Welcome to my "Open Window"...a place of hope, encouragement, and adventure as we journey down the road from "Closed Doors" to the new opportunities God places in our pathway. I hope you will take the time to go back and follow the trail of mixed blessings and fears, failures and triumphs from the past and side-trips in the present. Perhaps it will conjure up some of your own special memories, and be an invitation for you to share with others. I look forward to spending this time with you!
What Do You See Outside YOUR Open Window Today?

Saturday Blessings!
By now many of our blogging friends on Facebook have already seen these pictures. But for those of you who haven't...here we are! We were so excited to have Linda and her hubby Dave come up for a visit today. Linda is also known as "Just Simply Linda" on her blog.
Of course we met at Dixie Cottage, our son and daughter in love's new store, because that just seems to be the place to meet these days! You can see our son Ben above in the mirror, taking our picture.
It's always great when we can get the hubbies together too for these happy meeting times. Blogging husbands are a special breed. They often get dragged into meeting people that they may not really know much about except for what we've told them from our blogs. But what I've discovered so far from the dear husbands we've been privileged to meet, they are indeed a special "breed"...wonderful guys who love their wives and are happy to make it possible for them to meet these special friends face to face.
Yes, this was the first face-to-face meeting for Linda and me. But we felt like we knew each other for a long time, because as fellow bloggers we have shared our hearts with each other over a period of several years. And in the case of Linda and I, we have a common heartache in that we have each lost a beloved son. I've been holding a lot of hugs in my heart for Linda and Dave ever since we learned of the passing of their dear Liam about 8 months ago. But they had to pack up their home and belongings in New York state and move themselves down here to Florida about an hour's drive away from us so that we could finally meet and give each other those hugs that have been waiting. I'm so glad it finally came together.
We had a beautiful time of visiting over lunch at our local "Nanna's Country Cafe'" and then again here at our house for a while. I think Linda will have more photos to share on her blog when she gets home and has time to put it together. But for now, this is it...and it was was great indeed.
Thank you, Linda and Dave, for traveling up that country road to meet us today! I hope this is just the first of many such visits in the future.
God bless you both...and also to our other friends out there in blogland...
"Y'all Come!"

ReplyDeleteHow nice that you got to meet Linda!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Pam, that meeting up with a fellow blogger is indeed wonderful and especially when you share a common bond. And, it does indeed seem like Dixie Cottage is fast becoming a wonderful place for meeting up with friends, old and new.
ReplyDeleteSuch a thrill to meet a blogging friend in person, Pamela! I'll have to check out Linda's blog myself.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
What a beautiful moment for both of you. ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteP.S. Linda hates her photo taken, LOLOL---Yes...it was a happy day and we loved our visit and John and David got along just fine...etc. Thank you for such a lovely day, my friend. See you soon. smiles
ReplyDeletePam: I am glad you had a nice visit with Linda. At church today, we had a 'visitor' a young woman who grew up in our church both before or merger and after. Few people recognized her due to her weight loss. We were glad to see her. She got married three years ago. She lives with her husband up near Chicago. It was a treat to see her in her "new self".
ReplyDeleteLinda is one of my favorite people in blogland. She is awesome and has been through a lot. I am so happy that you two and your husbands could meet up. Bloggers are a special group - some of the very nicest people I know. Your pictures of your meeting are great! Have a good week. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of the 4 of you together are really special. I'm so glad the visit worked out!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome. I am so excited that the visit worked out. Meeting those of us who write and chat all the time is a sweet event. Enjoy your week Pam.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you both that you got to meet in real life. That is just so cool. I'm hoping some day when we drive back to Florida to visit our daughter, that we'll be able to meet up too. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHow nice for you all to spend some time together.
