I Know What You Are Going To Say...

I know what you are going to  say..."I thought you were supposed to be downsizing???"

Yes, I know...I am...but...but...but...something happened to me today...I digressed...I mean, when you see what I did you will surely understand....What little girl (inside a Big Old Girl) can resist a
DOLL HOUSE?  Especially when said dollhouse is at a yard sale alongside the road not far from your house, just begging for you to come and take a look...and when the price is extremely cheap...and it doesn't need too much work to fix it up...and even your hubby says "I think you ought to get it for yourself.." (when my first intention was to get it and give it to someone else so I wouldn't feel guilty about buying it for myself...)  Oh, Lord, forgive me...I know it is Lent...but, well, Father, I am sorry...I could not pass it up...the little child in me just needed to be a little child again...

And so it came home with me...

And when I brought it home and into the house, suddenly all these little people just started clamoring to get inside this new house and check it out...

One little boy was so happy that he knelt right down and prayed and said "Thank You, Lord, for my new home!"

All the little girls checked out all the rooms and windows, each looking for her own special space in the house...
And the sweet little Mother stood on the front porch and said, "Oh my, such a lovely new house! Won't you come inside and have tea with me?"

This sweet little girl was all dressed up for the party...even has a tiara in her hair...and she is anxiously watching at the window for all of the guests to arrive!

There's a lot of excitement going on inside the house in preparation for all the guests.

Even this sweet little girl is up in the attic, watching the street below for the visitors to arrive!

Oh, this little sweetheart is also watching from the bay window, hoping you are coming to the party...

And upstairs in her bedroom is a lovely young lady, trying on her hat and getting herself all pretty, while her little teddy bear watches with awe...

There's that little boy, praying by his bedside again...I think he's very thankful for his new home...or maybe he's praying because he appears to be the only boy in the household of quite a few girls!!

Upstairs...

And downstairs...everyone is excited and getting ready for the tea party...

And Finally, everyone is here!!!  So glad you could come too!!!

We look forward to many more happy occasions together in our new house!! Yes, we still need to hang some curtains  and maybe get a little bit of furniture and pictures on the walls...but that will come in time.  Right now we just want to settle in for the night and enjoy our new home!!
So Good Night!  Thank you again for coming!  Y'all come back now, you hear??

  1. Oh Pam, I can see how you could not resist this 'new home' purchase!!! I have a little history with dollhouses (about 30 years ago) but my Sister is the real doll house person. She even wrote an article for Nutshell News (a magazine about miniatures no longer in publication). Your people are perfect for the house. I love how you wrote about them.

    1. Thank you, Barbara, for understanding. We really must be "kindred spirits"...I should have known you would be a "dollhouse person", and your sister as well. Perhaps I just needed this dollhouse to play with since it doesn't seem that we will be getting a "new house" any time soon to play with, since our house doesn't seem to be selling. It won't be long before YOU will be "playing house" in your new house, and you will have such fun!!! So happy for you. I'll just be pretending as I look for ways to decorate my little dollhouse w/o spending a lot of money. I must get very creative!! BTW, thank you for visiting. I know you are busy busy getting ready to move. Closing must be coming right up!!! So exciting. I saw the pictures on FB. Love your new house!!! God bless you, dear friend.

  2. You needed to buy this dollhouse, it is darling, and I love the girl trying on hats and the little boy who is praying.

    1. Thank you, Terra, for understanding. I guess there are more "kindred spirits" out there than I realized. I think because I never had any little girls (3 wonderful boys instead), and no granddaughters either...I feel like I was cheated out of being able to play with little girl things. So, maybe I am in my 2nd childhood. Yes, I love the little boy praying too. He is a Norman Rockwell inspired figurine. And the little girl with the hats was another of those spontaneous purchases, found at a thrift store for $2.00, and she captured my heart! Thank you for visiting and enjoying my dollhouse with me. I guess it is okay to be like children again after all!!

    1. Thank you, Martha. It has been a fun day...I discovered that this house is a true "fixer upper", and I've been making some needed repairs all day, but that is half the fun. I'm trying to not spend any money on it, so it will be a very creative effort to make this house a home! I needed something to give me a distraction from the fact that we haven't sold our real house yet...

  4. Pam: I understand. This doll house is precious. You have gift for storytelling. I love the children in the different parts of the house. God must have wanted you to have this. Peace and blessings.

    1. I think this must bring out the child in each of us. Perhaps that isn't such a bad thing after all. Sometimes we just need a fun distraction from real life. Thank you for loving it with me! Have a blessed day.

  6. Of course you had to get that precious doll house! No apologies necessary. You were right there at the right time and it was supposed to become yours! Beautiful.

    1. I am practicing my "fixer upper" skills on this little house...doing some demolition and reconstruction, and decorating on a very tight budget. Practicing for our next real house! LOL. Thank you for enjoying this with me. I think we are all little girls at heart...

  7. OMG! I would not have passed it up either! It looks larger than I first thought until you put the little people in it! I love it too! I think about Mom and remember how badly she wanted a dollhouse! She even had several pieces of furniture ready!

    1. Oh, I wish we had saved her little furniture!!! You don't have it, do you? I knew you would love it...I thought of you when I saw it, but hubby insisted it was meant for me...and now that I am realizing what a "fixer upper" it is, I'm glad I didn't try to make it a gift...it needed a lot of re-gluing, etc., but I am having fun in the process. It's good therapy while I wait to find our real next "fixer upper". LOL. I can't wait for you to come see it. We can play with it together...

    1. I'm happy to know there are so many "kindred spirits" out there that are still little girls in women's bodies...Thank you for understanding! May your day be blessed as well. This time change thing has me up and at'em!

  9. Oh Pam, what a sweet little doll house and narrative to provide more details. We all need to find our inner child and let said child out to play more often. It seems we grow old when we don't play!

    Blessings!

    1. I so agree with that comment, "it seems we grow old when we don't play!" I think we all need to let that inner child out now and then and just be free to be childlike in every way...especially in our faithwalk with the Lord!! Thank you for enjoying this with me.

  10. Wow! Finally I am able to make a comment here. I don’t know what changed. Anyway, I love your dollhouse. You certainly know how to tell a tale. I always wanted a dollhouse growing up, but I don’t know if our house was too small for one or if they were too expensive. I just don’t know. But I do know I bought three dollhouses for Kate and now they are all here at my house because they didn’t have room at their house and Kate didn’t want to let them go. So I finally have my dollhouse, but certainly not any with the character yours has. Enjoy!

    1. Well, maybe as you and Kate work on them together, you will be able to add more character as she "matures". Of course, they lose interest at a certain age, but then, maybe you can take over and surprise her with a more "mature" doll house! I hope you can have some fun with it either way. Mine is going to be just whatever happens to make me smile. It may change every day! LOL But I am having fun with it and that seems to be a good thing for me right now. God knew what I needed. Thank you for playing along with me!
