I am still working on my new One Word for 2019. You know, that "one word" that should help me grow, bring about positive changes in my life, and define what this new year is all about.
Here's the list of my previous "One Word" choices for the past seven years...(you can click on the links to see that post)
One Word 2018: Renew
This past year my word was "Renew", and I do believe that God was definitely all about renewing my life in the past year...Not so much in the physical sense...I'm still the same person physically as I was a year ago...just a year older...and feeling a few more effects of the aging process taking place in my body...no doubt about that. But I would say God was all about renewing my life in the spiritual sense most assuredly. And that is still a work in progress...He led us to a new church, and that has been a very positive experience for me personally...a kind of "homecoming" of the heart in many ways...and that has also led to us wanting to sell our house and move closer to that church so we can become more involved in the activities and ministries of the church in that community. Right now, due to the distance, we are somewhat limited in how much we can participate.
However, currently things are "moving" very slowly in that department...a few people have looked at our house, and they get our hopes up that they are really interested...and then we never hear another word...and so we wait. We continue to look for a suitable home in that area so that when it does happen we will have a place to go to...but even that seems to have come to a halt...there just isn't anything available right now that we could live in, at least that we can afford. So...we wait on God...and trust that He is still working on this.
And now here I am, trying to understand what "One Word" is God whispering in my heart that will help me understand His plan and purpose for my life in this new year...
I talked a little about this the other day HERE. This book..."The Way of Abundance" by Ann Voskamp. This is a 60-day journey into a deeply meaningful life...
I totally understand Pamela, I have been the same way, I do try to get on my computer and read 2 or 3 at times. I haven't been very "UP" these days. I really try to but you know how it is. I am trying to use the word "Quiet" for my word. I feel I really need quiet and peace these days.
ReplyDeleteOftentimes we need that "quiet" time for a season...I know I have needed it...the year we set up "The Secret Garden" was a time of quietude for me...God knew what I needed. I still need it so often these days as well...Yes. just seek time alone with the Lord and lean on Him...He will carry you through these difficult days. Praying for you now, dear Sylvia.
DeleteThere are so many 'words'. . . if we would 'STOP' and think of their meaning in a spiritual sense rather than a worldly sense how much better we would be. HE knew we would struggle with the world that's why He sent the Holy Spirit to help us. It's the Holy Spirit that nudges us toward the spiritual meaning of everything. God wants us to know Him and He has given us what it takes to do that, but we must use what He has given. Walk in the Spirit (know the Holy Spirit) and walk in the Word (God's instructions) and our lives will be lived for His Glory. AND this is why I know He'll give you the right word for 2019. I wasn't going to choose a special word for this year but He had other plans. During my Bible reading yesterday He let me know my word...loud and clear. (He does things like that!) I'll be sharing on my blog soon.
ReplyDeleteYes, the Lord sometimes has to hit us between the eyes to get our attention and make sure our eyes are focused on Him so He can communicate with us. I believe that is what this "One Word" idea is all about, at least it is for me. It is kind of a special "code word" between me and the Lord for what He is wanting to share with me. I look forward to hearing what your word is as well. It is exciting to be on this journey with the Father, don't you think?
DeleteNow to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us. Ephesians 3:20 Exceedingly, infinitely!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you on your journey this year.
That verse was in my mind. Thank you for sharing it! That may be my key verse for the year!!
DeleteLove your new word and I am praying right now that our Lord will bless you in ABUNDANCE! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThank you Cindy. I pray for you so too, in every good way.
DeleteAbundance! What a fantastic word for the year, Pamela, and I can certainly see it serving you well and blessing you as the year unfolds. And thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog today; I have responded!
ReplyDeleteBlessings always!
Thank you, Martha! I do believe it is going to be a year of abundant blessings. I am believing this by faith!! God bless you and yours as well!! Happy New Year!
DeleteWell, I know how tired I am, Pam, and you have had more on your plate than I have! Rest and then let the new year fill you with abundance!! Love & hugs!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri! We know that God is working behind the scenes...He has this covered. So we will trust Him. I just need to be reminded of that quite often!
Delete"...even that seems to have come to a halt...there just isn't anything available right now that we could live in"
ReplyDeleteAs I read this I had the feeling that you are waiting for a specfic time because there is something important lining up.
I believe you are correct...and we know that God is working all things together for our good...(Romans 8:28). Thank you for your perception.
DeletePa: No apology necessary. We all seem to have take a break to enjoy the Christmas-New Year's holidays. I agree with Sandi that we have to wait for God to work things out according to His plans for us. Sometimes, we have to have those times where things seem to halt in order for us to receive the directions God has for us. Peace and Blessing. I love your choice of your word for 2019.
ReplyDeletePam, you are always very close, in my way of thinking. I hope this month the issues can mellow out and peace will reign in all areas. I'm praying, too, for you as you await the next chapter of your life to begin with the housing situation. This is definitely a time of faith-stretching.
ReplyDeletePam, I like your word for the year. Abundance... In Christ we have abundant life, if not here, then in Heaven for eternity.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Kim
