Happy Friday, Friends!
Two Great White Egrets and a Sand Hill Crane. |
Here are some early morning views on Still Waters Pond today.
The sun was shining so brightly that it was difficult to get a really good focus of these Great White Egrets.
This one was "up a tree", enjoying the view, I guess...There may not be many "fotos" for today...seems like I've already shared most everything of note lately, and speaking of which, in my last post HERE, where I showed pictures of a small alligator, apparently I didn't make it clear enough that we saw that gator when we traveled down to the Kenwood boat ramp about 5 miles from here. He was NOT in our Still Waters Pond! Thankfully, we have NEVER seen an alligator in our pond, and I truly pray that we never do. Our pond is rather small and shallow, and gets even more shallow when we are going through a dry spell, and it seems to me that it is not a favorable environment for alligators because the water just isn't deep enough. So, although I appreciate everyone's concern that the little alligator is in our pond and might get too close to our "friendly" wildlife, thankfully that isn't the case.
And also, as far as the turtle eggs go, I hope we might get to see them hatch, but over the years we've lived here, we've had other turtles come and lay eggs in our yard, and I have yet to ever see one turtle egg hatch. I think they must do it either at night when the hawks or other predators aren't looking, or something else gets the eggs before they ever have a chance to hatch. Actually, when I went and took a close up look at where the turtle appeared to be laying her eggs, I couldn't find any evidence of it in the ground. So maybe it was another one of those "false pregnancies" around here! LOL. So, I apologize for any false hopes or misconceptions about life here at "Pamela's Wild Kingdom". Sometimes it is quite interesting and exciting, and then other times, like right now, I can't find much of anything interesting to take a picture of. LOL.
However, we DID get a lovely rain/thunderstorm yesterday afternoon, for which we are most thankful!
The storm rolled in while we were over in the "city" about 15 miles from home, where hubby was finally having his MRI. When he was done and it was time to drive home, it was thundering, lightning, and blowing rain so hard that we had to wait inside the building for a while before we could leave. Then, thankfully I had brought in our umbrella, and we were able to make a mad dash for the car in a momentary lull in the storm. However, driving home in that rain another story! Hubby wasn't quite up to driving, so I took the wheel and managed to get us home safely. By the time we got here the rain had pretty much stopped for a while, and then another storm rolled in later. These pictures don't really do it justice. But it was definitely a "Shower of Blessing" for us...and we hopefully are going to be getting some more much needed rain tonight.
When I look back on my life and all the blessings the Lord has rained down on me I am in awe. He is so merciful and so full of grace. Each day when I wake up and I can walk without a cane or a walker, I can breathe without an oxygen tank, I can eat without tubes running into my body, I slept in a warm and comfortable bed, oh the list goes on and on and on and on. God is good all the time!
ReplyDeleteI think egrets are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteRain on the pond is really pretty and I love that old hymn you put with it.
I'm so glad the alligator wasn't at your pond. I was worried for the cranes.
Thanks for the update on your hubby. I'm glad he's feeling better and will be praying for a good result.
Love they hymn Shower of Blessings, and the rain is always such a refreshing washing!
ReplyDeleteWe need to take the time to count our blessings! Lifting up your Hubby for a good report! And to just rest in the Lord! Hugs, Roxy
Hi Pamela, I like the pictures of the pond and the egrets. Good that you got the rain you needed. I hope all is well with your hubby. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely and soothing nice to get some refreshing rain. Love the hymn and Scripture verse. God bless you and thank you 😊 🙏 ❤️
ReplyDeleteWe need the rain here, too! Of course, in another month we might be wishing it would stop raining! I enjoyed your photos and my visit here with you!! I'm glad the MRI is done and behind you two. Have a blessed weekend, dear friend! xo
ReplyDeleteYes, the waiting for tests and for results is hard when you are not feeling well! We've had some beautiful storms here in the late afternoons this week, also.
ReplyDeleteYes, the storms have been something else...I told my husband I think I drove through a tornado the other day. It was wild. Keeping John in prayer (and you too). smiles
ReplyDeleteBeau and I saw a flock of White Ibis up high in an oak tree this week, they look amazing standing up there even if they are surely UGLY with those curved orange beaks. we got 1/2 inch yesterday of badly needed rain, and this morning 1/4 and are hoping maybe we will get a little more today.. glad the dreaded MRI is over and praying the results are good ones. I do despise driving in Florida Thunderstorms.. glad you made it home safe. head over to see the gator I missed that is NOT in your pond
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that John's MRI went well and that you all made it home safely in all that rain, Pamela. And what a downpour you got! Indeed, they were showers of blessings.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for these updates ... I just did an (emphatic) fist pump that John's MRI went well. Tom's very first was an epic fail (panic attack), but they said it's not uncommon; after a Valium (or two) the next time was thumbs up.
ReplyDeleteOh how I hate driving in rainstorms like what you experienced! White knuckles and prayer. One day at a time, sweet Jesus!
I'm glad the MRI is behind you and am praying the results are helpful in leading John to feeling much better!
ReplyDeleteYes, we've been getting the rain here, too, and what a blessing that is! I love sleeping through a nighttime storm.
Yes, Showers of Blessing raining down on all of us.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Your Sweet Hubby is finally finished with that MRI. I'm claustrophobic too.
Praise for your safe return and that the pond is getting filled again with your "wildlife"
Beautiful birds are enjoying it too.
