Traveling Through My Week So Far

These people riding on horses in the sky caught my eye the other day as we took a ride...
 I saw several different people riding by...how about you?  I love watching clouds...

Here it is Wednesday already...this week , like these clouds above, seems to be flying by right before my eyes!  First of all, let me say thank you to all of you who have been praying for our pastor and our church this week.  Your thoughtful words and heartfelt prayers have truly meant a lot to all of us.  By way of an update, the only news I have is that our pastor is at home, resting and recuperating. The tests seemed to be inconclusive at this time, and I'm not sure exactly what the diagnosis is, however he is still weak and unable to be out and about. Therefore, your continued prayers are very much appreciated.  On a personal note, I would also like to request prayer for my husband, who will be filling the pulpit this Sunday in our pastor's absence.  He is happy to be able to minister in this capacity, but it has been awhile since he's done much preaching, so prayers are always appreciated. May the Lord be glorified in all that is said and done. Amen.

On another note, our Friday Foto Friends group will not be gathering each week as before over at our friend Deb's Place  at Breathing in Grace.  Debbie needs to take a little break due to pressing family needs, which we all understand.  I don't know if any of our group will take up the mantle and be the hostess for this group. I haven't heard if anyone is...and I don't feel like I can be dependable enough right now to take that on, so I guess we are on our own to do our own thing with photos.  Since that is a large part of my blogging, I will continue to post pictures from around my world as often as I can. I hope others will also continue to do that.  I just noticed as I was scrolling through my blog friends' list that I am a bit behind in reading everyone's posts since last Friday...can this week have already gotten so far away from me? I apologize friends...it's just been a bit busy.

Saturday we celebrated my hubby's birthday with a gathering of friends and family here at our house.
 The Birthday Boy...Yes...He had to wear the ceremonial birthday hat when he blew out his candles...it's a family tradition!

As most of you know, we are also trying to sell our house. Well, about an hour before my guests were to arrive for lunch, I received a phone call from our realtor asking if they could show the house at 12:30.  I thought to myself, "Where have you been all these weeks when I had nothing going on?"  But I cheerfully said, "Well, of course! Just so they don't mind that there will be a large group of people here at that time sitting down to dinner!  The more the merrier!"

 Our family and friends gathered together

So, just as the family sat down at the table to eat, the realtor and prospective buyers drove into the driveway. I went out and greeted them, invited them to join us for lunch, (which they declined), and got them started on their tour of the house and grounds.  After showing them around and answering their questions, they piled back into their vehicles and took off, and I rejoined our group and finally sat down to eat.  We haven't heard a word from them or the realtor since...so I guess we didn't make that great of an impression.  Maybe they don't like crowds.  Oh well.  When the time is right, the right people will show up and love this house...and everything about it!! Until then, we will keep carrying on and enjoying doing what we do here...which is called, living.

Speaking of living and birthdays...last night we celebrated the 90th birthday of one of our dear choir members at church... Here's Earl, surprised and happy that so many showed up to celebrate his birthday!

Such a beautiful and delicious cake!!  Sadly, Earl is getting ready to move back up north soon, to be with his family as he is pretty much alone down here, except for his church family.  90 years old is a time when one really should be closer to loved ones, don't you agree?  He's sad about leaving, but I think he realizes it is for the best.  We will miss him.

Speaking of family, this morning we took a little ride up to our son and daughter in law's house. My son wanted me to see how beautifully their flowers are growing in their yard!  This is a high-fragrance camellia...the bush was just loaded with beautiful, fragrant blooms! They reminded me of peonies.

 This is the bush...still a small bush, but just loaded with beauty!

This is one of the rose bushes my son bought for his lovely wife for Valentine's day...

And this is the other one.  Her name is Rose, and she loves roses, so giving her rosebushes makes wonderful sense to me!! Why buy cut roses that will only die in a day or two, when you can grow your own beautiful roses that will bloom many times for years to come?

And this was really special...they have a lovely navel orange tree, and it is loaded with blossoms! I wish you could smell these flowers!  Wow!! They were so pretty and fragrant!!

Okay folks, I guess that is all for now.

