This Is My Father's World-Oh Let Me ne're forget"

Thank you all for your prayers this week as we've been a bit under the weather, literally. It's been cold, and we've both been sick with a bad cold or virus or whatever you want to call it...it's been enough to keep us in the house and literally "under cover" all week.  I think we are getting better day by day and we are very very thankful for that.

It's been a bit too cold (yes, here in Florida!) this week for us to go outside anyway, even if we felt up to it.  We are thankful  that we can enjoy God's beautiful "world" and creation right here from our back porch anytime.  I took most of these pictures last week before we got sick, but  they are still representative of what we see here most every day right now.  The geese on Still Waters Pond, enjoying life!
Oh, you might enjoy listening to this song by this wonderful group of young musicians from "Fountainview Academy". I don't really know anything about them particularly, only that they make some wonderful music videos and I always enjoy seeing these very talented young people singing songs to the glory of God.  They definitely restore my faith in the young generation.

"This is My Father's World", sung by Fountainview Academy

This is My Father's World, by Maltbie D. Babcock

 This is my Father's world,
And to my listening ears
All nature sings, and round me rings
The music of the spheres.

This is my Father's world:
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas--
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father's world:
The birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white,
Declare their Maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
He shines in all that's fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me everywhere.

3 This is my Father's world:
O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet
This is my Father's world:
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King: let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let earth be glad!

I hope you enjoyed that song and the geese!
These are just some of the things that I find delight in seeing.
On one of our recent walks in the woods I was amazed to discover some very unique and interesting fungi growing on the decaying forest floor. It is a always a wonder to me how there can be so much beauty even in decay!

I've never seen any fungi quite like these before. Kind of like star shapes.

And there were these growing on this tree trunk:

Again, everything has a purpose under Gods' heavens...

"To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:"
Ecclesiastes 3:1
These fungi look like either beautiful sea shells or some kind of exotic fans

I never tire of seeing the beauty in God's creation.

So this week we've been resting, recuperating, and thanking the Lord we are not as sick as we could have been.  Hubby did finally go to the Dr. and got some meds because his cough was getting worse and not really very productive.  Thankfully he slept much better last night and therefore so did I.  LOL.
Our kids have been very kind to pick up things for us at the store...and our sweet DIL Rose even dropped off a nice rotisserie chicken yesterday as an extra bonus. That was SO thoughtful! We are truly blessed.

Well, I need to bring this to a close. Hubby just asked if I'd like to go for a ride. That sounds like progress!  It's a beautiful day, and a ride might just be what the doctor ordered!

I hope this finds you all enjoying God's beautiful creation all around you, wherever you are...
Peace and Blessings

  1. Fungi is kinda my thing too. There are so many variations of it and it serves a special purpose in breaking down plant fiber to make more rich soil. Yet another of God's wonders that keep everything spinning in greased grooves.
    Wonderful photos.
I hope you're both feeling better today.
    Love & Blessings. xx

We live in such an amazing world...all designed and ordered by God. We are blessed to be a beloved part of His design. We are feeling better day by day. Very thankful indeed.

    1. Thank you, Debby. We are getting better day by day. God is good. I'm glad you enjoyed the tree fungi! There is always something interesting to see in God's beautiful creation, if we just open our eyes to see! Have a blessed day.

    1. Oh how wonderful to learn such a beautiful hymn as a child! I love it when we are taught from childhood just how marvelous and wonderful God's creation is, and we have a greater appreciation for the beauty around us when we see it through His eyes. I am feeling better day by day. Thank you so much.

    1. I can imagine that would be a favorite of yours...you have such a keen sense of God's beauty where you are as well. I love how God gives us such joy in capturing pictures of His beauty for others to see. Thank you for sharing that with us.

  5. Feeling good enough to go for a ride??? Now, that's the kind of good news I love to hear, Pam! Yes, I've been praying that you both have a speedy recovery and it does look like God has graciously answered.
I love that hymn, and your photos speak to my heart renewed - there is beauty and wonder in the most seemingly insignificant aspects God's creation, and we cheat ourselves when we fail to take pause and reflect upon His wonders couched in the simplest things. May no moment He gives us be wasted!
    Blessings, dear friend!

