What Do You See Outside Your Open Window?

When I woke up this morning I looked outside my open window and this is what I saw...the glorious sun coming up through the trees...

Very bravely I took off running to the neighborhood pond to see the sun coming up over the water.

I was not disappointed in my early morning jaunt...

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)

22
"Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
    for His compassions never fail.
23
They are new every morning;

Great is Your faithfulness."

This was a beautiful way to start the day.  Following this time of prayerful meditation and rejoicing in the awesomeness of God displayed, my son and I headed out for his dental appointment to have his wisdom teeth extracted.  Everything went well...he'll be a little sore and looking like a chipmunk for a few days, but the deed is done and hopefully he will feel a lot better in the future!

So, dear friends, what do YOU see outside your open window?  I've had this question posted at the bottom of my blogger profile for all these years.  I don't know how many people have ever read it...or even if they have answered the question...but it is something to think about.  What DO you see when you look outside?  Do you see birds, trees, flowers, or perhaps you live in the city and you see other buildings, people, traffic...or maybe you live on a farm...and you see animals, cows, horses, dogs, cats?

I know one of our blogging friends sees a beautiful church building from her apartment window...another sees the bay of the ocean...some see mountains...perhaps others see a river or a lake?  Maybe you see glorious sunsets or sunrises? I sometimes see bears or deer...glad I didn't run into any of the bears this morning on my little jaunt. God was watching over me.

Whatever you see, I hope it causes you to pause and pray and thank the Lord for His mercy and goodness and beauty, whatever it may be.  Take a moment in the morning and look out your window...and let me know what you see, okay?  That should be fun!  Maybe that should be the theme for our Friday Foto Friends this week...just a thought.

Anyway, have a blessed and glorious day, evening, or whatever time it may be in your part of the country/world.  It's always so interesting to see and hear about your world.  God bless you every one!!

  1. Great question. When I look outside my bedroom window I see the bay of Green Bay. Right now it is covered with snow and under that-ice. I also see a the playhouse down along once fence and that is protected by wonderful old pines that are probably 60 or 70 years old. I see our summer dining table wearing a tablecloth of snow and tracks through our backyard where our younger son came across the bay and up to our backdoor on a snowmobile with his 5 year old son. We live about a mile (waterwise) from his house...3 miles on the road. It is a beautiful scene that always makes me smile. xo Diana

  3. When I look out my window I see trees, a shed, sky, and lots of birds. I loved all of the pictures you shared from your morning jaunt, Pam. Beauty like that makes being up early worthwhile, yes?

  4. I see my neighbor's horse running around. There used to be two. I secretly hope they will get alpacas. How adorable would that be?

Out back I see our pond and a giant oak tree.

Out front, my husband's grandma's house. She passed in 2014, his parents own the house now. Their house is next door and his sister's is next to that.

Yep, I am nestled within a Southern family. Who would have thought I would live in paradise?

    1. Wow! Sounds like you do live in a southern family "compound". That is a lot like where my husband grew up (remember the pink house of his grandparents?) His family lived in an upstairs apartment above his mother's beauty salon, which was behind his grandparents' home. His one aunt and uncle lived next door, and another aunt and uncle lived down the street. His paternal grandmother lived across the street for a little while until she died. Isn't that interesting how families do/did? I love that you have a neighbor's horse...I'm not crazy about alpacas, but to each his own. They spit. Or is that llamas? I love that you have a pond and giant oak. You must also post pictures soon.

  5. That pond is lovely and I am picturing you 'jaunting' to see the sunrise! Pam, we don't see anything really pretty outside our windows here in our new home. Sometimes I will catch a neighbor walking their dog, but we don't have much to see when we look out the windows...nothing like your beautiful views!

    1. Oh, but don't you just love the fact that you have those nice new neighbors walking their dogs...and some who have become good friends already? And I'll bet your neighbors are really friendly. That is something pleasant to see!! Good Morning!!

  6. First of all, I'm glad you slipped out this morning to get these wonderful photos. When I look out my windows by my favorite chair, I see wide open sky and one of the coves of our huge lake. I get to watch the lake through the seasons of rains and drought, which in the drought time always makes me aware of the precious value of water and not to waste it because the lake is our source of water here. There is also the corps of engineers property, which is nature preserve and no one can ever build there. Main reason being that is the flood area, too. I see wildlife and watch the hawk as it looks out for food. I see birds in flight together swooping down and back up. I have spotted deer, coyotes, bobcats, possums, armadillo and a skunk one day. I feel blessed that I just happen to look out and get to see things like a huge hawk sitting in our fence. During the summer, I see the most amazing sunsets from my window, and in the mornings, I see the sunrise. When storms are on the horizon, I love watching the clouds gather and the lightning light up the sky. There is a neighborhood park behind us, too and I can see and hear children playing and also there are some adults who go there early in the morning to do their morning workout.

