Friday Fotos Already?

Where has this week gone?  You'd think it would just creep by since we have no real schedules, but this week seems to have flown by. I can't believe it is Friday again, already!! So what do I have to show for it? I'll have to go back through the "archives" of this past week to see if there are any new photos you haven't seen yet.  Just give me a minute here while I collect my thoughts and sip my tea and peruse my "files".

 Okay, let's start with the last picture I took, just few seconds ago.  This is a "moon-set" picture, instead of a sunset!  The moon is setting in the west, and it is as pretty as a sunset, don't you think?

Here is how it looked about an hour ago, when I first woke up. I wish my camera was a little better at taking moon shots, but this will do.

Psalm 89:37
"It shall be established forever like the moon,
Even like the faithful witness in the sky."
My husband was just talking about the full moon the other night, when we first realized there was a full moon out there.  He was saying how that the moon is one thing that we can count on always being there...every month it goes through its cycle and for a couple of days we can view it in all its beauty, and then it wanes again as we watch it in its orbit around the earth...and as it also slowly rotates on its own axis. CLICK HERE for more info on the moon, in case you need to refresh your memory about how it works like I did.

Genesis 1:14-15
14.  "Then God said, 'Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night;
and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;
15.  and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth'; and it was so."

There are a lot of verses about the moon in the Bible. Just Google "What does the Bible say about the Moon", and you will be amazed.  Apparently God thought a lot about His creation of the moon.  However, He warned his people not to worship the moon or the sun or the stars in Deuteronomy 4:19.  In actuality, the sun and moon and stars are all there to worship Him, their Creator:

Psalm 148:1-6
1. "Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
2.  Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him all His hosts!
3.  Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!
4.  Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,
and you waters above the heavens!
5.  Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For He commanded and they were created.
6.  He also established them forever and ever;
He made a decree which shall not pass away."

So, when we look at the moon, let us praise the Lord for His creation, just as the moon itself is set in the heavens for His glory and not for its own honor.

Okay, switching gears...There was a very large white water lily on the pond the other day, or so it appeared...

But in reality it was this White Egret, just hopping around from lily pad to lily pad, apparently catching little minnows or frogs or bugs, or something tasty, because it stayed out there a long time.

Another lovely Cactus Rose...with some kind of bug down inside enjoying its nectar:

Switching gears again:  Mother's Day is coming. Here is one of my favorite pictures of my mother with my sister and me on Mother's Day, 2003.
And here we are again, for her birthday in 2004:
Not a day goes by that I don't think about my mother in some way or another.  Mother's Day in particular brings back those sweet memories.

So what are you doing for Mother's Day?  I guess it will be a little different this year with the social distancing and with most churches still not meeting in person.  We plan to have our Mother's Day "celebration" actually on Monday, as my daughter in law has to work all weekend and she is off on Monday. So the plan is to make lasagna here for supper...she will do the bulk of the cooking and I will help. The main thing is to be together with our family that is here locally. I will miss being with my extended family, but hope we can plan something in the not too distant future so we can all be together again.

Well, the morning is rapidly passing by and hubby is waiting for me to get finished here so we can go for our walk. I'll probably get some good pictures while walking, but they will have to wait for another day.

And remember this guy?  He looks a lot like the Grinch?

Here's his full body pic:

And so I still say, "Don't let "The Grinch" steal your joy, or your Mother's Day spirit!
Stay happy and thankful no matter what!!

Happy Mother's Day!

    1. I am so sorry you cannot be with your Mother this weekend. Praying that she is doing well. Praying it won't be long before you can be together again with her, and also with your precious grandchildren and family. God bless you for your patience and faith. He will make this sacrifice up to you I am certain. (((hugs)))

  4. Pamela, you and your sister look SO much alike!

    For Mother's Day I think we walk over to the in-laws yard so the kids can wave at Grandma. 😂
    My Mother lives farther away, so I sent her some of that Nancy Pelosi ice cream. You know the kind I mean? I had never heard of it before, but I figured it must be good if it is $12 a pint! I will never know. I didn't order any for myself.

    Every day is Friday here. Seriously. Every. Day. I'm not complaining. I like Fridays.

    Have a Happy and Very Blessed Mother's Day!

