Friday Foto Friends from Chilly Florida

Good Friday Morning Friends!

Sunrise at 7:00 a.m., Current Temperature is 42 degrees!! High today will be 60!
No snow in sight...but then again, this IS Florida!

I was thinking to myself, gee, I wish I had some kind of bird picture to show you this morning. No sooner had I said that than a flock of Canada Geese came honking and flying in onto Still Waters Pond! Sorry again for the poor quality, but it is difficult to get good pictures in such low light:

Nevertheless, they flew in right on time to bless me again...another example of God's perfect timing!

To show you that it is quite chilly here...This is my hubby yesterday, wearing his PJ's to keep warm.
If you are a Facebook friend, you've probably already seen this photo as it was quite the talk of the town yesterday! LOL

I was thinking I didn't have much to share with you today as we are busily preparing for Saturday's big event at Dixie Cottage:

It will be a long day of fun and hopefully lots of happy customers who come to visit us and do some early Christmas shopping!

If you can't make it here to Florida to our little shop, then please support your local small businesses wherever you are!  I believe next Saturday, November 26th, is the official Shop Small Business day, but any day is fine with all small business shop owners!

Dixie Cottage is filled with beautiful items, mostly all created by local artisans. We are very thankful to be able to provide space for them to sell their wonderful creations:

Those little trees are hand crocheted!! Beautiful!

All kinds of ornaments and signs and decor

Christmas quilted wall hangings:

More Christmas ornaments...wreaths...all kinds of decor

I love this old Singer sewing machine. One of our vendors brought in a lovely little stool that is just right for it!

Let us not forget the true meaning of the season:

This pink little dresser would be lovely in some sweet little girl's bedroom:

Repurposed jewelry made into lovely and fun Christmas pins and earrings, etc.:

This is a lovely "new to us" painted accent table...

And it I had a young grandchild, I may be tempted to take this Rocking Horse home with me:

This is not a vendor's item, but I do love this woodland Santa with the fox, cardinal, owl, bunny rabbit, and polar bear cub:

Well, the sun is a little brighter now and the geese swam around the pond and came back into view for a minute...and then they hurried on their way around the pond again...or maybe they are headed to Dixie Cottage to take advantage of all the great deals!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I may be a bit out of touch for a couple of days while we get through this major event! LOL.

2 Corinthians 9:8

"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you,
that you, always having all sufficiency in all things,
may have an abundance for every good work."

  3. Lots of stuff to show! We have tons of geese here that stay because we have a large wildlife preserve that keeps open water with an aerator.
If you don't mind, could you send me your mailing address, Pam? Thanks-xo Diana

  4. It is finally cooler here in NH and we have been wearing fuzzy pjs as well. John looked comfy in his and with that fireplace behind him. The new floors look lovely as well. It seems like Dixie Cottage is well stocked for the holidays with so many wonderful creations. It’s a great time of year and hope the open house is a great success as well, Pam.

  5. I want to get to the shop next year…I have anti y condo, but it looks like visiting the shop would be a experience like Barnes and Noble…experience…I could find some gifts to send to friends for birthdays and Christmas. Pictures are gorgeous. That is really cold…last year, here on the Gulf, I had heat on two times…it is chilly today around sixty, but I don’t mind it…no snow…have fun tomorrow. I remember open house on our Hall ark store…it was ours and not a franchise,so we did what we chose…my husband and I ga e free pictures with children who came…he and I dressed as Santa and Mrs…loved it

  7. Dixie Cottage looks so festive, Pamela; I do hope your Sip and Shop goes wonderfully for all of you. Thanks, too, for the photos of the geese. We see them around town now and then, and I love to hear them honking when they fly.
    Blessings!

  8. Yes, seeing John on FB last night made me small back so big! That reminds me of the olden Sears Roebuck catalog advertisements.
Even so far away, I'm excited for your Big Event tomorrow! Two thumbs up for small business owners. If given my druthers, there's no-where else I'd like to patronize.

  9. I say it every time you have posted pictures of Dixie Cottage - wish I lived close enough for an in-person visit. Do you have a website where you sell some items? I hope your sip and shop event is very successful! Fun picture of your hubby in his PJs. See you again soon!

    1. Thank you, Deb. No, we don't have a website for selling items online. So many of our items are created by different vendors, and some of them may have separate online outlets for selling their products, but honestly, with the cost of shipping these days it is becoming so difficult for small businesses to sell online. It makes the cost of the item way too expensive and we aren't big enough to offer "free shipping"...which of course is never free...the cost gets added into the price of the item one way or the other. But certainly, if someone wants something badly enough and doesn't mind paying the cost of shipping it, then we will gladly send it! Have a blessed weekend!

  10. I'd stop in if I was closer. Alas I am far away. We are cold here right now, 28 last night and very chilly today as well. The shop seems to be doing well and its so nice you are there to help out.

  11. I wish we lived closer so we could visit Dixie Cottage. I love shops like that. It's what I search out when we go on vacation. Take care of yourself and don't over-do it this weekend. May God bless the shop this weekend and all of it's vendors and owners.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

    1. Thank you so much, Betsy. I wish all our blogging friends were closer so we could get together! That's the only downside of blogging...we are mostly all too far away! But if you ever come to Florida, please come calling!!

  15. The temp yesterday at 7 am was 24 degrees. No Canadian geese showed up, but I did have to scrap frost off the windshield before I made my cat run. I hope you all have a wonderful and prosperous day today at Dixie Cottage! Such lovelies! I wish I could visit. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