    1. Oh Nonnie, I had no idea you had so much wildlife and beauty surrounding you...I've loved your sunset and sunrise pictures...but really, you must get outside with that camera and take some more pictures of your lake, nature preserve, etc. That sounds glorious to me...and to hear and see the children in the park...that is wonderful too. Thank you for "painting this picture" for us today.

    1. Yes, they are. They are busily going about their business, gathering seed and nut and feeding their young and actively enjoying God's Beautiful creation. Thank you for giving us a glimpse of that scene today. Good morning, by the way!! I'm having my cup of tea while I chat with you!

  8. Enjoyed all your pictures, God is a great artist!! We live in town and I have houses all around me except for across the street, which is a vacant lot with lots of trees. I love to watch the birds and squirrels doing their daily chores!

    1. Yes, Our God is the Master Designer of all things!! I love that you have a vacant lot across from you where you can see the birds and squirrels in the trees doing their daily chores! Watching the "wild kingdom" is sometimes much more interesting than watching the human "wild kingdom". LOL. (Maybe ALWAYS more interesting...certainly more enjoyable! LOL) Thank you for sharing from your "open window".

  9. There is something wonderful to see wherever a person is.
Once I lived in a basement apartment and saw the driveway to the little building what had about 16 apts in it. I planted a big planter in that window(which had no lock!)on the sill with lovely plants.
I could see legs passing by. I could see insects in the dirt what was pretty much window level for me. Birds would fly down to catch them and so I had a up close view of those birds.
One time a baby sparrow was there. I ran out to get him, thinking he was hurt. He fell asleep in my palm. He cuddled right down and trusted me! What a gift. I called wildlife people who said to put him back as Mama would return for him since what I described was a baby learning to fly.
Little Dandelions would pop up and turn to fluff balls as the summer wore on.
I was happy in that little apartment in my hometown.
My view from the bathroom was the main street in town. I liked that too.
Mostly I just love the outdoors and everything in it.

    2. I LOVE the things you saw from your basement apartment window! So very interesting! You definitely took advantage of your 'vantage point' and made it very enjoyable in every way. I love that you could LOVE and be happy in that little apartment with that wonderful basement view of the world!! God blessed you there for sure. And who cares why you wrote "what instead of which"...it still made sense to me. I loved your story and didn't even notice that until you pointed it out!!!

  10. When I look outside my kitchen window I see my pond. I love it! Me and my man spends Friday afternoons when weather permits sitting outside in our lawn chairs by the pond. Sometimes we build ourselves a little fire to enjoy. Such peace by that pond for some reason. My husband's grandfather dug out that area to make a pond years ago. When my husband was around 9 years old he was fishing with his grandpa and suddenly said, "Grandpa, one day I want to build a house right here". Well guess what? We did....many, many years later. God was so good to give my man the desires of a young boy's heart. God is so faithful....even when we are not. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  11. Pam, You've posed a great question! Currently when I look out my window, I see a beautiful white covering of snow covering the ground (and on trees and bushes) and a mostly cloudy sky. Additionally, I see many houses and a few cars.

This wasn't outside my window but it was certainly outside! Several winters ago when I was driving to church on a bitterly cold day (pretty sure the temp was in negative territory), I saw the sunrise. It was like what I would envision a water color painting of a winter sunrise to look like.

    Blessings!

    1. The beautiful white covering of snow on the ground and trees and bushes sounds lovely!! Especially from inside where you are warm and cozy. I love the beauty of a sunrise on a bitterly cold day, with the sun sparkling against the snow...Maybe you should take that drive early more often!! Maybe even take a picture or two!! (stop the car first, of course! LOL) Thank you for this lovely vision. I can see it in my mind's eye, having lived up north in the winter. We don't see it here in Florida, but I do remember and I loved it then too.

  12. Pamela, as always, your photos take my breath away. Thank you for reminding us to be grateful for whatever greets our gaze when we look out the window each day. Oh, how I love the forest, the birds at the feeders, and the numerous squirrel vying for seed on the ground. Always brings a smile to my face and to my heart. God's creation definitely reminds us of His great love, mercy and yes, a sense of humor!
    Blessings to you!