Here's a few words of praise from Psalm 116, which we read this morning in our time of devotions:

1.  "I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my supplications.
2.  Because He has inclined His ear to me,
therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.
3.  The pains of death surrounded me,
and the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me;
I found trouble and sorrow.
4.  Then I called upon the name of the Lord:
"O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!"
5.  Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
Yes, our God is merciful.
6.  The Lord preserves the simple;
I was brought low, and He saved me.
7.  Return to your rest, O my soul,
for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
8.  For You have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
and my feet from falling.
9.  I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

16.  O Lord, truly I am Your servant;
I am Your servant, the (daughter) son of Your maidservant;
You have loosed my bonds.
17.  I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and will call upon the name of the Lord.
18.  I will pay my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all His people,
19.  In the courts of the Lord's house,
In the midst of you,
O Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!"

Have a blessed week, my friends!!

  1. Pam, thank you for the update that your pastor is home and recuperating. I will continue to remember him in my prayers. I will also be praying for your hubby as he prepares for Sunday's message. Our son-in-law does pulpit supply for their pastor when he isn't able to be there. Happy birthday to your husband! I find that realtors anymore are so inconsiderate when it comes to getting back with the seller. Such a shame. I love your outlook though! And I enjoyed the tour of your son and daughter-in-law's flowers. :) Such beautiful roses and the Camellia is just gorgeous...it really does look like a peony. Thanks so much for sharing your week so far with us.

    1. Thank you, Dianna, for your prayers and kind thoughts. We all appreciate it. I'm trusting the Lord for our Pastor's health to be restored. We are thankful to be in a position to help whenever needed. As for our house, we are truly having to learn patience in this endeavor. We know that God is in control of the timing...since we haven't been able to find a house to move to yet, we know that God is working things out for our benefit. I just have to remind myself of that frequently! Meanwhile, yes, spring is springing up all around us and we are enjoying the beauty that is shining forth for us. God is good. God bless you my friend, and thank you for visiting today.

    1. Thank you, Betty. Yes, I love this Psalm...as I do love most of the Psalms. The Psalmist seems to be very much like we are...dealing with the same kinds of hurt, pain, joys, praises...I always feel like he's read my mind when he wrote those Psalms. So thankful for God's Word to carry us through good times and sad. Have a blessed day my friend.

  3. The Psalms always speak to me!! Great photos and I too will miss Deb's meme on Fridays. I think if we all just continue to post Friday photos, whether we link up or not. The roses are gorgeous and the orange blossoms do smell wonderful! Your house will sell. It is a great home and seeing so many people gathered there should have been a great selling point!

    1. Yes, I hope everyone will keep posting photos on Fridays. I always look forward to seeing what everyone else has been seeing! Thank you for your kind words...I know our house will sell in God's good time. I just wish His time agreed with MY time sometimes! LOL. but I know He knows best. So I will try to be a good girl and be patient a while longer. I thought the fact that this house is a great gathering place for family and friends would be a good selling factor too, but you never know what people are looking for. That's okay. The right people will come at the right time. Have a blessed and good day. Praying for you both.

  4. Oh yes indeed, the Lord has dealt bountifully with us! I have been remiss in reading except sporadically and now I’m sorry to see this news about your pastor. How special that your husband will be filling in for him. I like finding the shapes in the clouds, too. The flowers are gorgeous and your pictures make me long for spring and all the flowers 🌺 I know it seems it takes forever to sell a house and the lookers seem to come at the wrong time. But it will sell.
    I will miss the Friday Foto Friends. I am not faithful enough at blogging to make a commitment like Deb and Terri. I am really enjoying the Wednesday Medley because I can blog at least weekly.
    I look forward to reading the sermon notes from your husband’s message this Sunday. 😊

    1. Thank you, Nonnie. Yes, God has dealt bountifully with us, and we are glad. Even when things are going a bit rough, we know that God is with us, and He never leaves us nor forsakes us. Yes, we know our house will sell in God's good time...I just would like to get on with the program! But God knows best. The house we are meant to have in our new destination apparently is not ready for us yet, so therefore our house has not sold. I will just be patient......
      We can still all do the Friday Foto Friends on our own...I really look forward to visiting with everyone and seeing what they have been seeing. We are a wonderful little group of friends, and I love "getting together". Have a blessed day my friend.

