If you recall from our last visit, our little family was surprised by a Christmas visit from their beautiful Auntie from the city, who brought wonderful gifts for all the family, as well as a dear little "Angel" visitor, who helped them all remember the true meaning of Christmas as they gathered around the manger and sang "Silent Night" to the Baby Jesus.
Auntie had to return to the city right after Christmas, but she left her little Angel friend to stay and visit and help the family continue to learn the true meaning of Christmas...because there were more adventures yet to come their way...
All the children gathered around and peeped out the door and through the windows to see who else could be coming to their house!
Even their little Angel friend was watching from the upstairs window, with a knowing look...
And unbeknownst to them, there was another little angel perched on the gable of the rooftop, watching from a distance with a smile on her face...
Who could this little girl be, and where did she come from?
Mother and the children looked her over very carefully...she certainly was well dressed, but looked a little uncertain as to whether or not she would be accepted by the family...
She certainly has beautiful hair...and a lovely big pink bow, and is carrying a curious toy...a nutcracker of all things! All the little girl would tell them was that her name was "Clara"...
Mother is again looking rather concerned about having another little girl to take care of and to dress and feed...
Perhaps now she understands better why "Auntie" brought her a brand new sewing machine for her Christmas gift...
Suddenly she recalls a Bible verse that her mother used to quote when strangers would come to visit their home:
Hebrews 13:2 (NKJV)
Well, it certainly does seem like the angels have been quite busy behind the scenes, helping to make the Christmas season very bright! And all the children were delighted to have another new playmate to come along on all their adventures!
Mother decided she needed a little quiet time for herself, and so she got the children all dressed in their winter clothes and sent them outside for some sledding and fun in the snow!
And so, while the children merrily played outside with the neighborhood children, Mother sat down in her rocker by the fire and had a cup of tea and read from her beautiful new white Bible that "Auntie" had brought her. And there was another Bible there for the children to read as well.
Yes, it looks as though the New Year is going to be filled with many new and wonderful adventures for our little family at Pamela's Victorian Cottage! We can only imagine what good things God has in store for them next!
So, until next time, Happy New Year everyone!! And don't forget to "entertain strangers", because we never know just who God may be sending to our door! It could be an angel...or it may just be one of God's children in need of some love and attention! Don't have a "closed door", but be ready to open the "window" of your heart to whatever new adventure God has planned for you!
I love that Bible verse and admit that I don't always remember it when I should. I love your Victorian Home and its residents and visitors! Happy New Year, Pam, to you and yours!! xoxox
ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable! What sweet additions to the cottage, and the little ones peeking out the windows is precious..
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family!
Blessings, Linda
This is sooo cute! I love the Victorian cottage and all the little people who inhabit it. What a lovely addition to your own cottage at Christmastime (or anytime, really).
ReplyDeleteVery sweet story, too, and I love the reminder to have an open door. That is one of my great passions.
Love,
Patti
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHey how did you get your door to open? (we have same cottage, smiles). I am afraid, no one visited this year, and even the little guy Johnny who lives in the cottage went to visit other people. Perhaps, he visited your family, smiles. I believe he is made because I didn't decorate this year. smiles
My door is just sitting in there, not fastened, so that way I can open it! I am sorry your little cottage is sitting there all alone...but I know you have bigger things to tend to and the cottage will wait for you. Maybe little Johnny should come visit us. We always have room for more! LOL
DeleteSo lovely, Pamela! I love seeing how you have used different little items as furnishings and accessories for your cottage. Do you read the blog Turkey Feathers? Vicki often shows lovely dollhouse scenes, and her daughter Grace has a sweet Etsy shop with many handmade miniature things for sale. If you have never visited there, you may wish to.
ReplyDeleteThere is an unfinished doll house sitting on my husband's workbench. It has been there so long (over 45 years) it has become a storage space for tools and the like. Maybe in retirement he can finish it. We will see!
Thanks for sharing the adventures of your cottage folk!
I am not familiar with "Turkey Feathers", but I will check it out. I do hope your hubby will finish your Dollhouse...45 years is a long time to wait...but restoring old houses is always fun too. Sometimes we just need a little place to pretend and be a child again...
DeleteThe windows panes look so realistic! That style of painting really brings them to life.
ReplyDelete"Hebrews 13:2- Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels."
This makes me think of some lady at the grocery store in flip-flops or something, someone unlikely...ha ha!! You never know!
😄
You just never know! Be aware...God sends His messengers in unusual shapes and disguises sometimes!!
DeleteSweet post. Glad the house has nice visitors!
ReplyDeleteIt's been pretty busy over the holidays after sitting silent for a spell. They may have to become a regular weekly feature so they don't get dusty... LOL
DeleteLove this sweet family, and your reminder to all of us that we never know when we're entertaining angels unaware.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Pamela!
This story is very sweet. If we all could entertain strangers, our world might be a better place. Peace and blessings.
ReplyDelete(catching up on my blog reading on this Sunday afternoon ....) WHAT A PRECIOUS STORY!!!! You have a wonderful imagination, Pam, and such sweet little characters to play out the scenes. Love it all!
ReplyDeleteOkay...now I see you are still like me---making stories up---correction the doll's make up their own stories...so sweet! I love when there is something to learn in a story...! Hugs, Sandi