    1. Thank you, Sandi. Yes, my sister and I have been told that often, although we don't believe it. LOL. She's petite and used to be a brunette and could tan so nicely. I'm tall and used to be a redhead and freckled. Somehow over the years we have met in the middle and sort of melded into one another. And then we sound like our mother. LOL. Oh my, I hope that expensive ice-cream doesn't melt in the mail! LOL. How do you send ice-cream to someone? I never would have thought of it...but what a gift! I hope she will take a picture of herself standing in front of her freezer with her ice-cream! I didn't realize you lived so close to your in-laws. Maybe you can meet in the middle and give them some ice-cream too! Yes, I like Fridays too, and now it is Saturday already! I'm a little behind in my responses. Have a blessed and Happy MOther's day too!

    2. They mail it in a special freezer package. Usually, food places overnight things like that.

  5. The Heavens are filled with beauty and the wonderful works of our God. Happy Mother’s Day. Since i have only one child, my son, and he lives with me , mother's day will not be all that different from any other day. Steve did tell me he was making a steak supper for me and that is just what I had hoped for.

    1. I saw your picture of the steak dinner...you got it early...does that mean you'll get another one on Sunday? If so, I'll be right up! LOL. You are blessed to have your son with you. I know that he is good company for you and I'm sure he is thankful to be there for you. God bless you both, and may your Mother's Day weekend be filled with joy and pleasant surprises!

  6. I do love your moon shots. I love sunrises, sunsets and the moon in photos. I only get sunrises as it is easier to photograph where I live and I'm no good at night shots. Your pond looks lovely. There is always something to see there. I'm glad you will have your DIL and son to celebrate Mother's Day. The main thing is being with your loved ones. Enjoy.

    1. Thank you, Penny. Those moon shots are hard to get, and I was so amazed at how well the first one turned out, using my cell phone! That was a special blessing from God! Our pond is lovely, except it is rapidly drying up. We need rain so badly...supposed to get some today and tomorrow, but probably not enough to fill the pond. We'll need a lot more consistent rains for that. So praying it happens soon, before all our water birds fly away. Thank you for visiting. We are blessed to have our sons both living close (one lives with us and the other, who is married, lives just a mile away). So we have been together throughout this ordeal and we are very thankful for that. God is good. Please take care and enjoy your weekend.

    1. I am glad you can see "the Grinch" in that tree. Now every time I walk by him I say hello to the Grinch. he's not such a bad guy after all. LOL. Glad you enjoyed the photos. Hope you have a blessed and beautiful weekend too. What day next week is your surgery? I am praying all will go well for you. I know God is with you.

  8. Pam, thank you SO much for your sweet visit to my blog today. I am so thankful you enjoyed Martha's guest post! It was wonderful to meet you and be introduced to your beautiful blog. I miss my dear Mom, too. She went to Heaven right before Mother's Day in 2012. I can't believe she has already been gone for eight years. I miss her and my dear Daddy horribly. Do we ever stop missing them?? I don't think we do. I trust the Lord will bless and comfort you in every moment of grief. So grateful to meet you!

    1. Thank you, Cheryl, for your visit here today. I will have to go back and get better acquainted with you now! Yes, my sweet mother passed 14 years ago, also right before Mother's Day (May 7, 2006). And no, we never do stop missing our beloved parents. My father left this earth about five years after my mother. I look forward to a grand reunion in heaven someday! Praying that your Mother's Day will be sweet and blessed. Have a wonderful day today, and may the Lord fill your heart with joy!

  9. I read your comment you left for Ruth (I visit with her often) and you said you like birds. I'm an avid birder here in Texas and share photos of birds on my bird blog all the time...sometimes on my personal blog. Do come visit if you wish.

    Your photos of the moon & egret in the lily pond are my favorites. Your mother & your planned mother's day on Monday is a great tribute to your family bond!

    1. Thank you, Anni! So happy to make your acquaintance here, via Ruth's blog! I will have to go over and visit your blog and enjoy your birds too! Yes, I love watching the birds, and I often post pictures of them throughout my blog posts. So please come back and visit again. Usually my photos of birds are a little better than the ones here today, but it was a bright day and the Egret was too far away, but I still was enjoying watching his antics on the pond. Praying you have a blessed and wonderful Mother's Day also!!

    1. Happy Mother's Day to you too!! I hope you are doing something special to celebrate. Thank you for your kind words...we used to have such good times with our Mom. We miss her so much. Glad you can see the "Grinch" in my photos...takes a little imagination, but I can see him plainly, and now I speak to him every day when we walk by him. He's gotten a bit friendlier. LOL. Take care and God bless!!!
