So very thankful for friends and family, and most of all for how God has blessed us and taken such good care of us this past year. When I look back over the year and all that has happened, I just have to stop and thank the Lord for His amazing grace, protection, and provision.
We've moved into a new house...
and new community and are establishing new friendships and enjoying our wonderful little church and family.
We've been blessed with good health, although right now hubby and I are working through a siege of coughing/sinus issues. Praying this will pass before next week's festivities. Seems like a lot of people have been afflicted with this lately, and all this good "fellowship" with others just seems to keep it going around...
This past week's cold/rainy spell kept me housebound for a while, but this morning is gorgeous, and I just had to get outside and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. Here's a few pictures from our pond taken over the past week:
I love seeing his reflection in the water, don't you?
I wonder if he ever notices his own reflection and wonders if his feathers are laying just right. Or if his beak is pointed and sharp enough to catch the fish?
Probably not. Birds are more sensible than we are about such things I am sure...
Here are this morning views on "Still Waters Pond":
from one of my favorite vantage points...
Way out there across the pond I could see these wood ducks swimming by, but they were pretty far away, so the pictures aren't very clear. There are quite a few of them swimming around together:
They swam around behind these bushes on the island, so I lost sight of them. I am tempted to get a kayak and start exploring...but I probably should just leave them alone so they can eat and take care of their own little family...
This picture gives a better perspective of how far away they were:
Back along the shore of our "Still Waters Pond", I am delighted to behold the lovely wildflowers growing in "God's Garden". It is "God's Garden" because He planted it. These flowers grow naturally at His direction...I don't have to tend them at all. They belong to God, and He provides the soil, water, and sunshine so that they will grow and give beauty along the shore. They only come up and bloom in the fall, but I've noticed them around all of the ponds in the area...and they come back every year without man doing anything to help them.
I am reminded of the passage from Matthew 6:25-34, where Jesus was teaching His disciples (and us today) wonderful words that seem to go along with these thoughts:
Dear Pamela,
ReplyDeleteYou shared such a beautiful, tender passage of our precious Savior's words. This poignant reminder of how much He loves and cares about us, everything in our lives, big and small, brought tears to my eyes....
Your pictures are lovely.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Blessings, Linda
Thank you so much, Linda. Yes, Our Lord does care about every detail of our lives, and He has already taken care of them so that we need not worry. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well!
DeleteHow I enjoyed your photos here today, Pamela, and for your timely message not to worry in planning for the upcoming holidays. They will be what they will be, and we should focus on family and fun times. And praying, though, that my mother doesn't bring up politics - lol! She can be such a mess sometimes!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Uh Oh, I will pray for your Mother, that God will 'set a guard over her mouth" concerning politics. I am praying that we will ALL remember to do that. Have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving, no matter what!
DeleteWe are certainly entering into a very busy time of year. You are so blessed to have a haven of nature to enjoy while you renew and refresh. I will venture to say the wildflowers are going to be plentiful in the spring, just another blessing of your new home. This time of year the scripture from Psalm, 'enter His gates with thanksgiving' is always playing in my mind. Thank you for your uplifting blog, your post always leave me feeling peaceful.
ReplyDeleteI always love the 100th Psalm...that, along with the 23rd Psalm, are two that I remember learning as a child. Thank you for reminding me of that one. I love it.
DeleteYour hew home, community and church are lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen. It is a real blessing to us, and we are so thankful.
DeleteThis was a blessing to read. Thank you, Pamela.
ReplyDelete"...and they come back every year without man doing anything to help them."
😁
Thank you, Sandi! I am always in awe of how wildflowers know when to bloom...
DeleteThe reminder, backed up with Scripture, to not worry is so good for all of us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photography and I love your Thanksgiving decorations. (my Pilgrims are waving at yours!!)
Thank you! The Pilgrim twins are waving back at yours! :)
DeleteI turned my worries over to God last month and it is helping at this busy time. Love your new house, it is cheery! and your church is beautiful
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. Yes, it is good to turn our worries over to God...I find I have to do it frequently, however, because I tend to take them back...so it is good be reminded!
DeletePraying that you and your husband feel better very soon. Your home is so lovely, as is the pond, surrounded by the wildflowers. It is nice to see a photo of your church. Thank you for sharing this Bible passage, also. Blessings to you and yours this Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Mildred. We do enjoy our home and pond very much, as well as our church! Hubby is still coughing a lot. Had a rough night. Praying this bug flies away soon, especially before next week! Please and thank you, Lord. :)
DeleteYes, the LORD has blessed you abundantly. I enjoyed the photos of the flowers and the ducks. He really brought you to a small paradise.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cecelia. We do enjoy it here and are so very thankful. It is fun to watch for new "critters" every day. I have accepted the fact that it will be primarily bird watching from now on, and apparently no bears or deer here. We are too close to the highway I guess. But the birds/water fowl do entertain us and we are glad. And very thankful!
DeleteI am just so happy for you and John to be celebrating your first Thanksgiving in your new home! God is so good an we all have so much to be thankful for! xoxox
ReplyDeleteYes, we do have so much to be thankful for. You and Joe certainly do! You've had some rough spots this past year, but God has brought you through them, and we are all very thankful and glad for you! Thank you for being a special "Friend from Florida".
DeleteI hope your first thanksgiving is special. Now I have to go create a Friday post... sigh. Not into it but.. I will anyway.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of the birds who shall remain nameless since they ate so many my beautiful fish. So,while they look good.. I send them a virtual kick in the tail feathers. :D
I will go check your Friday post. I enjoy your posts and look forward to hearing about what is going on in your "neck of the woods".I am sorry the heron ate your fish. Did you get anymore fish, or have they spawned anymore? I do hope the heron will stay out to shore and leave your little pond alone. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Still praying for your famous anonymous.
DeleteYour Thanksgiving table is looking magnificent. I'm sure you will enjoy the first Thanksgiving in your new home. It's going to be a very special memory.I love the photos of your heron. Very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Yes, we are looking forward to having our family all here for that special day. It will be a full house, but very cozy and full of joy. We are blessed and very thankful. Thank you for your kind words. Have a blessed and wonderful weekend.
