Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!
What Do You See Outside YOUR Open Window Today?
Remember: "When God closes a door, He always opens a window!" You never know what might be out there waiting for you!

Sermon Notes - "God Is Love"
What a beautiful way to start our day...
After the choir sang the above anthem this morning our Pastor shared with us the following message:
Scripture Lesson:
I John 4:7-14
7. "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God;
and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
8. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
9. In this the love of God was manifested toward us,
that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world,
that we might live through Him.
10. In this is love, not that we loved God,
but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11. Beloved, If God so loved us,
we also ought to love one another.
12. No one has seen God at any time.
If we love on another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.
13. By this we know that we abide in Him,
and He in us,
because He has given us of His Spirit.
14. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world."
Here are the highlights of this message given to us today. The Pastor started out by saying that there are some things we need to hear from God,
and #1 is "Chill Out!"
Relax! Stop trying so hard to make things work out the way you want it to work.
We are not in control!
God is in control!
God is good!
See and understand God's plan is 1,000 times better than our plans.
God's plan has been written since day one!
God's plan is much better!
God is not looking for qualified, "rock star" people
God is looking for those who are willing and available.
God calls us to do something amazing for Him.
Surrender your plans...God will lift you up...God's plan is better!!
Nothing is wasted when it comes to God's plan.
He doesn't want anything from us...HE JUST WANTS US!!...
He wants us...to worship, show love to one another...to Him...
He loved us before we were created.
He wants us to love Him.
When we humble ourselves and listen to what He's telling us to do, He will guide and lead us to do what is best.
God calls us to pray for others...we need to humble ourselves and listen for that voice of God...
One of God's beautiful places
"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge."
Psalm 46:10-11
Tonight's sky
As usual, I left the service this morning feeling like the message was preached especially for me...with all of our great "plans" we are making, we have to remember that God's plan is always the best plan...and sometimes His plan may be different than what we thought or dreamed...but it is always the best plan!
And so, with that in mind, I look forward to whatever way the Lord will lead us in the coming days and weeks. We are placing our future completely in His loving, capable hands...and know that He is God...and He will do what is right and best for us.
Please Note : I want to repeat thisdisclaimer here...the notes, outline, and content included here are based upon my own personal understanding of the message that was being given. I am not attempting to completely quote or reproduce this message or any other message I've shared previously. Just as each person reading these notes may glean insights and thoughts that seem to directly apply to one's own situation and interpretation, my own delivery of these messages is skewed by my hearing and translation of what is being said. Some may read my notes here and wonder if they were hearing the same message as I...and I say, God speaks to each of us as He wills...there are things He is trying to get across to each individual that may be entirely different than what the person sitting next to you in the pew is needing to hear... That is how the Holy Spirit works! He knows what we need to hear and how to apply it to our hearts. So it is with that understanding that I present these sermon notes to you.
Sermon Notes, FUMC Interlachen, FL., Pastor AC Myers, October 7, 2018
Thank you, Terri. Yes, I know God is leading us...I just tend to get impatient and want all the answers right now! I know you understand that! But when we let Him guide us each day, we will not go astray, and He may have some very pleasant surprises waiting for us...so "just follow!"
Wow! Thank you, Toni. That is a blessing to me to hear, and I know our pastor would feel the same way, as the messages he preaches on Sunday are meant for so many more people than just our small congregation. Praise God that He has blessed you in this way. You are a joy and blessing to me.
Loved the sermon notes today! WOW!....this kinda goes right along with what our Pastor preached on yesterday! IT AIN'T ABOUT US AND OUR PLANS...BUT IT'S ABOUT HIM AND HIS PLANS. He even went on to say, "How dare we try to conform Christ to our plans! OUCH! Good stuff today girl. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Oh, I love that one..."How dare we try to conform Christ to our plans!" Bang Zoom, that hits me right between the eyes too!! Thank you for adding that additional thought...perfect! Hugs and blessings to you too! Hope your neck is doing better.
Thanks Pam. It is better but mercy...I feel it every day. Everyone I talk to that has dealt with this says same thing...you always feel it to some degree. Marty wants me to get a 2nd opinion. We shall see. Thanks for asking. And I just posted on your previous blog post. I miss some of the posts but when it hit me about your selling I had to pop back over. Praying for God's Will.
This is a timely message for me today. The temptation to be tense has been strong today. I'm relaxing as a result of this reminder to trust God and leave it all to Him. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, I understand that "temptation to be tense". I have the same issue. I want to make things happen NOW! But then I pause to remember that God's timing is always perfect, and He has it all under control, and to just "chill out" and relax in Him. We seem to all have these kinds of "issues" in our lives, being human and all... Thank you for your words. Praying for you today in your 'adventure' as well.
Amen, Pamela! God's plan is always the best; we simply need to get out of the way and let Him work. Sorry I've missed a couple of blogs here, but going with Virginia to visit Mom made great demands on my free time. And I love the photos you shared here, too, especially the night sky. Blessings, my friend!
So glad you had the opportunity to spend some time with your Mom and Virginia. That is the most important thing! blogs will wait. But yes, we "simply need to get out of the way and let Him work." That tends to be my problem...getting out of the way. I want it done "my way", and "right away!" God is still working on me...
Thank you so much. Mostly I love this: "He wants us...to worship, show love to one another...to Him..." So nice you are sharing that with me. That He wants us. Me. How amazing is that?
yes, pretty amazing! The God of the universe...Who created everything and every one, wants to have a relationship with ME, with You...He loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die for us so that someday we can be together with Him forever and ever! Amen!!!!! Quite amazing.
yes, it is so easy to forget when things aren't going the way we had hoped or planned. I have to remind myself often that God is in control, and His plans are the best plans! Thank you for stopping by for a visit. It is always good to hear from you.
Thank you for visiting here today. I would love for you to sign my guestbook and let me know you stopped by. I always enjoy reading your comments and words of encouragement! May you be blessed as you go on your way. Please come back and visit again soon.
Thank you for this post!

DeleteLovely, Pam. God is good and will direct you in the days ahead. Your course is set by Him. Just follow!!
