I've been a bit "AWOL" today...but it's been a long day and I have good excuses. LOL. It is now almost bedtime and I am just getting around to sitting down at my computer and thinking about what I should write before I go to bed. Since Friday is for photos, I will share what I have...which isn't a whole lot for this week, but it is what it is.
The day started out really early for me, leaving home around 6:30 a.m. to go with my son to St. Augustine for a medical procedure. He needed someone to drive him home afterwards and since his wife had to work today, I was elected. So here's a few pictures I took while on the way over and then while I was waiting for him to be done:
The sunrise was breaking through the clouds...
And as we got out onto more open roads I thought I would be able to get a better shot of the sun, but it was playing peek-a-boo with the clouds and every time I thought I'd get a good picture a cloud would roll over it or a tree would block it, so here is the best I could do:
It's still pretty spectacular, as are all of God's glorious sunrises and sunsets! This was a beautiful way to start our day right.
While I was waiting for my son I took a walk around the building and snapped a few pictures. It was a beautiful morning ...
This boat market was across the highway...
Of course we are near the coast and the Intracoastal waterway, so people need those boats! (At least they think they do! LOL)
Since I missed saluting our flag at home this morning I saluted this one instead...
And I just thought that barren old dead tree was interesting, along with the sunshine up in the corner of the picture.
Everything was finally over and all was well (Praise God!) and I could drive us back home again, so no more pictures since I was doing the driving. We did pull into a Dunkin Donuts so he could get something to eat and I got a cinnamon donut...something I haven't had in ages. It was messy while trying to drive, but it was still good. Once we got back home we ended up picking up my hubby and also our DIL had just gotten home from work and we all went out to lunch. Then we came back home and I took an extra long nap, since I had been awake since about 4:00 a.m. I didn't need to wake up until 5:00 a.m., but the anticipation of having to wake up and get up so early ensured that I would be awake for an hour before I really needed to be...of course. So the nap this afternoon was much needed and appreciated.
Tonight we are thankful to be getting some much needed rain. I just wish it would last a little longer, but at least it watered my plants, and I am most grateful.
Now, for a few pictures from a day ago. We've been paying close attention to the Sand Hill Crane family, as it appears that they are getting closer and closer to hatching time, probably some time next week. Look at the size of those two eggs! Do eggs get larger as the babies inside develop? They sure look like it. I don't think they do, but these eggs sure do look BIG!
Here she is very gingerly sitting back down on the nest. I think she can tell the babies inside are getting big and ready to hatch soon. But she continues to patiently wait for the right time for them to make their appearance. The mother and father cranes continue to take turns sitting on and guarding the nest.
I will keep watching and will let you know as soon as I know anything more!
Here's some food for thought tonight as I close this out and head to bed:
Romans 8:18-19
18 "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creation
eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God."
Have a good night my friends!
God is with us!
I just love that the Sandhills keep coming back to your pond to nest and raise their little ones! Keep a close watch for us!! :) Great news that Ben's procedure went well. Always nice to get that news! I told Cheryl this afternoon that you said hello and one of my hugs was from you. She wants us to all gather together when they come down again. I told her that was a great idea!! She is such a beautiful lady. We had a nice visit. Happy weekend, Pam!! xo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunrise photos. I'm glad all went well for your son with the procedure.
ReplyDeleteThose cranes are so patient and good parents. I'll be looking forward to seeing the blessed event!
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
"God is with us!"
ReplyDeleteAmen.
Ohhh you were that close to the beach, and you didn't say hello for me (LOLOLOLOLOL)--I sure hope Benton is alright etc. Hope you have a beautiful day friend...and I am up at 4 am every day because of work...and often have a total of 17 hr days, grins.
ReplyDeleteYour sunrise pictures are so beautiful. I love sunrise. I’m glad your son’s procedure is done and that you all got to go out to lunch together. Now, you have me thinking about a donut. lol. Looking forward to see the sand hill cranes hatch.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos. I like these spectacular sunrises and sunsets. God is the best painter of all.
ReplyDeleteBeen praying for you to feel better. I have the same issues with the insides feel great but the joints are falling apart. Guess I've worked too hard and wore myself out. *lol*
Love & Blessings. xx
Those sunrise photos are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI am very glad your son's procedure went well and you were able to be with him.
Pretty sunrise. I knew we needed rain and I have been watering plants, but I didn't want it to come until all those azaleas had done their thing. They have been so pretty, but now the rain can come. We need it. I am quite sure all the things will really pop once we get some rain. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteSunrises are one of my favorite things. Ever. (lol)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear Ben's procedure went well ... and you treated yourself to a cinnamon doughnut. Simple pleasures.
So glad that all went well for Benton and that you could indulge in a much-deserved nap in the afternoon, Pamela. I'm getting excited about the arrival of the young colts, too. I know you will keep us updated.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Beautiful photos of the day beginning and the birds at day's end. Glad Benton's appt went well. Doughnuts -- I haven't had one in a while. A large glazed one with coffee sounds good!
ReplyDeletePam: I love seeing the pictures of the Cranes on your pond. (I know it's not yours). I don't know if the eggs enlarge as the babies grow inside. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela! You got some beautiful pictures of the sunrise on your drive to St. Augustine. So glad all went well. The donuts sound good. I hope you have a good Sunday. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteNice photos! Pretty sunrises for sure.
ReplyDeleteGood to know things went well for your son. I enjoyed the pictures you took along the way. YES, those eggs look very large to me, anxiously awaiting pictures of the new born babies!! Wish I had a cinnamon donut {{sigh}}.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Regine
ReplyDeleteGlad to read that all went well both with the early morning drive and the medical procedure as well. Yes, those eggs are very large!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope your son is doing well . You are such a great mom. Love all the beautiful photos. Our late SIL Roger grew up in and around St. Augustine. I always had hoped he would travel back to Florida with us and showoff his birthplace.
