Hello!

Yes, this is the same Amaryllis plant that was blooming earlier right after Christmas. This is it's 2nd stalk and it is now up to 20" tall and ready to start blooming again any day!  This is why you don't throw these things away after they bloom the first time! They must just have a surprise waiting for you!! There's probably a life lesson there if you think about it...

Just wanted to check in with you for a quick update.  First of all...today is Lily Grace's birthday, for those of you who love to follow The Adventures of Lily Grace. You can click on that link to hear all about her first birthday party! It's been a busy and happy and exciting day for Lily Grace and friends...

2nd, we are feeling some better, but still not able to go out and about and mingle, if you get my drift. We are thankful, however, that our Medicare Advantage plan HMO provided all kinds of free goodies to help us get better...lots of vitamins, nebulizer, O2 measure thing, antibiotics, etc. , and even phone calls to check on us. That made it worth all the discomfort of having that swabby thing reaching to who knows where to tell us what we already knew...you can figure it out for yourself.   Anyway, thank you for your prayers on our behalf.  We are VERY thankful to have what I would call a very mild case of this bug compared to what others have had to endure. We give glory to God for His mercy and grace.

Tomorrow is Sunday, and we are very sad that we will not be able to attend church for the 2nd week in a row. But I am thankful our Pastor pre-records his sermons for us so we can watch them at our convenience.  I will post a link to it tomorrow when it uploads.

Again, thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers this past week. We do believe prayers are being answered and we are very very thankful.

Have a wonderful night, and keep warm! It will be 33 here in the morning, and never got above 46 all day today.  Yes...this IS Florida! But it IS winter!

"I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me."

  1. I have an amaryllis bulb that has grown every year since I got it in 2002 from my [step]mom. When it doubled, I split the bulb a few years ago to share with a family member and theirs is still going strong also. I found you via Linda's blog, and have added you and Lily Grace to my blog list. My birthday is today also, but I'm a little older at 65 lol. I will pray for your continued recovery and that you feel comepletely well very soon! Blessings to you, Pamela!

    1. Welcome, Diana! I am SO happy you came over to visit us today of all days...your birthday!! I hope you have had a happy birthday! 65 is a big year. I retired the year I turned 65, and have never regretted it for one moment. I have checked out your blog, and will add it to my bloglist. I look forward to getting better acquainted with you in the future. May God bless you and keep you, and may you have many more happy birthdays.

  2. That Amaryllis is stunning, Pam ... and my favorite color! Please don't let me forget to buy one of my own next year? So grateful for your healing! Praise God, indeed! On a local level our church ladies' private FB thread has been blowing up with concerns about the spread. Like wildfire. Even those who initially 'pooh-pooed' are laying low and staying home.

    1. Thank you, Myra. You might still be able to find one of the amaryllis bulb kits at Lowes or Home Depot or maybe even Walmart in the garden center. But if not, yes, be sure to look for them next year before Christmas. They are such fun to watch grow and bloom. Yes, our church ladies' FB private "prayer warrior" group is doing the same thing...I am not sure that our church will be even 1/2 full today. I kind of wish they had just gone ahead and cancelled the services today because so many are sick, but they didn't want to do that for those who still want to be there. Just praying no one else gets it. Thankfully it has been this milder form, Omicron I assume. We are just so thankful we are not worse than we could have been. God is very gracious. Hope you and your hubby and pups are cozy and warm and feeling fine today. God bless you all.

    1. Thank you, Ruth. Yes, as much as we hate to admit it, it caught up with us, but we sure put up a good fight! LOL. Thankfully it is a milder form of the original virus, and we are very very thankful to God.

  4. Oh my, so sorry to hear you are down with the big bug! But also VERY glad that you have a mild case. I gave my mom an amaryllis before Christmas and it bloomed, but like yours it got extremely tall. Then it got top heavy and took a nose dive off the table and broke all its blossoms off. Happy birthday to Lily Grace! Praying you are soon well.

    1. Thank you, Stacy. Oh, I will be watching out for the "nose dive" on the amaryllis plant. Thank you for the warning! I may need to prop it up with some sticks or something before it blooms, which will be any day now. They are fun to watch grow and blossom, but not take nose dives! LOL. Thank you for Lily Grace's b.d. wishes. She sends her love. We will be fine in no time. God has been very very gracious to us and we are very thankful.

    1. Yes, we are very thankful to the Lord for His watchcare over us, and providing us with what we need for a full recovery. One day at a time. Today we are just hunkered down and keeping cozy and warm. It is in the 30's. I know, that's nothing to you...but here in Florida that's something to talk about! LOL.

    1. I should have said "they MIGHT just have a surprise..." My covid brain is not fully functioning. LOL. But you did get the message and I can see it made you think. That's what I intended. You are always very perceptive to pick up on these things. That's what I like about you! :) That, and many other things. So happy you are one of my "friends". Have a blessed day.

