Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!
What Do You See Outside YOUR Open Window Today?

Wednesday "Treasures"
I'll start off this post with a teaser...guess what I watched today?
Yes, you probably guessed it..."Downton Abbey, the New Era"...I watched it on Prime Video while I still have it.
It took a while to really get into it, but the final last twenty minutes or so brought everything together and it left me sniffling while I watched. That's all I'll say in case you haven't seen it yet.
I'm sorry I've been a bit awol this week here in blogland. Just haven't really felt up to par for about a week, and trying to keep up with everything going on either at home, church or at Dixie Cottage has kept me hopping as well as dragging. But today I just had to say "that's enough!" I need a day to just rest and do whatever I feel like doing or not doing. Watching the Downton Abbey movie was a good therapy.
We've been trying to take more walks since it has been a little bit cooler, and seeing all the lovely fall wildflowers is always a treat. That bumblebee above kept buzzing in my face, so that is why that is blurry.
I just love all the purplish pinks and yellow wildflowers right now. They always make me smile.
And speaking of Dixie Cottage, here's a few photos of some new items in and around the store that I don't think you've seen before...we have been getting some new vendors and they bring in some very interesting things...
I love this little decorated hand mirror...
And this is a lovely sea shell and butterflies vanity dish
I am tempted to take this little tiny chest of drawers home with me and put it in the guest room. I just am really attracted to it, with all of its shabby chic-ness.
This happens to be another of our friend Barbara's cross stitch pictures. "Never enough Thyme"...
And it is true..."Life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful." I mean...who among us has a perfect life? Life is really what we make of it...it's all about the heart and the attitude of the heart...and that is what can make our lives wonderful...especially when we have Jesus living in our hearts.
Oh, we just added another new vendor, "Gussied Up" is the name...and I love how they (there are two ladies working together) have "gussied up" lots of special items to re-create them into beautiful new gifts...
There's just so much new stuff to love here!
Some people have asked about having items shipped to them. Of course we'd be happy to do it, but the cost of postage/shipping is so high that it might make things become cost prohibitive. I guess it would depend on how much someone really wanted the item!
But I guess it would still be less expensive than having to make a trip to visit Dixie Cottage in person! LOL. Of course, then you've have the added pleasure of getting to meet me in person! LOL. The pleasure would be all mine, I assure you! I love how many people have already passed through here. It's been really a lot of fun.
So I guess I will close with that for tonight. If you want to get all "gussied up" and come on over for a visit, I would always be so happy to see you. You really don't even have to "gussy up" to come. Come as you are...that's how you'll find me.
If you are feeling kind of weary and burdened with life right now, and we all do now and then because of the fast pace of this world...Jesus has an invitation for you:
Matthew 11:28-30
28 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
I find these words comforting today. How about you?

Feel better…prayers
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing that scripture. I needed those familiar words this evening. It's always fun to see what you have at Dixie Cottage. I hope you are feeling better. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see you had an opportunity to escape and enjoy downtown abbey. We all need to recharge I do it often with a book. The new items at Dixie cottage are very tempting some very talented people indeed. Will keep you in prayer dear friend.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Pamela,
ReplyDeleteI don't "gussie up" a lot anymore, but I would enjoy visiting Dixie Cottage if it wasn't so far away... That little chair in their booth
One of my favorite verses! I loved seeing what's new at Dixie Cottage. The style of the new vendors makes me think of a store here called Country Living. I'm betting the prices are better down there, though. CL is ridiculously expensive these days so I rarely go except for the after Christmas clearance. I'm glad you are getting to enjoy some cooler weather.
ReplyDeleteOops... sorry...I went to see the DA movie when came out, cried throughout, and loved it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful scripture you selected.
Take good care of yourself.
Blessings, Linda
How good to be able to cry "uncle." There are times when a rest is needed. You are a wonderful ambassador for Dixie Cottage! I enjoyed seeing the lovely flowers and grasses...so many colors.
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful you recognize when your body needs a 'time out' ... and you listen. (Not many folks do that.) That little hand mirror is sure precious. If my grandgirls were younger, there's a good chance I'd be over to buy it. Someday!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all your wildlife photos and the ones from the store. That mirror with the little girls is beautiful. I also like the Never Enough Thyme cross stitch. Kind of makes me want to get one of my cross stitch patterns out and do it again. It's been years and years since I've done cross stitch or embroidery.
ReplyDeleteGlad you took a day. We can often wear ourselves out trying to help out and serve. All good things but we have to be careful. I am talking to myself here!!!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful scripture. I am definitely weary of the world and it's problems. Thank you for sharing the photos of Dixie Cottage. I think I could work there quite happily and just gaze upon all of the beautiful things.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you haven't been feeling "up to snuff". We haven't watched the new Downton Abbey movie but probably should while we have it too. Hubby wants to watch the new Lord of the Rings movie today. We don't watch a lot of movies, they're usually disappointing in some way but the Lord of the Rings doesn't disappoint.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Pam: If I would be in your place and worked there, I would not be able to resist the special things. Peace and blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you took time for yourself! That tiny chest is really nice. Have a great weekend Pamela!
ReplyDeleteI do love the tiny chest too because I love shabby chic! After you mentioned the new Downtown movie I remembered that I hadn't seen it yet. I immediately watched it. I didn't enjoy it as much as the last one I saw so I'm watching it a second time and am enjoying it more. I think maybe I was too tired the first time. I read your newest post too about the recent sales at Dixie Cottage. The story of the couple buying several pieces is wonderful all around and what a blessing to sell a few more pieces.
ReplyDeleteI could probably spend a whole day in your store just looking at each every item! You just never know what you're going to run across and maybe find an interesting story behind it. If I had money to spend, my eye would immediately go to the white 2-drawer chest... that's a very cool item!
