The Awakening Chorus

The morning after 9/11, and I wake up singing this song..."Awakening Chorus" by Charlotte Homer and Charles Gabriel    This song gives me such hope and joy, knowing that there is no enemy who can destroy us completely.  Jehovah Reigns!!!
Please click on the video above and sing along with me:

1. Awake! awake! and sing the blessed story;

Awake! awake! and let your song of praise arise;
Awake! awake! the earth is full of glory,
And light is beaming from the radiant skies;

The rocks and rills, the vales and hills resound with gladness,
All nature joins to sing the triumph song.

Refrain:
The Lord Jehovah reigns and sin is backward hurled!
Rejoice! rejoice! lift heart and voice, Jehovah reigns!
Proclaim His sov’reign pow’r to all the world,
And let His glorious banner be unfurled!
Jehovah reigns! Rejoice! rejoice! rejoice! Jehovah reigns!

2. Ring out! ring out! O bells of joy and gladness;

Repeat, repeat anew the story o’er again,
Till all the earth shall lose its weight of sadness,
And shout anew the glorious refrain;
Ye angels in the heights, sing of the great Redeemer,

Who saves us from the pow’r of sin and death.

Refrain:
The Lord Jehovah reigns and sin is backward hurled!
Rejoice! rejoice! lift heart and voice, Jehovah reigns!
Proclaim His sov’reign pow’r to all the world,
And let His glorious banner be unfurled!
Jehovah reigns! Rejoice! rejoice! rejoice! Jehovah reigns!

Sing it from the housetops!
Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!
Jehovah Reigns!!

Sorry I was so late getting this posted. I wanted to post it early this morning, but it has been a busy day, and I wasn't able to sit down here and do it until now...but it has been reverberating in my head all day long and I had to do this. I hope you will understand the beauty and power of the message of this song, and if you've never heard it before, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have. We used to sing this song in our church where I grew up, and even in our youth group. It was always one that someone would select to sing when we had a "favorites" time.  I know it is a favorite in my family (my father loved it...and I know my sister loves it like I do.  Hope to sing it again someday with a group who really know how to sing it out!)

  1. Lovely post. I find it hard to post things early in the day. I have too much else to do usually, so my posts go up a bit later or the night before.
    I love the pink clouds and the other photos you posted. So pretty :)

    1. Thank you, Annie. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to write this first thing today, but yes, there was too much else going on. And I didn't want to wait and post it tomorrow morning because the impact was today...this is the message God gave me today, after a day of sadness yesterday. Praise God!

  2. I have not heard this song before. Awesome words! Reminds me of Isaiah 60. Arise, Shine! for thy light has come.

  3. What a lovely post, Pamela. What a wonderful song of remembrance. It is lovely. It is hard to believe that it has been 17 years since that happened. xo Diana

  11. Love the deer photos!

    Well, it is very calm and slightly rainy here. The power is flickering. We are at the outer edge of Hurricane Florence. It is mich better here than I expected, though I did see in the news that there is terrible flooding in the eastern part of the state.