  5. I can't imagine a real estate agent not calling before they bring clients to your home! That's just crazy.
    I hope your pastor is much better tonight.
    Enjoyed seeing your son and daughter in laws flowers. No flowers for us yet of course, just snow this morning and some rain tonight. Still cold and wintry.
    I know you will find the right buyers. Any homes on your radar in the new town yet?

    1. Thank you, Ann. In defense of the real estate agent, she DID call before coming, about an hour before. On a normal day that probably wouldn't have been a problem, but when you are in the middle of preparing a meal for guests, it kind of became a panic time for me...but then again, I had already cleaned the bathrooms and had taken care of necessities because our company was coming, so it really didn't matter. However, I would appreciate hearing back from them afterwards with some kind of feedback. They never seem to do that, and I think that is rude. Oh well...it is all in God's hands. When HE is ready for us to move, it will happen. Right now we do NOT have any new homes on our radar screen. Every time something comes available that we like, it gets snapped up right away. We can't do anything until we have a contract on our house, so we just have to watch them come and go. But again, I do believe that the right house will be there for us when we are ready. Apparently that house just isn't available yet, so our house hasn't sold. I'm glad we are not sitting out in the cold trying to find a place to live. God has it perfectly timed...I'm just the one who is impatient. Meanwhile, flowers are starting to bloom here there and everywhere. I will enjoy them while they last and be thankful for each day. I hope spring will spring upon you soon.

  6. So sorry to hear about your pastor and will say a prayer for John. The church is blessed that he is there for this time. I did see the riders in the sky, just awesome. I love to look at the clouds, I think clouds are one of God's most beautiful creations. When the time comes, your new home is going to be the right home. In due time.....sending you a ((hug)) across the miles.

    1. Thank you for your prayers on behalf of our pastor and also for my hubby. We are thankful to be able to serve in any way the Lord asks. I'm glad you could see the riders in the sky...at least I know I'm not crazy! LOL. Yes, I love to see God's handiwork in the clouds all throughout the day. And to think, one day our Lord is going to descend from those very same clouds and come back and take us home to be with Him forever!! I guess that is why I keep my eyes on the clouds so much. We never know when that trumpet is going to sound... Thank you again.

  7. I am a cloud watcher too. It's amazing sometimes the pictures we can see in them! Happy Birthday to your dear hubby! I cannot believe that your realtor brought people into your house during a large gathering. I don't think that's how it's supposed to work! Enjoy the rest of your week!

    1. I'm glad to know I am not the only cloud watcher in the group!! It is fun to see all the different shapes and faces and things as they moved across the skies. Watching for Jesus to come through those clouds one of these days... Re: the realtor, etc....well, I am at a point where they can come at midnight if they will just buy this house!! LOL. It really wasn't a big deal. I had already cleaned the toilets...LOL. Have a blessed day and week.

  8. This is a lovely post, Pam. All the pictures are happy, cheerful, uplighting, even those horse riders in the sky!! Happy Birthday to John (and I even saw one of the little towels hanging on the lamp in the back ground. How cute!!

    You go, girl! Rolling with the request for a house showing during your party!! You just never know about these things and how they will turn out. Your home is warm, welcoming, and can accommodate a crowd of happy diners! That's just exactly what some people are looking for!

    Your attitude is great. Keep it up.

    Oh yes, and prayer for John as he prepares for Sunday. I'm glad he's been asked (I wondered if this would happen!).

    1. Thank you, Barbara, for your positive thoughts always. Glad you could also see the riders in the sky! More of God's handiwork in the heavens! I was hoping you would see the little tea towel...Room with a view at the window...the others are close by on the shelf that holds some of my tea pots/cups and books about tea times. I love them...and thank you for being so thoughtful! Thank you for saying my attitude is great...there are moments, however...that I hope you never see. LOL. Thank you again for the prayers. God bless you as you get closer and closer to the big day!!!! I know you are getting more excited...

  9. Did you say 90?? Wow. He looks great!

    I think your hubby should wear that birthday hat when he preaches. It will keep everyone's attention! :)

    (Not that he needs that to keep their attention... ha ha!)

    1. Oh gee, that would definitely be an attention getter! LOL. It would be funny, especially because the hat keeps slipping down over his nose making him look like a rhino or a unicorn. LOL. Yeah, I think we'll skip the hat and stick to the Bible to get their attention. LOL.
