Tuesday 4~The Best Part of Waking Up

~~The Best Part of Waking Up~~

Well hello again! I am so glad you stopped by and I do hope you are here to join in for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.
We ask 4 questions each week to get you blogging, thinking, discussing and visiting with other bloggers.

The commercial song said "the best part of waking up is Folger's in your cup".

1. What is in your cup in the morning?
Tea!  No coffee for me, but I do make it for my hubby every day.

2. What brand of coffee or tea is the best in your opinion and why do you think so?

Well, I prefer Lipton's tea for my everyday cuppa. But I do drink other brands and varieties when I want to have a little "tea party".

Twinings makes a lot of good teas. There are many different herbal teas and loose teas that I like to try,

but I always go back to Lipton for my morning cup of hot tea and also to make iced tea.

As far as coffee goes, hubby isn't picky, so I usually buy whichever one is on sale, Folgers or Maxwell House, and he is happy with that.

3. Where do you drink your cuppa in the morning? Do you have a nice view?
Yes, I usually sit here at my computer in the morning and drink my cup of tea while I check messages and comments on blogs, read blogs, etc., and I also can look out the window in "my room with a view" while I write. However, oftentimes it is still dark when I am drinking my cuppa tea, so I really don't see anything until later on.

4.Besides the morning, do you take little tea or coffee breaks during the day? If you are out and about where is your favorite place to get some tea or coffee?
In the winter time I am more apt to take a hot tea break in the afternoon, and sometimes I do in the summer as well if I am feeling a little tired or just need to sit and relax and think about something else for a while.  I usually have iced tea with my lunch.

Oftentimes I will sit here in my rocking chair in this little section of the kitchen and drink a cup of tea while cooking supper or baking cookies. That way I can keep an eye on things cooking while I relax. As you can see, I have plenty of company. LOL.  Lily Grace and her friends are always ready for a tea party.
And sometimes I enjoy having a little tea party on the porch...this was a few years ago when Lily Grace and her dog Bailey and I did just that!
I may need to do this again before it gets too hot!! It would be nice to have someone join me...it's always more fun when you have someone to share this time with you. And if you'd prefer, I could make coffee for you!

As far as a place to go and get some tea or coffee, there really isn't such a place here, at least not that appeals to me. They have just opened a Dunkin' Donuts here in our little town, but it is mostly a coffee kind of place and also primarily a drive-through, although I did just notice that they have a few tables outside...but who wants to sit there when it's 90 degrees and drink something hot? Not me!

HERE is a link to a post I wrote about this a couple of years ago.  And also, if you click on Tea Time in the side bar of the blog, or Tea Party, you will find many other posts about tea time from the past.

Tea Time Trivia and Blessings

It is no secret that I love tea.  I love all the stuff that goes with tea...teapots, teacups, tea cozies,

I even have a teatime calendar (thanks to my sister giving it to me every year for Christmas!)
And lots of books about tea and teatime...
and many tea cups and tea pots

I also have Tea Tins to hold tea...

Added note: I should have mentioned in my original post that this lovely little red Lipton Tea tin with the pretty lady on the front is a recent "gift", from the estate of my husband's cousin Janice, who recently passed away.  I will think of Janice every time I take a tea bag from this delightful tin.

Yes, I have a small collection of Lipton Tea tins. I have some others too, but Lipton is my favorite.
Obviously this one is a bit old and worse for the wear, but that's probably why I keep it...

Here is one of the several devotional books that I've been given over the years...Emilie Barnes is one of my favorite authors about things pertaining to tea...but in this book she goes to a different level...

"Fill My Cup, Lord..."  (one of my favorite hymns too!)
Yes, Lord...

But, Oh! My cup is chipped and cracked, and not in perfect condition...much like my life and my body...How can I serve You?

"He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength...but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
Isaiah 40:29, 31

"And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness."
Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." 2 Corinthians 12:9

Yes, even when our strength is small and frail, and our "cup" is chipped and worn, Christ comes to fill our "cups" with His strength, His love, and His peace.

To quote Emilie Barnes:

"Whatever your circumstances, you, too,
can hold up your cup and it will be filled.
If your cup is polished and dry,
hold it out for the Lord's plentiful pouring.
If your cup is full of the old and the unsatisfying,
hold it up for the Lord's cleansing.
If your cup is cracked and broken, hold it up anyway,
for the Lord's resources are plentiful and can keep even leaky cups replenished.
Come to Him as you are, cup in hand,
and hold it up to receive His blessings.
And then you will say, as I have said over and over again in wonder and amazement...
"Surely...my cup runneth over."

It's Tea Time somewhere
So put on the tea kettle
and pour a cup of
tea for you and me!
I'll be right over!

Savoring the Brightest Part of My Day!

For my Facebook friends, you've already seen these pictures...but for the rest of my friends out here in Blogland, I just had to share these with you!  I don't know if you are a tea connoisseur or not, but today I made a discovery that perhaps some of you have already seen and this is old hat to you...but it certainly made me smile today!

When I opened up a new box of Lipton Tea Bags I was so surprised to discover that they have added tag lines to their tea bags!!  What a delightful way to start my day:

"Brew Your Taste buds into a frenzy!",  "Embrace a world of possibiliTEAS!", and "A Sip of Sunshine to Soothe the Soul"... (some of us would like to make that "SONshine to soothe the soul!", Right?

This one on my morning teacup:  "Never quench your thirst for adventure!"  What a wonderful way to start my day!!!  Just what this old gal needed...a new "thirst for adventure!"

And so, this afternoon I brewed another pot of tea (we make our iced tea from these pots of tea...and as an added bonus I get a cup of hot tea to "savor the brightest part of my day"...

"Inspiration is just a sip away!", and "Why not brew up a little ray of sunshine?"....

Thank you, Sir Thomas Lipton, for these words of inspiration today!!  You certainly helped start my day on a brighter note!  I think this is to help make up for taking away the individual tea packet/envelopes  a couple of years ago...which totally made me unhappy...so I will forgive the Lipton tea company now since they came up with a way to make me smile with my cup of tea!

I hope this brought a smile to you today as well!!  I guess this could go into the "Thankful Thursday" category!...Let me add a few more things I am thankful for:

1.  Friends and Family who have come from across the country to encourage and support our dear friend Sharon during her battle with cancer.  Such a blessing...I may write more about that later.
2.  That same dear friend Sharon encouraging our son and his wife with a joint business venture that helps lighten her load and blesses them with added income.
3.  Answers to prayer in different areas of home and family life.
4.  Sunshine, Flowers and  God's beauty all around.  The way God's Word brings inspiration to my day, every day!

Psalm 34:1
"I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth."
