. This was me in art class in college:
Then, by the time I was engaged, which wasn't long after the previous picture, this is how I was wearing my hair:
That still required a bit of teasing and rolling and hairspray and dippity do hair gel.
So here I am now, (53 years later) on the 4th of July, just after a very short hair cut:
It's short, but it's easy to take care of and it suits me just fine for now. The less fussing I have to do with my hair, the happier I am. More time to enjoy the finer things of life, like eating that bowl of home-made ice-cream and cake! LOL.
I feel the same as you about the news. We rarely watch it anymore. We just keep up with what we NEED to know.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed seeing your photos over the years. We all seem to look pretty much the same don't we? My hair is shorter than yours even. I love the easy care, but I do miss fixing my hair in braids, etc. My 9 year old granddaughter used to like me to fix our hair the same. Braids, pulled back or barrettes.
Take care.
Blessings,
Betsy
Wow, shorter than mine? Now that's short! But I cannot imagine putting my hair in braids...that sounds like a lot of work! Your hair must have been quite long? Did you wear your braids down or coiled up around your head? Is your hair curly or straight? I imagine with the braids it was wavy and pretty when you took out the braids. Would love to see a picture!! I've never had my hair long enough for braids, even as a child. My hair was too thick to let it grow that long I think, and my mother didn't want to have to deal with it. LOL.
DeleteI can't watch the news anymore, to frustrating. Loved your hair photos! Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteBy the time I was in high school, almost every girl had long hair; of course, I went along with the crowd. My hair is still "long" but is thinning too much for my liking; hoping my doctor will have some answers for me this week when I visit with him.
ReplyDeleteAnd at my age, every day without aches or pains is a good day!
Blessings, Pamela!
I loved seeing the transition of your hair styles! Yes, I remember the portable hair dryer with the hood. I've found as I get older I get a bit testier and things irritate me more. I'm constantly being taken to task by the Lord when I get like that. What's that saying - "Not my monkeys - not my circus?" Something like that.
ReplyDeleteAw, love seeing the photos of younger you and your hairstyles. I'd comment more but this latest bug seems to be kicking my behind today. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to see how your hair transitioned over the years. You put a lot more effort into yours than I ever did, though I did put my hair in a pony tail on the top of my head, used 4 orange juice cans to roll it and slept that way nightly.
ReplyDeleteI still keep up with the news but I found I had rather read it than watch any of the news outlets. I want to know what is going on but I don't want opinions!
I only watch news every now and then. It upsets me too.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your hair pictures. So fun. Loved your answers!
Have a nice week.

Oh man, I totally agree about what's on the news. I don't even have to be in the same room ... just hearing 'someone's voice' can set my teeth on edge. Ordinary ingredients sure make for a great day, don't they? Your lunch invite to the 'new folks' is such a sweet gesture; who amongst us doesn't remember how it feels to be the new kid.
ReplyDeletePS - Your engagement picture is stunning -- but then, so is your smile now!
You are A-DOOR-able!!!
ReplyDeleteEach one of those hair styles look really good on you. Hope you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteYour answers are most interesting. I don't watch news's that doesn't upset me as much. A good day can often be a simple day, just enjoying life. Hair? Where to start with that? I had braids till I was almost ready for high school, but always long and not great looking. By now, I'm just thankful I still have a few hair and few is what it really is.
ReplyDeleteLove your answer for #2. I do love seeing all the photos you shared of your hair.
ReplyDeleteOur "flips" are almost the same, Pam! Those were the days! I stayed away from answering news and politics for that first question but I agree with you 100%. Short hair is the only way to go now, in my mind anyway. As you said... easy, and certainly cooler!! Love & hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou slept on orange juice cans!! Oh my - what a hoot! Your description of a very good day....sounds like a very good day, indeed. I look forward to the fun days or special days but the "every day, ordinary" days are generally some of the best days for me!! And, yes, your hair now suits you just fine!!:)
ReplyDeleteHIgh School graduation: Long flip hair style; College: Short bob; longer at different times since. Presently, short-on the order of a modified pixie. Growing spiritually but at times I feel I am just marking time. A good day for me is when it is in the 70 degree range and low humidity. Another definition of a good day for me is when I can remain calm in spite of the circumstances around me. Blood boiling for me is when I hear of the turmoil in this world: the shootings, the senseless taking of innocent people's lives, especially children. It almost makes me sick to think about it. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading all your answers and seeing all your photos. I agree that a great church service and time spent in fellowship makes for a very good day.
ReplyDeleteI love our short hair styles now...perfect for Florida! Enjoy your evening!
ReplyDeleteOrange juice cans!! Oh no.. that's just awful poor you! yeah, can't have done your neck any good. Before the hand held driers, I would take the hose from the hood and blow my hair dry that way. Thankfully the hand held came out quickly though. I still use Dippity Do. I don't use rollers or anything. I just blow my hair or let it dry naturally but I put a bit of dippity do on top to add a little volume and it works great. They still sell it and I found it at TJ Maxx and bought a few jars. I used to use it to make my bangs pin straight. Thanks for joining in!! I enjoyed seeing your photos.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers. your photos are beautiful. I'd love to cut my hair shorter, but it grows super fast and I'd have to always be cutting it. Keeping it longer lets me wear it up when I get too hot, which is often.
ReplyDeleteYou were beautiful in your engagement picture. I slept on big orange rollers as well. Three placed in a circle around the top of my head.
