Have a blessed and beautiful rest of your week, my friends.
Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!
What Do You See Outside YOUR Open Window Today?
Remember: "When God closes a door, He always opens a window!" You never know what might be out there waiting for you!

Thursday Thankfulness
It's Thursday afternoon and I want to give thanks to God for some blessings today...
This is the beautiful rose that Rose and Benton gave me for Mother's Day! This is the first blossom, and isn't it glorious?
There a several more buds getting ready to open...so delightfully unique and lovely!
It's name is "Double Delight", and yes, I am doubly delighted to have this wonderful gift that keeps on giving! Thank you, Rose and Benton, for this very thoughtful rosebush gift!
Well, today is the day that Blackie Sue is going to her appointment to be "fixed". Actually she will stay with one of the volunteers in charge of this "operation catnip" tonight, and they will take her to the clinic tomorrow and bring her back home here on Saturday.
When the lady came to pick her up and put her in the carrier it was a bit of a struggle to get Blackie to go, and here's my memento to remember her by while she is gone. Thankfully it's not very deep and really doesn't hurt, but it will remind me to say little prayers for her throughout the next couple of days as she goes through this bit of "trauma". (and yes, I did wash it thoroughly). And also to pray for those who will be taking care of her, that they will treat her with kindness. I am sure they will.
Sunshine is kind of moping around on the back porch since she left. This picture was taken a few minutes ago, looking down through my window in my "room with a view"...He is laying down right outside this window where it is cool and shady, but also about as close as he can get to me without being inside the house. I wonder if he realizes I am right through that wall? I think he does.
I've been outside a couple of times to reassure him, and he had a LOT to say to me!
"Meow, meow, meow! Where did they take my friend Blackie Sue? Is she going to come back? Why did you put her in that cage and send her away with a stranger? Meow, Meow, Meow!" I gave him some extra little treats and petted him some more and talked extra sweetly to him. He rubbed my legs and didn't want me to go back inside the house...and he really wanted to come inside. But then he settled down there in this spot outside my window and he's taking a nice nap. He'll be fine, and Blackie Sue will be back before we know it.
I did have the lady look at him (which surprisingly he allowed her to get near him and lift his tail), and in her opinion he has already been fixed! He's quite furry and it was hard for me to tell, but she is quite certain. So that made me happy that we don't need to go through this again with him!
These were some fun pictures I took of Blackie Sue and the Duck yesterday...
Yes, that duck thinks he's one of the family and isn't at all afraid of the cats. As you can see, Blackie Sue just turns her back on him, and then scoots out of his way:
Oh, do you see Trumpet in the background, and Mother Crane down there keeping an eye on Mr. Duck?
No one wanted to pay him any attention up here. So finally Mr. Duck decided to take off and fly away to the pond.
There he goes!
I managed to get a picture of the full moon early in the morning yesterday. It's been too cloudy at night to get a picture.
I am thankful for so many things...my family, our home, our church and friends, our health...things we should never take for granted. God has been very kind and gracious to us, and we are very thankful.
So if you are facing uncertainties in your life, health concerns, family issues, financial matters...remember that there is NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING too difficult for God!!
Amen.
Have a blessed and beautiful rest of your week, my friends.
Thank you for being here!

Beautiful photos and I love the Scripture verse! It is so fun to see the cat and duck together!
ReplyDeletePrayers for Blackie-Sue and all involved. Cat scratches hurt. I haven’t had one in years but I remember when Susie was a kitten. You can always tell people who have kittens, by all the scratches on their arms.
ReplyDeleteAll your critters are “family” now. Even the ducks! I used to raise white doves and one of my male cats would sit on top of the Aviary and the doves would coo. They weren’t afraid at all.
You know there are health benefits in having pets in our old age - we have lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels than non-owners. So sitting outside and enjoying your animal life is good for you!
Always a joy hearing from you.
I hope all goes well for Blackie Sue. It's good to have this done. I've had some cat scratches too, they can hurt!
ReplyDeleteTrumpet keeps growing!
Amen! God can handle it all.
ReplyDeletePoor Backie Sue didn't understand that this is for her own good. Take care of that scratch, cat scratches can be dangerous.
Your roses are so beautiful and such a wonderful gift. Hae a great Thursday evening. We'll have our zoom Bible study with our Spokane group in a couple of hours. The time difference makes it a little late for us, but we can sleep later on Fridays so that doesn't matter. We love still "meeting" with them even four years after we moved. It's a wonderful way to keep in touch.
Blessings,
Betsy
So much to be thankful for starting with the truly beautiful rose. It's beauty is like a ray of sunshine. Poor Blackie Sue...trust all will go well and she can reunite with sunshine. I find it pretty neat that I can enjoy all your cute little pets as I'm getting to know them all. Take care of that scratch...
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that Sunshine has already been "fixed". Praying that Blackie Sue does okay. I still wonder if they will find that she has also already been fixed. Hoping it all goes well and she will come back, ready to relax again on your porch. Both cats seem so sweet! Trumpet is getting big!! They grow so fast! Pam, your rose is gorgeous! The colors are amazing. Almost makes me want to plant a couple of those! Test my almost green thumb! LOL Keep us posted about Blackie Sue!! xo
ReplyDeleteThat rose is beautiful. It has the most amazing perfume. I have one in my garden that was there when we purchased the home (28 years ago) and we only water it and we get the most amazing roses from it. Rita
ReplyDeletethose roses are beautiful! Praying that Blackie Sue will be fine and home soon. Such a beautiful thankful list
ReplyDeleteThat rose is incredible!!! Hoping Blackie will be back soon!
ReplyDeletePoor Sunshine! I know he must be troubled at Blackie Sue's sudden absence, but he will forgive and forget once she is back home with you all. I do so love your gorgeous roses, too, Pam. The "kids" gave you such a special gift for Mother's Day, the one that keeps on giving. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteI do hope the kitty will be home safe and sound soon. Home...not what you had planned but hey cats pretty much are independent. They love a porch and food. Your rose is pretty. Hope it brings you many pretty blooms.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder that nothing is too difficult for Him. I do know this but sometimes I just need an extra reminder.
ReplyDeleteOh your poor kitties. Hope everything will be ok and glad that Sunshine has been fixed already. Hopefully that darn duck will get the message that he's not wanted...
Simply gorgeous rose and the promise of more blooms. The gift that keeps on giving.
Have a wonderful weekend and hope your cat scratch heals asap.
Sue
Love your pretty rose bush! And glad you got pictures of the moon, I forgot to, mine were when it wasnt quite full yet. Hope Blackie Sue is doing great! She will be so glad to get HOME. Oh boy, the HEAT has arrived here, how bout there?? It's 94 today. almost too hot to porch sit. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful rose, a very thoughtful gift. Sunshine will be pleased to have Blackie Sue home from the sounds of it :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful post, smiles. Wishing you a lovely Saturday.
ReplyDeleteYour new rose is so pretty, hope it grows well for you. Also hoping all goes well with Blackie Sue, the trauma of going is probably worse than the 'catnip' will be. Nature says cats and birds/ducks are enemies, but I was reminded of a time when the lamb will lay down with the lion. Oh happy day. Hope you're enjoying a great weekend.♥