    1. Thank you, Martha. How are YOU feeling? I've been still praying for your strength and complete healing. I know it takes a while to get your strength back completely after such a bout with sickness. So thankful God brought you through it. We are getting better day by day. We did take a little ride, but not for long. One day at a time. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. It's amazing to me to see so much beauty around us in the most unexpected places. We just need to open our eyes. Please take care of yourself and stay warm and cozy. I know it's been cold up there this week. (((Hugs)))

  6. Praises for your and John's journey back to wellness!
I'd not heard this song before ... but it certainly won't be the last! Those young people are so talented; and yes, it's sure nice when young folks aren't as bad as the mainstream media would have us believe.

Oh, what beauty in decay! Thank you for sharing these images! Ecclesiastes 3:1 may be my favorite verse/song.

    1. Thank you, Myra. We are well on our way I think, Praise God. But I am seeing the dr. today to hopefully get some medicine to help clear this thing out completely.
I am glad you enjoyed the pictures, especially of the fungi! Aren't they just so interesting? God creates so many wonderful things for us to enjoy if we just look for it!! Have a blessed day.

  7. I am glad to hear you both felt up to getting out and about for a bit!! Praise God. The power of prayer!! That is a crazy fungi growing on that tree! I wish I knew what was good to eat and what is poison. I like mushrooms but I will stick to trusting Publix! That is a great song and one I remember from church when I was a lot younger. I love the hold hymns and miss them. xo

    1. THank you, Terri. Yes, we are feeling better, but I am going to the Dr. today to get checked and be tested. I need something to help move this stuff on out of my head. It feels like it's stuck there. LOL. A lot of our church people also are sick with this same thing...and many are positive for C. So, I'm just glad we aren't too sick and that we've stayed home all week. Yes, I love that song and all the old hymns. I am so glad our church still loves to sing the old hymns. We have a little of each kind of music...but we treasure our hymns. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  8. I'm SO GLAD to hear you're feeling better and your hubby got medicine and is doing better too! Love your pictures of the ducks amongst the shimmer of the water, and the lily pads, so pretty! Wow! That one tall tree is COVERED with those weird things, SO MANY! I've never seen one like that before. Some kind of fungi i guess? You always have the most pretty and/or interesting things to show us! Nope, I would never be bored there like you said....Florida has some amazing history too! I haven't read AS MUCH of it as Charleston but what I've read has been so interesting. I love to read the stories and see pictures of the "Old Florida", way before the beach resorts and the Walt stuff. Hope you are continuing to get better and stronger each day....did you get to go out for a ride today? We are supposed to get a real cold spell here tomorrow, gotta get our our winter coats and hats! LOL Hugs

    1. Thanks Debbi. We are feeling better, but I am going to see the Dr. today and I am going to get tested to be sure what this is or isn't. I am getting better, but it feels a lot like a head cold that can't get moving...needs some help to get out of there. So hopefully the meds will help. We are supposed to get rain later today, and then maybe it is getting cold again? I don't know, have to check. We took a very short ride yesterday, but it was nice and pretty. I just didn't take any pictures. Now I wish I had. Oh well...maybe we'll try again later. Have a blessed day and stay warm!!

  9. PS Pam I loved the story about the pretty ballerina doll in the window During Christmas when you were a little girl! What a neat memory. She must've been beautiful and you remember her so clearly. I only wish you had a picture........

    1. Thank you, Debbi. I wish I had a picture too. I've talked to other people who lived in the area at the same time, and they also have the same memory of driving past that house on Christmas to see the ballerina doll dancing, but no one seems to have a picture or know who those people were. I've often wondered whatever happened to that doll. To a little girl she was the most beautiful "dancer" in the world!

There is something always amazing to see, no matter what part of the country we live in. Each is unique and special in its own way. Thank you for your kind words. We are getting better day by day.

  14. Sorry to hear you and hubby have been sick. Did you get tested? Wondering if it is/was Omicron. Apparently the symptoms for it are so much like the common cold people can't tell which they have. Hopefully this cold spell for you will pass soon and you'll feel up to getting out and about again soon. Wonderful pictures of nature. Nature is so restorative for many of us.

  15. Glad y'all are on the mend. It seems lots of folks have something. My daughter has been sick but didn't test positive. They have a lot of tests at work. Hopefully we will get past this soon. It has been cold here too. Pooh. I stayed inside all day yesterday.
    Love the fungi pictures.
Y'all take care and enjoy the car ride.

  16. Pam, thank you for sharing these beautiful photos of God's creation and the beautiful old hymn, "This is My Father's World".

I'm trying to not laugh about your cold temperatures...however, I'm laughing. In Iowa we've had some bitterly cold temperatures after a bit of warmth. At this point, it warms up only to get bitterly cold again. That is Iowa in winter...we need it for our plants and crops.

    Love and blessings!