  7. Hi Pamela, sorry to hear you have been sick with I assume Covid. It sure is going around. Great that your health plan has been taking care of you. My son got it and still does not have his full taste back. For some reason your pictures are not showing up from the previous post. I love that hymn, This is My Father's House. Well feel better!♥

    1. I'm wondering which pictures you are speaking of? The ones of the geese or the fungi? I don't know. They seem fine here. Maybe refresh your screen and try again. I am sorry your son was sick and still does not have his full taste back. We have lost a portion of our sense of taste, but not completely. I can taste salty things. Something I read said if you lose your sense of taste, eat some blueberries, watermelon and/or grapes. Now If I could just find some fresh ones here, that would be nice. I hope you all stay well. Thank you for visiting.

  8. So, so glad you all are continuing to mend, Pam! Sorry about missing church, but we have yet to go back in person ourselves. I will be watching/listening to Pastor Bill today on YouTube around 10:00 as Covid has them only doing one service per Sunday with no congregants. :( The Lord knows what we are going through, and will see us through it all.
I'll be sure to check out Miss Lily Grace!
    Blessings!

    1. I am so glad you are up and about and on the mend, but yes, I am sure with the way the weather has been, in addition to your recent illness, you'd be better off to stay away from the crowds for a while longer. It is cold here today and kind of cloudy and drear, so I'm just as glad we are staying home. But I'm getting antsy and hope to get out of the house sometime soon this week. I must be getting well! Praise God. Yes, He understands our plight and our needs, and He will carry us through. Amen.

    1. Yes, this bug takes its sweet time working its way through. We are on our 2nd week now. Hopefully by mid week we can get out and about and do some grocery shopping. We are very thankful that it hasn't been worse. And yes, the amaryllis is getting ready to pop open again any day now. I'll be sure to take pictures. Have a blessed rest of your week.

    1. Thank you Linda. Lily Grace sends her love to you, and she can't wait to meet you in person. Yes, we are trying to feel better each day. So very thankful it wasn't worse, but still it's been keeping us close to our recliners and bed for lots of naps. LOL.

    1. Thank you, Terri. Yes, we caught it or it caught us, but we are doing our best to shake it off as quickly as possible. We are very thankful that it was not the full dose. Yes, I am looking forward to the amaryllis blooming in the next few days. It is getting ready to open right up. I hope you are doing well. I still haven't had any fresh strawberries. I hope you don't eat them all up before I can get out and get some. LOL. Take care my friend. Love you too.

  12. I am glad y'all are doing better and fortunate to have just the light case. Friday and Saturday were our really cold days. I think we are going to get another blast next weekend. Hopefully after that it will be just a more normal cool and not wintery cold. I am sure our friends to the north just roll their eyes at us.

    1. Yes, our northern friends think we are a bunch of wimps, but they just don't understand how cold it feels to us with our thinner blood and the dampness of the more humid air...at least that's my excuse! LOL. Yes, we are getting better day by day and are very very thankful to God. We know it could have been so much worse. Hope you and your family stay safe and warm and healthy!!

  13. Pam, Your plant is stunning! I appreciate those, like you, who can keep plants alive, sadly, plants come to me to die. :(

I'm sorry to hear that you and your husband have been down with the virus. Praying that you continue on the path to full healing.

    Love and blessings!

Our little church has taken a hard hit this past week, but thankfully no one is very seriously ill...just fighting this nasty virus and praying it goes away soon. Oh, and Lily Grace says thank you!! She's had a wonderful birthday! We do have fun here. Makes the time pass more quickly! Blessings to you my friend. xoxoxoxo

    1. Yes, we had a hard freeze of 26 in the morning, but it did warm up a bit and that was nice. We finally got outside today and took a walk this morning, in between rain showers. It was nice to get out. Today was a bit warmer. We are taking it easy. Our bodies won't let us do too much!! But we are very thankful to be better.

  17. Get to feeling better. I seem to be locked in my sinus and had some Vertigo. We are getting some snow and I took the shovel and cleared a path. Not much good, still snowing til 10 A.M. so they say. Thanks for visiting me. If you go here annesphamily.blogspot.com I added one of my American Girl dolls Mia . She is dressed for Valentine's Day. Some of the dolls are historical ones so their clothing is long skirts and boots. I really need to find some shoes. So they can all be properly dressed for different occasions. I sure love my dolls. I came back inside and had my kettle on so I made a cup of Chamomille Citrus tea with honey. I am watching a few minutes of Tom & Jerry before I get my shower and finishing my cup of tea. It is a cold day and I understand most everywhere has been hit with lower temps. Take care and move slowly. We often learn the hard way trying to do too much too soon. HUGS & PRAYERS & LOVE to you and yours.

    1. Yes, you are right about trying to do too much too soon. I am taking it easy, one day at a time, and letting my body heal. My sinuses are also kind of "locked in", but so far no vertigo. I hope you are feeling better. I saw your pretty Mia with her Valentine's day dress. So sweet. It is fun to dress dolls and enjoy them in each season. I don't think we are ever too old for that. Your chamomile citrus tea sounds good....and Tom and Jerry? I haven't seen them in ages. Perhaps I should look them up for a good laugh. I hope you are doing well and staying warm and cozy. Thank you for visiting.
