Tuesday Four: Weather or Not

Weather or Not

Welcome Friends! We offer four questions each week for you to answer. It gives you something to blog about, a chance to learn about others and make new blogging friends. We keep it going in memory and honor of our dear friend Toni Taddeo, it's original author.

Weather or Not...

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit”
Jeremiah 17:7-8

1. What kind of weather pleases you the most?
I love it when it begins to get a little cooler, definitely more fall like weather. No humidity, but sunny and breezy.  Here in Florida we have to wait until late September , early October to begin to feel a definite change in the weather for the good.

2. Do rainy days bother you or do you find them a time to relax and take it easy? I love a rainy day, and often just enjoy spending time either baking or reading or writing...relaxing and watching and listening to the rain on the roof.

Watching the birds wading in the pond, with the raindrops falling all around, making little ripples and circles in the water, can be very entertaining.

This is a "Little Blue Heron" enjoying a rainy day in the pond.

Any puddle jumping in your life?  Yes, if there are puddles to jump without me making a fool of myself by falling in, then I like to jump...

3. Do you have meals you enjoy in certain kinds of weather or certain seasons? Please share with us?
When the weather gets cooler I like to make home made soups and stews, (hubby calls them one-pot meals.

I also like to bake cookies or bread and make the house smell inviting and cozy.

4.As the prophet Jeremiah tells us,  It is a good idea to bloom where you are planted.

Do you think Jeremiah meant like this?

How do you handle stormy weather and does a day need to be sunny for you to enjoy it? Why not give us hints on enjoying any kind of weather.
Whether there are stormy skies or beautiful sunsets...

Or wonderful full moons in addition to our lovely sunny days, there is always something to enjoy no matter what the weather. Obviously, for me, my camera is something that has been a blessing to me to be able to capture the beauty of the world around me no matter what the weather. We just have to open our eyes and look at what God has provided for us.

Thanks for joining in. I know Toni would be thrilled to see you all here.

Now please go visit our other friends over at Tuesday Four,  And Thank you to Annie at Cottage By The Sea for being our hostess!

  1. The weather that pleases me most is a slightly chilly, sunny day with blue skies and bit of cloud. Perfect for walking or sitting at a coffee shop (pre Covid 19 days) and enjoy a coffee and a good book. I do love a good, rainy day and a day or two of rain every week doesn't bother me. What bothers me is when it is gray and raining every day for weeks (it happens where I live in winter months). Like you I enjoy a good warming stew of thick soup on rainy days or winter days. So comforting.

I enjoyed all your photos and the drawing at the top is so cute.

    1. Thank you, Penny. Yes, slightly chilly, sunny days with blue skies...perfect for taking brisk walks and enjoying being outside or shopping/coffee shop with a friend. Thank you for visiting today. The drawing was provided by our friend Annie. Not sure where she found it, but I love it too. Have a blessed day!

  2. Fun post. I love rainy storm days.... but I'm equally happy with sunshine. I guess any day that finds me breathing is a good day in my book. Ha! Have a blessed and enjoyable week.

    1. That is true...we need to count our blessings...and breathing is a blessing in this time of Covid 19. We thank the Lord for every day of good health. Praying your day is filled with blessings too.

    1. Yes, we have to be patient and wait on those cooler days, but they will come, and I always say to my friends up north..."When you've got it bad, we've got it good!" Hope your day/week is blessed too.

  5. I believe all the days would be sunny with you around, Pam! You have such a wonderful attitude and outlook on life. I love that picture of you in the kayak...so cute! And the soup looks delicious. I'll just be over here mumbling "no carbs, no carbs."

    1. Thank you, Stacy! What a sweet thing to say! I do have my "dark days" like everyone else, but thankfully God always has ways to pull me up and out of it before it gets "dangerous" for me or others around me. Praise God. The "soup" is Hobo Stew, and very healthy. Ground beef, onions, bacon is optional, cabbage, potatoes, carrots and a can of diced tomatoes, enough water to cover it all, and let it simmer until all done. Serve with fresh hot cornbread. I guess you could leave out the potatoes to make it less "carby", and no cornbread. It's a favorite meal here at our house. I learned to make it in Girl Scouts, and we'd cook it in a tin coffee can over a fire. Yummy.

  6. I love days that are cool, dry and sunny, Pamela, but rainy days are perfect for curling up with a good book or baking something delightful. Love your photos!
    Blessings!

    1. Yes, we look forward to those cool, dry, sunny days of fall...but yes, we DO enjoy those days that we can just "curl up with a good book". It's still too hot here to bake, even on cloudy days, but fall is coming!!

  8. Don't you look so cool! And a lot better way to get exercise than walking right now. I am stuck in the house for a few days...for obvious reasons! Love that Little Blue! He's one of our favs. Enjoy your day!

    1. Yes, it has really been too hot to be outside for very long, especially with the humidity and the high heat index. We do still take our early morning walk and after supper walks, waiting until the sun dips behind the trees a bit to give us some shade. Praying we can make it through Aug. and Sept. w/o any major hurricanes/storms, and then we will be smooth sailing for about six months until the heat returns. Enjoy your day too!

  9. It is late September or October before it cools down here in Missouri too, but I mean it goes from hot to cold. I would love a full season of a comfortable fall and Spring. It seems like we had a not bad Spring. I was outside a lot because of covid and I was home from school. I would sit in my gazebo and read all day long. Those are my perfect days...the mosquitoes had not come yet either. Love your answers! Have a nice Tuesday!

