Friday Foto Friends: Baby Bluebirds

 First there was one

Hello!

Then there were two

"Where's our food?"

Then there were three...   "Someone call our parents! We're suffocating in this hot birdhouse! And we're very hungry!!"

But danger lurked in the shadows...   ("Hush...there's something out there! It's big and furry!")

The neighborhood kitty seemed oblivious at first...but then later her ears picked up the sound of the chirping birds and she was quite attentive to where the sound was coming from. Finally my son had to throw a ball at the cat to get her to leave. Don't worry, she wasn't hurt...but she got the message, and hopefully she will stay away...but I rather doubt it.

"Where's Mother and Father when we need them most?"

Hoping and praying these little baby bluebirds can make it out safely!

"Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"
Matthew 6:26

They have new worlds to explore

And new "friends" to meet

Genesis 1:20-22
20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

Hopefully there will be a happy update and ending to this little story of the Bluebird Babies.

Today I will be spending the day at Dixie Cottage with my daughter in love Rose so my son can have a day at home to work on the many custom orders and building projects he has stacking up. (Praise God!)  The hardest part of running their business is that they have so much good business they don't have time to do the custom orders and painting that they need to do to keep things stocked and fulfill the orders they have if they have to be at the store every day too.  So I am going to try to give them one day a week, helping Rose in the store so Benton can stay at home and work. It's a good problem to have, and we are all very thankful.

So if you need me today, here is where I'll be:

They are having a "blue tag sale" on specifically marked items today, so hopefully it will be a good day!

Bye bye for now!

    1. Thank you. It was a long day at the store and I came home too tired to check messages, but that was a good sign that business is good, and God is Good!! And the birdies seem to be still happy and healthy and waiting to move out of the nest!

  2. Squealing! ... and praying, too, for our good Lord's mercies on those baby bluebirds! I'm so happy for Rose and Benton; your help is a real blessing. And yes. Dixie Cottage is definitely a fixture on my 'to visit' list!
Wishing you a most blessed weekend!

    1. Ha Ha! I head that squeal! Yes, so far so good with the bluebirds...they are still out there letting Momma and Daddy feed them. I had a long and busy day at the store, but it was good and fun...just tiring for someone who likes to take a nap every afternoon! LOL. God is good! His mercies never fail us.

  3. The little bluebirds are so cute. You are so lucky to get to view this happening. Oh yes, business happening is very good too. I know it will be hard, but business and hard work is better than no business and worry. I am sure you are good at the store front too, so that is a plus for Rose.

    1. Thank you, Sandy. It was a long day at the store, but a good day with many customers, so that is good! This old gal has just been too retired lately, so I wear out faster than the young folks. But it's good for me to be doing something positive. And the birdies seem to still be safe and happy in the birdhouse, letting Momma and Daddy feed them. It won't be long before they will be out here fending for themselves...Praying for a happy new beginning for them!

    1. Thank you. Yes, the baby birds are really cute, poking their little beaks out the "window", calling for more grasshoppers please! It won't be long before they'll be flying about. I did have fun at the store...it was a busy day, but very productive. It's just hard on this old body when I've gotten so used to taking my afternoon nap! LOL. God is good, and He gives us strength in due time. Have a blessed weekend.

    1. Thank you Ruth...so far so good with the babies. Momma and Daddy are still busily bringing them grasshoppers and bugs to eat. They must have huge appetites for such tiny birds! Yes, I had a great day yesterday...long, but good. I missed my afternoon nap, but it was good to be out and about greeting people and feeling useful. God is good.

    1. Oh, thank you, Linda. It was a lovely day. Long day for this old gal...I missed my nap! LOL But it was fun and busy and happy. God is good. I am sure you and Rose would get along great and you would be great at helping in their store. Too bad they couldn't pay you anything just yet. LOL. But they are looking for some reliable and good new vendors to bring in refurbished furniture for sale...so if you ever move down here and like to paint old furniture...you would have a place to sell it! And you could then also work in the store any time you want to help out! It's a win/win! Have a blessed day my friend!!

    1. Oh yes, they are quite well hatched and I think it won't be long before they are out of the nest. I just pray that cat will stay away! Momma and Daddy Bluebird are being kept quite busy catching grasshoppers and feeding their hungry brood all day. And yes, God is blessing our kids' business so wonderfully. We are so thankful, even if it does mean a LOT of hard work for them. I wish I could do more, but this old gal can only do so much. But we did have fun. Hope your mother is doing better. Praying...

    1. I did have a fun day. It is good for me to get out and about and meet and greet people. It's fun when it's for such a good cause...my kids! God is so good. The bluebirds seem to be getting along fine so far...Momma and Daddy are kept busy catching grasshoppers and feeding them. We are watching for stray cats and trying to keep them at bay. The rest is up to God...

  9. When I see the beautiful smiles of your son and his wife, I smile too, on this side of the computer! What a place of beauty and history they have made. I am glad they have so many orders and how kind of you to help out! Yes, throw a ball or even spray the kitty who is too near the bluebird box! I love cats but they are very destructive in terms of birds and little lizards. I know they can't help it but I do not like how they try for little birds.

    1. Thank you for your smiles! Yes, we are thankful and blessed for how God has helped them thus far. Their business is going great...they just need strength to keep up. I am glad I can help a little...just wish I could do more but this old gal wears out faster than I used to. LOL Yes, we are keeping an eye on the bluebird family and trying our best to keep the cats away. Hopefully the birdies will have a good chance to make a break of it and fly away to their happy new life. "His eye is on the sparrow (and bluebirds too)..."

  10. I'm so happy that the kids' business is so good. One of these days I am going to drive over there. It will happen! The poor little birdies look so pitiful and hungry. Hope the folks got back to them with lots of good food. Nasty cat... Happy weekend! xo

    1. Oh, I hope you will, Terri! Just let me know when so I can meet you there. It would be SO much fun to see you. I hope you have a great weekend with your kids and meeting our friend Sparky and hubby. What a treat! Yes, the bluebirds are being well cared for by the parents...lots of juicy grasshoppers! And we are keeping our eye out for the cats in the neighborhood. They're not going to get these babies on our watch! The rest of the time is in God's hands! "His eye is on the sparrow..."and bluebirds too! Have a blessed weekend.

  11. Pam: Good to hear that Benton and Rose are having "a good problem" in their business. I've been concerned about you and your ailment. Are you doing better?

    1. Thank you, Cecelia. I am some better...today I have been trying to take it easy after over doing it yesterday. It's just tough getting old. That's what my Daddy used to say. Actually he would say, "Oh Pam, don't get old!" And I would ask him back, "What's my alternative?" and then he'd smile and say, "Oh, I see your point." Sure do miss him. Thank you for asking. I hope you are doing well. I've been remiss in getting around to everyone's posts. Trying to stay off computer so my neck can heal.

  12. Hi, I hope your neck is better. Cute photos of the blue bird babies. Mine made it out of the bird house safely, thankfully. So thankful that God is blessing Benton and Rose’s business. I know they appreciate your help and it is good for you to meet and greet. Take good care.

    1. Oh, wow, they are already out? I know mine won't be much longer, judging by how much they are eating and how often they stick their heads up in the hole and look out. I hope I get to see it happen. Yes, God is blessing their business, almost too well. They need some time to rest...it's going to be a challenge for them to figure out their schedule so they can get the rest and down time they need and still maintain the business. I pray God will help them keep things in perspective and balanced.
