Listening to the Fairies Sing...and Other Friday Fotos

How many of you remember singing this little song as a child?  Did you sing it as a round?
Listen and sing along to this sweet little song...

White coral bells upon a silver stalk
Lilies of the valley deck my garden walk
Oh don’t you wish that you could hear them ring?
That will only happen when the fairies sing!

Today (writing this on Thursday evening) I spent a little time sitting in the Secret Garden.  It has been a difficult week in some ways...or maybe I am just a bit tired and frustrated with things not happening when I want them to happen, and I needed to spend some time alone with the Lord and have a bit of an "attitude adjustment".  The Secret Garden seems to have that "magical" effect on me...not really magic, but a place where the Lord and I meet and I listen, and He speaks... And as I sit there listening to the birds singing and seeing the beauty of the garden, I can relax and calm down and hear His voice...no, it isn't the "fairies" singing...but maybe it's God's sweet little angels?

These aren't "white coral bells upon a slender stalk", but they are sweet little wildflowers that were growing in the Secret Garden, and I call this my "Fairy Bouquet"...

It was this time last year that I also enjoyed  picking these lovely little miniature flowers in the Secret Garden, and I wrote about it HERE (In one of our friend Toni's Creative Adventures!)

As I sat there in the garden, I was reminded again to "Be Still and Know that I AM God" (Psalm 46:10)

And as I wandered around the garden, I discovered these sweet little wild blackberry blossoms:
 So maybe I will let them grow and have some fresh wild blackberries this summer...(IF we are still living in this house...)

This is one of the many azalea plants that I planted last year in the Secret Garden.  Funny that this particular one has both pink and white blossoms on the same bush!

After spending time in the Secret Garden with the Lord, I brought my little "Fairy Bouquet" inside and put it on the windowsill above the sink so I can enjoy it a little longer. Most of the little flowers close up at night, but there may be some that will reopen in the morning.  It just makes me smile and has helped me to feel comforted that all is well...God is still in control of my life and He is working all things together for my good...I just need to relax and rest in Him and let Him do His work as planned.

After supper hubby and I took a walk to the neighborhood pond, and guess who we saw there?

Yes, we discovered the Sand Hill Crane FAMILY!!!!!!

I did not know that Mr. and Mrs. Sand Hill Crane have already given birth to not one, but TWO new baby "colts" (that's what they call them)!!!!  I guess I haven't been paying much attention...these just took me totally by surprise!!

I was thinking this must be way earlier than last year's babies...

But I just checked my posts from last year and apparently they are right on schedule!! Amazing!!! So life does go on and on...the rhythm of seasons and times continues on year after year, with or without my  help!! However, it is always with God's help!  He has this world in control, in spite of what man may do to try and mess things up.

Ecclesiastes 3  (NKJV)
Everything Has Its Time

"1. To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

2. A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
3. A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
4. A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
5. A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
6. A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
7. A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
8. A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.
The God-Given Task

9. What profit has the worker from that in which he labors?
10. I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied.
11. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

12. I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, 13. and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God.

14. I know that whatever God does,
It shall be forever.
Nothing can be added to it,
And nothing taken from it.
God does it, that men should fear before Him.
15. That which is has already been,
And what is to be has already been;
And God requires an account of what is past."

I hope that you have enjoyed this time spent in the Secret Garden with me today...as well as the walk to the pond to make some new exciting discoveries.  This has truly helped my spirits to feel better and to know that God is working behind the scenes for my benefit all the time.
Praise God!

Even though we are not officially joining together for "Friday Foto Friends" right now...I hope that many of you will also be sharing your special photos from the week so that we can stay in touch with where you've been and what you've been doing!! Have a blessed weekend everyone!!!

  3. We all need to retreat to our "secret garden" for time spent quietly with the Lord. Of course, as I've said many times before, I adore your special place, Pam, and do hope you will find such a spot when you move. Thanks for the lovely photos and the sand hill crane update. Those babies are so cute! Blessings!

    1. Thank you, Martha...I also hope that wherever we go we will have special places to be alone with the Lord. That is kind of a priority for me when searching. Yes, I was so surprised to find the baby cranes already! I wasn't paying attention and they slipped in on me!! Have a great and wonderful weekend. Thinking of you and your family.

  4. Pam, one thing that I have found to be such a great comfort is a quote I read somewhere and I don't remember who said it, but it is this, "just because we can't see physical evidence of those things we've asked God to take care of, it does not mean that He isn't working." I enjoyed your post, and the pictures you've shared.

    2. Yes, that IS very encouraging, Dianna. Thank you for sharing it. I do know that God is working behind the scenes, and when the time is right, He will unveil His perfect plan for us. I just am one of those people who like to peek at the surprises ahead of time so I know what's coming! LOL. Thank you...I know God is working, and I am trusting Him to do exactly what is best.

    1. Yes, indeed...man does try to mess things up quite a bit, but God is in control. He can UNDO whatever man tries to do, and He can create what man never even thought of. So I know we are in the best Hands ever...God's hands...

  7. Pam: From time to time, I find myself singing "White Coral Bells." It reminds me of a simpler time in my life, my childhood. I enjoyed seeing the flowers in your garden. The Sand Hill Cranes are always beautiful to see. Peace and blessings

  8. SUCH A BEAUTIFUL POST, Pam! And yes, I remember the little song. So very sweet. You are very blessed to have so many aspect of nature so close and private to your home. We have a measure of that here and will have less of it (or better phrased, a different design of it) in our next home. I'm saving the link to this particular post of yours so I can come back to it in the future when I need that quiet time in the garden with our Lord.