    1. One good thing here is our "fall" lasts all winter! LOL. We do get some pretty cold weather in January, but it doesn't last long. Never any snow. But our summers are long and hot. We thank the Lord for air conditioning! Sitting in a gazebo and reading all day sounds heavenly! Yes, I like those spring days before the bugs come out in full force too. Hope your week is blessed!

  10. Pam, your photos are so good! It's hard to choose a favorite, but I'll narrow it down to the two of the Blue Heron in the rain. That is so fun! and I like the one with the moon, too. The moon was shining down over your pond!

As for weather, I like weather changes and there are fun things to do in all of them. But like you, I could use some of those 75-degree days with less humidity and a breeze.

The thunderstorms we're having of late (even as I type this comment!!) have been very exciting. I do enjoy watching them.

    1. We are having storms this afternoon also. Already had one, and it looks like it is getting ready to storm again. We are probably a little behind you in getting the storms, since you are farther south/west than we are. But we need the rain. The pond was starting to recede, and now it is happy again!

  11. I honestly love fall weather. But here is Florida as you know, seems we have more hot and warm weather. But when there is a crisp in the air I sure love it. I start hankering for boots about late October and I never turn down a chance to have a bonfire no matter what the weather is. I love soups all year round but sure do enjoy me a pot of chili when it's colder. I actually like to cozy up with a bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. LOL! Talk about some rain...girl I got 3 inches Sunday night with some high winds. Didn't bother me til my tv went out and I couldn't finish my movie! LOL! High winds makes Marty really nervous so needless to say he paced the floors til it calmed down. I tend to be fascinated by it. I know, strange huh? LOL! But on rainy days my favorite thing to do is bake and watch old movies. Hope your week is going good dear Pam. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. I am hoping we can do some kind of fire pit this fall/winter. We never got around to it last year because we were still just "settling in" here. But I hope to do more outside stuff this fall. Oh yes, tomato soup and grilled cheese are one of our favorites too. And chili...yep...sounds good. We are getting ready to have another thunderstorm here any minute now, so I'll say bye for now.

  12. Very interesting. I do enjoy a rainy day. I get energized with cooler weather. Spring and fall would be my favorites.i also happen to enjoy a good thunderstorm, at least during the day.

    1. Yes, I am a fall girl first, then spring, and then, well, winter, which is more like fall here. Not crazy about hot summer. We are having thunderstorms every afternoon pretty much right now. Typical summer weather. Take care and God bless!!

  13. I always spent a few weeks with my dad in the summer. This is the first year I didn't because he passed away but even so I wouldn't have traveled there anyway. The humidity can be very hard to handle. I grew up in Chicago and we of course had humidity in the summer. Living in CA has been very nice. Your photos are lovely.

    1. Thank you, Debby. And welcome to my blog! I don't believe we've met before, and I am always happy to make new friends! I am very sorry for the passing of your Dad. I understand how hard that is. My Dad has been gone since 2011 and I still miss him very much. Yes, humidity is not our friend, but I guess it is something that comes with summer in most places. Maybe not in California? Interesting! Thank you for visiting, and now I must go visit you! Please come again!

  14. Beautiful post, Pam. I prefer cooler weather over heat and humidity any day. In fact, I think winter is my favorite season (I say this quietly due to backlash from others).

    Love and blessings!

    1. Ha Ha! I like your "quietly due to backlash from others" comment. I can imagine many are not that fond of winter. I liked it for about a month. Once Christmas and New Year's was over, I was tired of it and ready for spring. We lived in New England, and winter was just too long!! But then again, I was a southern transplant. Thank you for visiting! Always wonderful to hear from you.

    1. Yes, we do love us some good chili in football season, which I don't know that we will have much of this year. My hubby can eat a cheeseburger anytime. I prefer salads. Thanks for visiting today!

    1. Thank you, Terri. I haven't actually been out on the pond too much lately. It has been too hot too early to get out there, and the lilies are so thick I can't paddle through them. I hope they will die back some when the weather gets cooler, then I can get out there again. I miss it. Thank you for visiting today. Have a blessed week.

  17. If it could be autumn year round I would be a very happy camper!
I lived in Miami for a bit (summer) with my mother in law at her house. I was 21 so the weather didn't bother me but it was seriously sauna like humidity especially at night. She lived on a lagoon so, there were alligators, crocks, and I found that a problem. But she had night blooming jasmine all around the house that was lovely and the tall royal palms out front.

    1. Yes, I could be a "happy camper" too if it was autumn year round. Although I do love spring flowers. Yes, the alligators & crocks would be a bit much for me too. I am thankful we don't have any alligators here in our little pond. We are not quite as humid here as Miami, being much further north in the state. We actually get a little bit more of a fall like atmosphere starting in October through March. My favorite time here. Hope you are feeling better!

  19. Hi there Pam, wow, these are some gorgeous pictures, love them!--the water, the birds, the moon, the sky--all so pretty. That one of you sitting in the boat with the flower is so CUTE!!- love it! I haven't commented for a few days, but I've not caught up, I think. I LOVED YOUR POST about your teapots, oh my goodness- you have a beautiful collection and I loved hearing all the stories and the history of them. I collect teapots too, but I don't have nearly as many as you! I'm out of room, don't buy any more unless it's just an incredibly unique/beautiful one or it reminds me of sweet memories. Loved all the tea pot pictures. Oh my gosh!--I was so excited to see your Barbie doll---she looks like my Tansy! Not sure if you've met my Tansy yet, LOL---she is often on my blog. Tansy is 61 now, LOL. Fun seeing all those shark teeth too....we collected bottles of those from the beaches when we were kids, Those teeth were like treasures and highly sought after, LOL. Hope you're doing well--it's hot and humid here and I'm ready for some cooler weather, how bout you? take care!
