Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

Monday JOYS
Good Monday Morning! I hope you are having a lovely Monday thus far! It's a bright and sunny morning here in north central Florida, with temps currently (at 9:41 a.m.) hovering around 59 degrees. It was 47 when we woke up, and should reach 72 by the afternoon. That sounds like a picture perfect weather forecast to me! How's the weather where you are? I know many of you have had some horrifically cold weather over the past week. I hope you are beginning to thaw out a bit by now.
This squirrel is up on our back porch, enjoying an acorn.
I'm not sure that he is abiding by all of the "Porch Rules", but he is entertaining and fun to watch nonetheless.
I saw this on one of our Blogging Friend's posts this morning, and it really spoke to me, so I just had to borrow it. I hope Linda at "Linda's Life Journal" won't mind. (click on the link to read her beautiful post) Borrowed from Linda's Life Journal blog post Linda is an artist, and I thought this quote suited her perfectly.
And I thought to myself that applies to every day, not just Monday, although we all know that Mondays are usually thought of as the more difficult of days to get our best "colors" on the canvas.
Now that I am retired, I don't have much trouble with Mondays. Actually I kind of like Monday. It's the start of a brand new week...new opportunities and activities. It's kind of nice to get back into a routine of sorts on Mondays after the weekend events and Sunday routines of worship and rest...
Yesterday was mostly rest for me since I stayed home from church and nursed this cold and laryngitis. I am feeling some better today, I can actually talk a bit more without feeling like it is such a strain. But I do tend to break into paroxysms of coughing spells from the sinus drainage, so I am staying home from Bible Study this afternoon and away from people as much as possible. Thankfully each day brings progress.
Back to the "colors on a canvas" thought...Look at what God painted on His sunset canvas last evening:
God is the Master Designer of the most amazing "paintings" in His skies...no two are ever the same, and I find myself always standing in awe of His masterpieces...
And this is just a small thing, but again it is an example of God's artistry...these little azaleas are blooming after all the frosty and cold weather we've had recently...a beautiful little bright spot to remind us that spring is coming, so just hang in there...winter doesn't last forever (unless you live on the North Pole!).
So today, even though it has taken me about 3 hours to get this post written because of interruptions and my mouse dying and even with new batteries it refused to work, and so I had to find an old mouse with a cord to attach to the computer and thankfully I found one and it still works...even with all of that, today I choose to paint my canvas with JOY. Joy in being alive, joy in being a child of the King, joy in being a sinner saved by the grace of Jesus Christ our Lord, joy that there is beauty all around us if we just take the time to look for it, joy that this old cold I have will soon pass and I will be back to my old self, joy that I have interruptions and am not alone in this world...
Yes, today I paint my canvas with the color of JOY!
How about you?

I choose joy too. Beautiful skies!
ReplyDeleteThank you! A JOYful start to our week!
DeletePam: The temp here was 29 degrees. I had planned to get out and do some things this week. But I also had a list started of things I need to do here inside. It's supposed to get into the high 40s today. I enjoyed seeing the squirrel. You are right! Each day IS a canvas for us to decorate how we choose. I need to remember that. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteChoosing to be joyful and to rejoice in all things can only lead to a brighter day, Pamela. Hope you continue to improve with every hour.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Mondays not too shabby anymore for us retired folks! LOL! I always did though try to start out my Monday with a "Thank you Lord for another Monday morning". Mr. Squirrel wasn't paying neary attention to your porch rules! LOL! Lovely pictures and I do pray that you are feeling much better by now. Choosing Joy is hard at times but as an older friend said years ago: "TODAY LORD, I CHOOSE JOY! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteChoosing JOY is always good; more people should try it. I hope you continue to improve with your health. Do you have the option to use a track pad with your computer? I do and I don't like to use it but in a real pinch, I can manage fairly well. I MUCH prefer using a mouse!
ReplyDeletePardon my ignorance, but I don't know what a "track pad" is. Is that the thing on a laptop? I don't have a laptop...just a regular desktop computer, and w/o the mouse I am pretty well out of business! LOL. I've tried to use the thing on John's laptop, but I am way too uncoordinated to use it. Comes with being left handed I think. LOL.
DeleteWhen I first looked at that first picture, I thought it was a rabbit! lol The colors God puts in his art are always so vivid and beautiful. Yep, choose JOY, it's always the best. If you miss Joy in the mornings, just look around, it will be found!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're feeling a little better! Our weather pattern is much like yours; I find myself having to change into lighter clothing as the day progresses.
ReplyDeleteYes, JOY is a choice -- I wish more people did it. Thinking about that quote-on-canvas, I wonder what color defines JOY. For me it would be sunshine yellow, but that's different for every one.
Love the photos…feel better…I can frankly say that despite the valleys, I have had and have a joyful life…grandkids call my home the laughing place. I have never understood the moaning, and trust me, I have been through tragedies. Thank you for your lovely blog. Prayers
ReplyDeleteSweet post. The sunshine the past 3 days has brought me so much joy. I didn't know how much I needed it.
ReplyDeleteOh I can't believe I was so close! Next time, ok?
ReplyDeleteI love the colors of your sunset.
Sometimes I have to remind myself to choose JOY and gratitude. But it is a very important step to take every morning.
Yes, we do need to choose joy! You have a lot of joy right outside your back door!! I am happy you are feeling some better but sure hope tomorrow brings MUCH better!! Love and hugs, Pam! Praying for you! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos. And I'm glad you are better. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteCute little squirrel. We're in the 60's right now and its sunny. Still cold at night.
ReplyDeleteYou captures some lovely sky photos, Pam, and you are so right about the beauty from above. I especially liked the porch rules sign and seems the squirrel visitor did as well.
