Somehow it just seemed to fit. So bear with me!
Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!

"The Long and Winding Road"
I hope The Beatles will forgive me for linking up their wonderful song with these photos of the deer on my "Long and Winding Road"
Somehow it just seemed to fit. So bear with me!
The Long and Winding Road
The long and winding road
That leads to your door
Will never disappear
I've seen that road before
It always leads me here
Lead me to your door
The wild and windy night
That the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears
Crying for the day
Why leave me standing here
Let me know the way
Many times I've been alone
And many times I've cried
Any way you'll never know
The many ways I've tried
And still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here
Lead me to your door
But still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Don't keep me waiting here
Lead me to your door
Songwriters: John Lennon / Paul McCartney
How often do we beg God to open doors for us and to make things happen, but then we just stand in the way holding on to the "door knob" and won't let God take over!
I know I am guilty of this, so I am praying that He will see through my inability to "let go and let God" and just take control.
I know God is in control, but I'm still trying to call the shots and make things happen in
my time, my way.
Lord, help me to seek Your way first and foremost.
On this long and winding road of life, please always
Lead me to Your Door!
Amen!
P.S. to my blogging friends...I apologize that I haven't gotten around to visit your posts this week yet...just seems to be one of those weeks. Trying to get caught up. I haven't even written my 'sermon notes' for the week... Yikes! Hang in there with me, friends. I am kind of being pulled in different directions (mostly in my head...) Thank you! I knew you'd understand.

I just hope the people who are blessed to buy your house will love the wildlife as much as you do!! Great post, Pam!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri. It has been such a magical, beautiful, wild and naturally blessed place. I will miss it, but I pray I will find something equally wonderful, and yes, that the ones who live here will appreciate what God hath provided here.
DeleteYour deer friends will miss you when you move. They will know and miss you. Animals know who likes them and who doesn't. I wish you could just move the other town closer to you and stay in your sweet home with the garden and the deer. The song was great with the addition of your photos, too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find something even better and I hope the deer get a new friend to care about them as you have.
Dear Annie, I know what you mean...but God is "calling" us to a new open door...a new place..and I feel certain there will be others here to "take my place" in caring for the wildlife. Many who live here in the neighborhood already do. We are searching for a home where we will still have maximum exposure to the local wildlife, whatever it may be. I know they have deer in that area, and more little lakes around every corner, so I am opting for something with a water view at least...which will attract interesting birds and other wildlife. You see, I've given God this "list" of things that I want in our new home...and I think He tends to humor me a bit. We shall see what develops as time goes by. Just have to get this house sold first so we can move forward. Herein lies my impatience...
DeleteI feel a little lost, after being away I must have missed a post of you sharing that you are moving??
ReplyDeleteForgive me for being behind. :(
My parents had wild life on their 40 acres and they seemed comfortable with humans, until they sold their home, after that the wild life disappeared and ventured closer to our property (which is down the hill from mom and dad's place) where they have stayed.
The new owners are hunters and I believe the deer and elk sensed there was danger. We enjoy them now along with our other many critters.
God bless you~
So wonderful to hear from you Debbie. Yes, I announced a couple of weeks ago that we have listed our home for sale, and are planning to move to a community about 30 miles north of here, where our son and his wife live. Since our son got married last year and moved to that little town, we have started attending church there and have met many wonderful people. It is still a small, rural community, but closer to other larger towns for shopping, doctors, etc. As we get "older" we are finding that living in such a remote area as we do now has its disadvantages even though it is wild and beautiful. Our new location still has plenty of wildlife to enjoy, so we are looking forward to exploring just what God may have in store for us there. We are optimistic that it will be a grand new experience. Thank you for popping in. One thing won't change...this address here, where I hope to continue sharing all the new beauties I see.
DeleteI wonder if they really can tell... I bet they have a sense of it.
DeletePam: I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the deer. Is this the dirt road you showed us the other day that turned and went out of sight? I understand about being pulled in different directions. Just take your time and get back to us when you can.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I remember when I did that, but most likely it is the same road, as this is the road that goes in front of our house and we walk it every day. I've photographed deer, bear, and all many of birds, flowers, trees, etc., along this road in the almost 7 years that we've lived here. I will miss this road when we move, but I am trusting that God will place us on an equally interesting road in the future. It just may be new interests. I am trying to be patient and wait on the Lord to get this party moving. LOL. Thank you for understanding.
DeleteLove your post. Slow down a bit, Pam. Listen to this beautiful song:

Thank you, Aritha, for that wonderful song. I love the message of it, and have often listened to it. It is so good to be reminded that "God will make a way". He will be my guide...hold me closely to His side... Yes...He will make a way...
DeleteI understand where you are coming from, Pamela. God has been teaching me and answering my prayers for His help and it's wonderful that He sets us free when we give Him control and let Him lead the way. My prayers now is to NOT pick it back up but let go and let God lead! It is so hard to do at times, but He knows what's best for us.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day my friend!
Thank you, Sylvia. It seems like we come to new places in our lives where we have to learn to trust and be patient all over again. How often have I been in this place? Way too often, I can assure you. But God has never failed us. He always takes care of us.
DeleteGuilty as charged! I lay my burdens at the foot of the cross....and then pick them up again. Why do I do that? I know better. Amen to your prayer.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be something that we all have to learn over and over again. Just part of life I guess. Once we have it all figured out and do everything perfectly it is time to "graduate" to heaven!
DeleteOh, yes, Pamela, this Beatles' song fit perfectly with the photos, and spoke so accurately to how we sometimes relate to God. We think He's left us "standing here" without His help, when in truth, it is we who are refusing to follow His lead to His door. Great thoughts today, my friend, and I look forward to seeing you at my blog.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Thank you, Martha. I am glad you saw the meaning in this song, even tho secular, it speaks to us on a spiritual level as well. I will check out your blog. I peeked earlier, but was with hubby at a Dr. appt. and didn't have time to read.
DeleteAwe...sweet post dear lady. And oh yes, I love that old Beetles song. Girl, I wondered where your sermon notes was. Have a good day. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteI will try to add the Sermon Notes to my next post. Sometimes it takes me a while to let it all sink in so I can decipher it for everyone. Hope you are having a wonderful week. Thank you for always being a positive note.
DeleteForgiven. As I am having the same Issues! Finally getting over here and I love the long and winding road and I never knew the song before. We do hold onto the doorknobs, don't we? I love how you put lyrics and verses with your pictures.
ReplyDeleteYikes! You never knew that Beatles song? I thought you were about my age...but sometimes we are not always listening to the same things just because we are from the same era. Even though it was not written as a spiritual song, I just felt it was a message today that would lead us to God's open door! He has so many ways of reaching our hearts.
DeleteBeautiful pictures to go with a song we Baby Boomers enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWhen I don't hear from you, I know you are about worthwhile things (even if you're goofing off, which we all need a certain amount of!!).
This has just been a busy week...seems like there has been something to do every day...a lot of running here and there. some goofing off, and some not so much. I have to clean house every day before we can go anywhere in case someone will come look at it...but so far no takers. Praying for patience and to rest in the Lord...He knows best.
